I'll said it before and I'll say it again. Bujingai for the PS2. A little short and some levels are a bit frustrating, but it's an amazing Hack n' Slash

Demon Chaos for the PS2 if you haven't done a video on it. It's an amazing hack n slash game with a frustrating mission stance. Victory: destroy the enemy. Defeat: allowing someone to die. Everytime I make mention of this game the person goes never heard of it, what's it about?

    • @babybuussj4
      @babybuussj4 3 года назад +8

*Scurge: Hive* for both the GBA and DS. I've only played the DS version, but the simplest way to describe both iterations would be "what if Metroid: Fusion were isometric?" Sure there's more to the game, including the powerups, the constant running back to safe spots to lower the infection meter (which is stressful in a good and bad way), and the protagonist having more to say than Samus, but the game wears it's influence on it's sleeve. The protagonist Jenosa Arma even kind of looks like Samus (but with a different hair color, and a way bigger ponytail).
Sadly, the developer, Orbital Media, went defunct in 2014. So despite there being a sequel hinted at the end of the game, I doubt it'll ever happen.

I will always sing the praises of Twinkle Star Sprites (Neo Geo, or the PS2 sequel) - but only as a two player game as it’s a head-to-head game so one player is nothing special. It’s one of my favourite tournament games with some friends and beers, even though it’s a Cute-Em-Up.

Stubbs the Zombie is a really nice game. The PC version even has decent controller support and is able to run at a very high framerate (animations are still locked at 30 though and the game can feel a bit stuttery if you go beyond that). It takes some tweaking to get to run on modern Windows but it can be done. I'd say it's worth it for the humor alone and the novelty of playing the bad guy. Thanks for the episode Joe!

Great mechanics, creative zombie weapons, really big levels with a lot of variety, and the voice acting it's super funny. The story is goofy, but the real deal is the fun factor, being a zombie with your zombie army has to be the most satisfying thing ever. Highly recommended.

GCN is always better than ps2 graphic-wise, but the Xbox is always gonna beat Gcn for graphics, (again) with the right set up. However, the controller is far inferior to the gcn. @matt fahringer the video is about overlooked games, phantasia is by far the most overlooked in the franchise exactly because of that gba game, but it also had 3 other versions, the original in the snes, the remake on the psx and the remaster of the remake on the psp.

The biggest hurdle in Gungage is collecting enough flower to unlock another character besides Wakle
After that it's smooth sailing of fun since the other playables are just infiniltely more interesting be it their main gun and special abilities

So after all the years I've watched Game Sack, I want to see the actual "Sack" that's shown in the opening. That damn sack gets no real live time or credit. Where's the Sack Joe?!

I love the Jurassic Park game on Master System!
And for anyone who played it and wondered, what the black coins in the fifth stage do... they remove continues.
I have no clue why, but collecting coins in the last stage harm you.

I remember getting Chaos Legion back in the day as an urge for more Devil May Cry. This was made by Capcom also after all.. and damn was I ever disappointed. As soon as you mentioned it, all I could think of was how repetitive and mundane that game is. It really is a chore. Very generic arenas, forgettable story. Shallow gameplay.

Old games are just a treasure trove of cool concepts and ahead of its time game types, when you picked up a game you never knew quite how it would play. Compared to today where everything is copied and standardised, developers really were throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. Plus so so many quirky Japanese games, anime being especially hard to come by in the 80's and 90's make it seem super exotic.

I personally enjoy seeing Joe’s takes on non-retro games, and I wish he’d branch out and explore some of them more often (especially modern/current gen games). Just goes to show you can’t please em all, though, I guess.

Ya see, Clash at Demonhead is just one example of MANY that with just a few very small tweaks to the game design could be absolutely amazing! This is true for so so many NES games back then, and I agree that it's simply due to a lack of experience with developing games back then as well, Video Games with this depth barely existed at the time. Games with this much depth and detail only ever existed until this very system.
I would LOVE to see some talented homebrew devs get their hands on this game and tweak the game mechanics to make the game a whole lot more fun! It's a shame we haven't seen more examples of ppl tweaking these games to make them a whole lot better.

Omega Boost was one of the best looking games on the Playstation. I was blown away by what Polyphony was able to do with the limited 3d hardware at the time. They pushed those visuals like they did with Gran Turismo

Another great episode. I LOVED Tech Romancer when I had it for my Dreamcast. It was one of the games I missed most after selling the system. Once you get used to the controls, the game just rocks. I was fortunate enough to play it in the arcade as well. Also, I may be in the minority here but I also liked the Sega CD Jurassic Park game. It was one of the reasons why I picked up a Sega CD system.
