This is a video about self improvement, productivity, and better ideas. Also, I don't even know if writing this stuff in the description makes a difference as to how well the video performs, but sometimes you just gotta try things and hope they work.
🎥 The Gear I Use: kit.co/betterideas
"Our situation is just a symptom of our character". I love it
It’s so false but ok
Ambasa Woldegeorgis because videos like these completely ignore exogenous factors. Also, if you just came to realise that life is an RPG with internal and external elements now then youre actually behind the curve.
Ambasa Woldegeorgis no I didn’t. I’m saying the point of the video is redundant. It seems you missed the point of my comment, because you are what you are. Just a bit dumb.
you would of said the same about videos treating only endogenous factors

“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”
- Oscar Wilde
dude
That last clause reminds me of a lot of people.
Unfortunately that’s true for 99% of people, you only learn from others and you are influenced from a very young age, it’s not that deep it’s just human grouping and existence
Also not everything is unique, many people will have the same thoughts some first handedly, some not
How about we appreciate the video instead of posting inspirational quotes for likes and self glorification. Get some friends.
I like that humbleness in his articulate speech.
As if saying: "I'm not any better than you, yet here is how you can be better than yourself"
Talking from the heart and experience. The best way to influence people.
Compare yourself with who you were yesterday, not with who someone else is today
From Jordan Peterson's '12 rules for life' (rule 4)
time to start grinding out life
Max out or nothing
@@Yellow.1844 I need to reroll my stats first
Better to grind in life than to grind in videogames. This is the basic thought why I never play games that require a lot of time, (nor I watch TV shows).
RuneScape is the perfect example of timewaste. Not at the beginning, but when you have to grind unimaginable amount to gain just one level in a skill, and I didn't even talked about maxing out the skill. And you can max out a few dozens of skill. Etc. And when you think about the fact that you ground a lot and it's just a fragment of the effort you have to put in to max out a skill, because it gets exponentially more and more XP to level up, so when you think about it, it's just stops you to put in more time in the game, you just realize how extremely useless it is.
We can do so much truly useful things. I could spend my whole life just by improving my physique and learning to move better, learn new complex moves and that's just the physical part, by improving your mind can spend so much more, because there are a lot of possibilities, so much things to explore and discover.
Where are the hogs at?
I do not still play Runescape either. Nor do I play Pokémon, or even occasionally Neopets. That would be a waste of time.
Edit: Guys, guys - Joey is an ACTOR
Omg even you hahaha, RuneScape is indeed something right?
Nikhil, I just wanna say that when you say “to us I say, greatness is coming”, I literally get goosebumps, idk why, you and BetterIdeas are legends!
Neopets lol yes!

I just had the thought the other day that the source of this weird misery I've been feeling lately is because I've been thinking too much about the results i want in life and not about the goals that will manifest those results..
i resonate with this a lot. Thanks for writing this.
Our lack of friends may be due to our lack of confidence is lack of self esteem.... Damn dude. You got me there
Is it bad I don't see the immediate relation between lack of confidence and having friends ?
@@Nit2315 Maybe it does not apply to you, but if you lack confidence or self esteem you may think you are not cool enough and be less willing to engage in conversations or activities with others and thus result in having fewer to no friends.
@@tuckercoffin2164 damn it got me too
@@tuckercoffin2164 well said buddy👌
I can't tell you how badly I needed to hear this at this time. I've been going through hell recently. Between rapidly running out of time to finish the work for my engineering machinist apprenticeship, and ruminating about STILL living with my parents at 36yrs old. My character traits aren't great at the moment, but life's a pretty interesting game and many of the other characters around me right now are wonderful. Including the author of this video. Thank you very much
Good luck mate! 👍🏾
and new?
I was just binging all your other videos and then you uploaded - it felt like I summoned you
Yes
Could you keep doing that? I like these videos.
It's easier to blame others. The hard truth is, the problem may have something to do with yourself. People don't like that.

*Looks at BLM movement*
@@Dnj1zzzz Not... the best example.
@@Dnj1zzzz please explain how being outraged about a community members being killed by public servants related to personal growth
@@santiagobarratt-boyes5558 In reference to the comment, the same idea applies. A movement that does not focus on the root cause of issues will further propagate a narrative that intends to blame someone else.
shower thought clip was brilliant lol!
Wow
You are here
I am one of your subscriber❤️
I’ve always thought about this, especially after playing Animal Crossing. This “game” has helped me be more productive as a person, and helped me better my social skills. It’s a simulation after all and your progress reflects how capable you actually are as a person. So, I’m glad someone made a video with exactly what I was thinking. This is great
I love how you always break things down so anyone can understand these concepts. Upgrade your character internally, upgrade your life. Thanks for spreading light in this world!
This video reminds me of James Clear's philosophy about identity and system based change over outcome change. Working on your habits and self-perception will naturally lead to better outcomes. Your current results are the outcome of your current system and identity so building better identities and systems lead to better results.
This is honestly one of the best videos I've seen. The main idea really is absurdly simple, yet very refreshing. Thank you for explaining it all so well! Learned a ton in these few minutes ☺️
I love the way that you compared video games with real life
Skyrim?
Опа, привет)
Love your videos Joey, always giving me new ideas! It's important to decide the right things to upgrade in your character though, because if you spread your energy by upgrading too many aspects of your life, you spread your focus and energy too wide! Thanks for the video
All of us NEED TO BE OPEN to simple ideas that can change our lives. THANK YOU for sharing this with us! We always need to be LEARNING!
Wow. This is your best one yet. This message is so powerful and truly is the answer to all with everything else eventually falling into place.
Gamer shower thoughts, “Have I been progressing down my own storyline, or did I just spend 10,000 hours on side quests....”🤔
too real
That is so Skyrim...
I like how a shower tought lead to such a good video. I had a similar thought many times. It's so easy to get addicted to a game like Sims. You're wasting your time to succeed in a game, but you don't see the potential in life which you can develop to success by working on your mindset, your skills and your life in general. Great video about an important thought!
I don’t play Runescape, just like how no one in the comments plays Runescape, like how you don’t play Runescape.
I still play it
Saizen no you don’t
@@Saiban0 I think that's what Hazel is saying lol
I might not even have it on mobile 😅
Whats' wrong with it ?
Focus on internal improvement and not external improvement. This is the golden phrase in this video. A very positive and powerful message! There was a time in my life when I was focusing on external improvement, mainly through buying stuff and overworking myself. Eventually I started focusing on internal improvement, namely the development of character and valuable skills (including technical skills). For me, this has helped me carve a path to a meaningful career and life. Thank you for a wonderful video!
Loved the short at the end👌🏼
Man, I don't know how you do it. It's amazing seeing you articulate thoughts I also think about. There's a lot of skill in what you do and it's valuable, keep going strong 💪 love your videos, your content and your ideas. Do moreeee
Joey standing depressed in shower at 1:26 is peak cinematography. Change my mind.
New video 😍 needed this back in my life! Thank you!
“Our situation is just a symptom of our character”, ❤️ that quote!
LOL That "I DO NOT still play Runescape"! I uhhh... yeah I obviously don't either.
Lmfaooo buying gf
Pretending to be someones GF cause a quest sex changed you 😂😂😂 then get spoiled shitless.
Ofc later i died in the wilderness from the dude 🤣
It's funny the amount of crossovers in life when you start off as a gamer. I love the feeling of handling higher weight levels in the gym because of 'leveling up'. I love that I can get more steps on my Fitbit and compete against friends, and I love the feeling of new achievements with fasting through an app I use
Fasting is dumb you need consistent protein to max out gains
Your B roll shots are absolutely beautiful!
I love this! I've never seen a video about this before, I completely agree, i love learning new things and improving my skills it makes me happier to just be me
Shower thoughts are the cleanest!
But if its hard for us to delay gratification, we all need to reward ourselves for all the good small habits we do, until the massive result of change is the gratification we so desire! We just initially mask it by dangling a treat for ourselves!
Production quality is outstanding 👏🏻
Great Message! Thank you!
Wow I needed this video!! Thank you Joey!
The sims is literally the biggest motivation in my life. It's all about leveling up
First!! You are a LEGEND! Helping me getting throught quarantine. Shoutout to Brazil!!
pena que ele demora pra postar vídeos novos, mas tem me ajudado muito também.

Very good analogy, I will keep this in mind. Great video!
Your one of my greatest inspirations for starting a channel thank you and keep up the amazing work
This has been an excellent guide on how to wear Rune Armour, thank you! I can't seem to equip the platebody though...
Dude, you are amazing, your videos are literally saving my life
One video at a time!
Your comment is the biggest cringe I have ever got from reading a yt comment you really need a Life hun.

Not quite sure I've been missing your videos but oh gosh do I like (and learn with) the content you put out..!! really inspiring and it definitely makes one think about how we're actually dealing with our life situation.
"Our situation is just a symptom of our character" wow you gave me the key to improve and make my life better.
4:06 While I know that many of my problems at the root have to do with myself, many times I feel as though I over-complicate things. Your point that many times the internal problems are unexciting really stuck out to me.
I really want a Panasonic S1H... but yeah being limited really helped my creativity so I'm grateful for that. BUT STILL having that camera would be sooo sweet.
Which camera would you recomend to a beginner in photography?
David S Fujifilm X-T20 or a Canon Rebel
So much wisdom. Thanks for making this video!
These videos have turned my life around .Love you and keep up the good work 💪
Best timing to see this video..., im droping out of my university and im looking to start a new a job and in the same im starting a liitle business, i hope this will end good !
You can do it! And you can always finish uni later if you want anyway.
0:51 woah, that shower shot of that shower thought
was very striking
Your videos always hit home with me.
Using simple analogies and a very minimalistic approach you somehow seem to get your point across.
I consume a lot of self help resources but yours always seems to work for me 🙂.
Thank you.
This is so Inspiring 💯 I love how you brought up internal improvement > External improvement
that was one of the best build-ups for a skillshare ad I've seen

I honestly hands down believe that you single handedly helped me improved my life and I thank you for that
Thank you so much for this video, loved it!
I feel this... When I watch my Sim get out of bed at 7am and head straight to work whereas I, in reality, press snooze for a good 2 hours
You are a genius
Great perspective! Nice job on this one.
Keep these coming 🤩 Really just got me motivated once again, every time I need a little inspiration and wise words your channel gives me just that. Thank you 🙏🏼
3:47 c'mon man u talking about lack of cinematography skill while showing us incredibly gorgeous shot
I'm pretty sure that was the point. Showing that it's not about some new fancy camera, but that he found a way to make this beautiful shot by learning and using the stuff he already had.
Heard “Fallout” *SMASHED* the like
Ryan O’Connell haha same here. Been an addict since the original.
Thanks for this video! This was just what I needed to hear today.
Best self improvement channel
On RUclips , really be breaking shit down 💯
8:40 You had me dying
OH MY GOD, RuneScape, I kind of ashamedly played that a ton, too.
I felt that internal/external improvement. Appreciate the video
Much needed On time On point 🙌🏽
That shower thought clip of you 😆
6 mins and there's already dislikes. Even the haters are subscribed!
Ps. You inspired me to start a RUclips channel! Thanks Joey 🙌🏼
Its the runescape players
Well the main part of the video ends after 5 minutes.
I sometimes find that I've hit a dislike accidentally, it might be some mathematical error basically

Just want to say your color grading is on point! The teal/orange split tones make your vids look far more cinematic
The problem with personal responsibility as a philosophy is what happens to you from your intitial points to your subsequent ones: you go from “you have the power to improve yourself even if you can’t change your circumstance” to “your circumstance is your own doing”, which is proven wrong by all of history.
I was waiting for you to say “the answer is..... Skillshare!”
Edit: he done it....
And there, I have finally start my two months trial.
Great video! I've always loved the idea of life as a "quest for skill acquisition." Leveling up the things that are important and valuable to us in ourselves, our work, and our lives.
Hello from London
I always watch your videos on my lunch break. I work in a hospital and most of the time is busy and stressful. Thank you for sharing your experience with us x
This is the longest skill share ad i've seen..
I freaking love how his videos aren’t cheesy
Great Video, lots of wisdom shared here, keep them coming!
Great Video Joey, thank you for this! I've also been thinking about this exact topic for quite some time now and I'm just realising how good it is to hear it spoken out loud from you and other people. Makes things more real than turning them over and over in my head.
simple idea, stop watching videos on youtube, enough it.
actions over thinking, any actions, for real..
Where am I gonna go, everything’s closed
When you get the message, hang up the phone. And apply what you learned
I feel attacked lol
Dropping a like before even starts watching
Bro please make videos on regular intervals

Very powerful concept - I've never heard someone expressed it that clearly before, great video!
Please make more sketches like that one in the end. It was fun to watch!
Fantastic video as always! Thanks a lot, brother!
Your acting is on point my friend haha Great message I really connect with your way of seeing life.
This video helps a lot of people, love u man and btw keeping up the good work.
I've discovered your channel because youtube knows I'm in a funk, and thank you! Your down to earth approach really makes the difference. Best motivation channel!
How is it possible that you can explain things in a such good way? Man you’re great. I just found your channel here on RUclips like one hour ago and I am fascinated.
Loved this idea!
I like the bonus piece added at the end.
The fact you make videos on issues you faced or like facing now,.
That's really the meaning of adding value to world.,
Tnx Mate
This is unbelievably spot on!!!!
Great video, keep the great work up
Really loved the music. Felt like it always created the perfect mood. Keep up the good work
