I wish the odogaron insect glaive was better. Or they could add another upgrade. I would roll with it more often. Lik2 jewel slots and or augments. I love the design of it.
Oh boy, I already have been using the kjarr para ig, not an ig main, but to hear it so highly praised I realized how good a roll it was. This build is noted.
Great video! For the dragon attack build I use the Val Hazak Kjar weapon, it has less raw damage respect to the Jho one, but it has natural white, natural 10% affinity and critical element, the build is really fun and doesn't require a lot of rare decos
Really surprised the empress cane Styx isn’t on the list. I have 100% affinity and masters touch and razor sharp with my build. 4 drachen and the kulve helmet and with decos I have what I think is one of the easiest all around builds. I have full health boost, 6 attack boost, 6 crit eye, crit boost 3, WE 3, blast attack 2, power prolonged 2 and airborne skill.
Its damage isn’t that high, at least from my experience. It’s a nice weapon that allows you to craft a build with almost no cost, but I find it lacking a bit of damage.

Thank you. As for the "Cane" Ruin, I am disappointed with myself. After going through all the builds I had made it seems I had made a build for the weapon but had equipped the wrong charm. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I'll make another video addressing this.

With the ideal set Kjarr Para is sitting at 473.09 EFR, while Blos, Ruin and Jho are 573.8, 549.39 and 543.31 respectively. That's a difference of 70 on the lowest one. Furthermore if playing properly you should have 2 maybe 3 Paras Max before a hunts over, any more and that is a guarantee lose of damaged overtime. The other problem is the para locks you out of your stagger and trip counts, something you actively try to keep track of when doing TA or meta runs. But this is only my opinion, and if you have any other ideas or information please share.
13:30 if you swap the damage for a slot and lose one crit boost you can get lvl 2 Constitution and you don’t need to kill at kushala you can use hes chest pice instead you will lose out on dragon attack though so it’s not worth it

Explain about Para build and Raw build.... video cut to Grunge Storm gameplay lol Tbh, don't bother with Tyrannis. Almost no speedrunner use it anymore. Most of the time Grunge will out damage or out sharpness it. IG is not accurate enough to ensure 100% weakpoint hit. For Dragon resist monster like Odog and Nerg, use Para or Ruin.
The worst part is he didnt even Talk about Ruin and Honestly after 360hours in this game i know for a fact that ruin out dps even Grunge Storm if u play it well enough Ruin is easily top3 best glaive
its decent but i hear the true gae bolg is a prefered choice when it comes to dragon dmg, but i would still say the decay is really great, the differences probably aint that much either, decay has white sharpness and 60 more dragon dmg while the gae bolg has 10% more affinity and high elderseal, use the one you feel like
I don’t think they are as viable as the ones I’ve shown in the video, especially the Nergigante IG since it is worse than the Deviljho IG in every category besides affinity (but you can still get 100% affinity with the Jho IG)
Great video. I did your first build but only got 50% affinity. Only thing I had to modify was replacing 1 atack jewel with 1 paralyzer jewel. Any idea why?
Weakness Exploit doesn’t show up in the stat sheet as it requires you to be hitting a monster. So if you have 50% in your stat sheets, then you have 100% when you hit a monster’s weak spot

However, I am just one of those people that is frustrated about how Drachen Armor has become the centerpiece of what was arguably meant to be a multi-faceted crafting based armor skill system. Nope. Now we have the DRACHEN ARMOR AND MAYBE A PIECE OF SOMETHING ELSE. Still, love the video.

There’s a better build for kjarr spark using kirin horn Y, and the rest are drachen pieces and handicraft charm.You’ll have atk boost 4 , Crit eye 6, Hadicraft 4, Thunder attack 3, critboost 3, Max might 3, and power prolonger 1. Higher dmg out out and with 75% affinity w/out W.E.👍
blast weapons arent great for overall damage, but the lunastra weapons are versatile with lots of slots and natural white so you can stay in combat without sharpening, and blast is good for breaking parts more than anything really.
The innate RazorSharp is nice but it's just out done by better options, Ruin Included. Though it does get used in some cases. I believe Zebraquake did a TA on the 'Throne Taker' quest with Styx.
Ruin is Just wayyyyy better than styx and the razor sharp is unnecessary, Just yesterday i did a 2 man behemoth run using ruin and after 30 mins of fighting i was still in white sharpness
I have dozens and dozens of rarity 8 jewels, 4 attack jewels and have played the game for 500+ hours but I have never got a single expert jewel ;-; Edit: I got my first expert jewel today and my 5th attack jewel today yey
teo 3 piece can't go to atk 7 iirc the bottleneck to get atk7 and crit eye 5 prevents the use of teo pieces drachen has crit eye and atk skill points that is why it's the most common for pure dps sets
you end up losing a bit of damage in the end because of the deco slots and because of how many points you get in ATK Boost, Crit Boost and Crit Eye from the Drachen set
Or you could simply forget the simple minded methods of trying to always use the perk that keeps your sharpness from dropping and reach an effective raw 700 dps with insect glaive aerial build. Just saying, all you gotta do is sharpen on the rare occasion the monster runs away instead of being killed within approx 2 minutes
I just don't like the split between arial and non-arial style. Why you should limit yourself to do one or another? Paralysis IG is a great example. No matter what build you are playing you will pretty much always deal more damage with ground attacks. On the other hand arial attacks (especially light one) are much better for applying status effects or dealing damage against flying/moving monsters while evading at the same time. Obviously you don't want to go into extremes and mindlessly jump around like a monkey only to loose all the sharpness. Maybe it's not the best way how to min max your damage and fully utillise Maximum might. But using arial attacks every now and then to for example sneak in some extra hits or to create new opening is definitelly much more!
What if you want to use the Insect Glaive but also want to achieve high DPS, or go for TA runs? I personally enjoy using the IG on the ground a lot. And tbh, it gets repetitive to just vault into the air and do the circle attack over and over again. In the air, you only have two options really. On the ground, you have a lot more options and are always open to vaulting to avoid incoming attacks. That and Mounting with IGs has been nerfed since the 3DS games.
@@DarkHeroCC You don't understand what I am trying to say. I don't like the split between arial and non-arial. I mean the mentality that if you are playing raw damage build you should always be on the ground or if you are playing elemental arial build you should always jump around like a monkey. What I am trying to say is no matter what build you are playing you can do both depending on the situation. As I wrote above fighting on the ground is almost always preferable but there are situations when you can't attack from the ground but you could attack from the air. Also it's not like arial attacks doesn't do any damage. Last hit of the light arial attack has I believe second highest motion value and small hits are super good for procing status effects! I really enjoy using this attack to chase the monster then use heavy arial attack to get back to the ground and continue attacking from the ground. So yeah using IG as the whole weapon is just more fun for me.
There is a ground in the sense that if you want to relied on Air damage, you need to build around that. The real problem is which target really required Aerial build ? The usual suspect are AT Xeno and Lunastra. For AT Xeno, the reason to go aerial is for survival which I think the building mindset should be difference from the start. For Luna, yes.... elemental wing damage could out damage normal build in theory. But I think chain trip + Status is not that really far behind. The real problem for Luna is sharpness management that you will burn it like crazy with all the leg hit.
Longsword is fun. Stay grounded but hit that Helm Breaker when you want to get aerial 🤗 Plus, executing a well timed Foresight Slash counter feels so good.
When you are playing Affinity Based, then 4 Points are certainly enough. But having RAW Power has His Advantage, that it doesnt have to be activated and neither is luck/rng Based. Completing to 7 has His uses. But i agree. I would get only 4 Points and leave it with the Bonus.
At first i hated insect glaive players. They always die in important missions. Then i saw dis dude wearing a dragon armor flying like a helicopter and chopping everything in his way. Guess wat. From charged blade to insect glaive lover in an instant.
TFW At Kuve Taroth hasn't come yet to PC so you can't get any Kjarr weapon...... TWT edit: also Kinda sad that Drachen kills all the build variety for Insect Glaive (or many weapons in general), even thought I love the set

Jiraiyas Storytime weakness exploit doesn’t show up in the stat sheet as it requires you to be hitting a monsters weak spot for it to activate. If your stat sheet says 50% then you’ll be at 100% when you hit a weak spot

Most consensus is that Para is superior now. I could see ruin still use in the case that para is not viable (Kirin... cough).

Just Grab Diablos CB, put non ele jewel, artillery and all the attack decos you have. There, you have a tier 0 Chare Blade build

The styx glaive is imo the best non-kulve glaive, because you can reach 95-100% affinity with it with the right build. Diablos and jho can't do that.

drachen has crit eye and atk skill points that is why it's the most common for pure dps sets
you end up losing a bit of damage in the end because of the deco slots and because of how many points you get in ATK Boost, Crit Boost and Crit Eye from the Drachen set
I have like 5 attack jewels and I have no idea where they came from?! So, most of these builds are doable for me.

Yeah you get one for finishing the normal game i think and the second one is from completing the pukei pukei side quest inside the witcher quest
Or you could simply forget the simple minded methods of trying to always use the perk that keeps your sharpness from dropping and reach an effective raw 700 dps with insect glaive aerial build. Just saying, all you gotta do is sharpen on the rare occasion the monster runs away instead of being killed within approx 2 minutes

I just don't like the split between arial and non-arial style. Why you should limit yourself to do one or another? Paralysis IG is a great example. No matter what build you are playing you will pretty much always deal more damage with ground attacks. On the other hand arial attacks (especially light one) are much better for applying status effects or dealing damage against flying/moving monsters while evading at the same time. Obviously you don't want to go into extremes and mindlessly jump around like a monkey only to loose all the sharpness. Maybe it's not the best way how to min max your damage and fully utillise Maximum might. But using arial attacks every now and then to for example sneak in some extra hits or to create new opening is definitelly much more!
I'll definitely be altering it a little because I totally agree. These builds are nice but you always have to adjust them to fit your hunting style.
What if you want to use the Insect Glaive but also want to achieve high DPS, or go for TA runs? I personally enjoy using the IG on the ground a lot. And tbh, it gets repetitive to just vault into the air and do the circle attack over and over again. In the air, you only have two options really. On the ground, you have a lot more options and are always open to vaulting to avoid incoming attacks. That and Mounting with IGs has been nerfed since the 3DS games.

I mean the mentality that if you are playing raw damage build you should always be on the ground or if you are playing elemental arial build you should always jump around like a monkey. What I am trying to say is no matter what build you are playing you can do both depending on the situation. As I wrote above fighting on the ground is almost always preferable but there are situations when you can't attack from the ground but you could attack from the air. Also it's not like arial attacks doesn't do any damage. Last hit of the light arial attack has I believe second highest motion value and small hits are super good for procing status effects! I really enjoy using this attack to chase the monster then use heavy arial attack to get back to the ground and continue attacking from the ground. So yeah using IG as the whole weapon is just more fun for me.
There is a ground in the sense that if you want to relied on Air damage, you need to build around that. The real problem is which target really required Aerial build ? The usual suspect are AT Xeno and Lunastra. For AT Xeno, the reason to go aerial is for survival which I think the building mindset should be difference from the start. For Luna, yes.... elemental wing damage could out damage normal build in theory. But I think chain trip + Status is not that really far behind. The real problem for Luna is sharpness management that you will burn it like crazy with all the leg hit.

For Xbox one I only get up to level 4 attack boost cause it will only give 5% affinity
When you are playing Affinity Based, then 4 Points are certainly enough. But having RAW Power has His Advantage, that it doesnt have to be activated and neither is luck/rng Based. Completing to 7 has His uses. But i agree. I would get only 4 Points and leave it with the Bonus.
At first i hated insect glaive players. They always die in important missions. Then i saw dis dude wearing a dragon armor flying like a helicopter and chopping everything in his way. Guess wat. From charged blade to insect glaive lover in an instant.

Jiraiyas Storytime weakness exploit doesn’t show up in the stat sheet as it requires you to be hitting a monsters weak spot for it to activate. If your stat sheet says 50% then you’ll be at 100% when you hit a weak spot
