This is really really great - the nicest version I've heard to date. I wasn't aware of Joel before but have just bought his Banjo Monologues CD as a result of watching this. Thanks for uploading
Seems a self taught right hand technique( not average " claw hammer" or average player, Joe is a master, dynamics,compass or metronome).Two phrase rounds.Old Chris a retired fiddler of Albuquerque NM Old Timey I tune Fiddle D A E B ,and for McTell I tune a d g b e g eqv of E A D F# B D.
It is a no-name banjo but surely from John Henry Buckbee (his trademark image in a medalion on the headstock.) 1880's vintage. Restoration by Bob Smakula. Spun-over rim. slightly short scale with light GHS strings tuned aEAED Joel Mabus
Wonder how they came to give this their title to the piece? The Father’s Testimony: God (the Father) made Jesus to be something He wasn’t-sin―so that He can make us something we are not-righteous. Just as Jesus received our sin in an act of faith, we receive His righteousness in an act of faith. My sin took Jesus where He did not deserve to go-death and hell-so His righteousness can take me where I do not deserve to go-eternal life and heaven.
That's clawhammer mastery.
