  • Here we show you how we were able to make an aftermarket shift knob work on our P1 Volvo. This will work for many Volvo models aside from the S40, the C30, the C70 and the V50.

Why not drill a hole 8n the top of the adapter for the shaft to pass through?

The adapter bottoms out in the shift knob. So that would not give us any more clearance.

@@moosedroppings are you saying the shift knob only has as many threads as the adapter and has no extra space above it, like it's just solid metal throughout?
And couldn't you drill the same size hole through the middle of the knob aswell to make it fit?

@@gabrielludington7691 exactly, no space to drill out,

@@moosedroppingsso if you got a different knob would it work potentially or no? Also if you were to thread the nob rather than grind it off are there thread adapters that would fit it?

@@gabrielludington7691 there are no threads on the factory volvo shift shaft, and the top has a specific clamp lock that only works with the factory knob, and is in the way to put an adaptor on. We found cutting the easiest solution, to then use an adaptor, which will allow you to use ANY shift knob in the world. you just can never go back to factory after you cut the top.

@@moosedroppings is it posible to just knock out the pin there? Or is it in one piece with the gear selector?

@@kriss5352 the pin can come off but there is a taper so the adapter doesn’t grab. Why we cut some off the shift shaft.
