    I have been a published comic author since 1991. I use Index cards to do the plot. I write what I want to happen in the scene and the cards allows me to move around the scenes until I'm satisfied with the story. Then I breake down the individual scenes to pages and try to have a cliff hanger on the right hand page.

    😂😂"Otherwise he's just some guy moody on the rooftops scouring the city."
    Honestly, watching this video was alot of interesting fun and it's done so cleanly. One of my biggest worries in the creation process is considering what happens around the things I want to happen & need to happen.
    I've kind of dubbed it "The In-betweens." Should I be worried about this so much?

    • @MattGarveyComics
      @MattGarveyComics  Год назад +2

      Cheers I’m glad you enjoy the videos ☺️.
      I don’t think you need to worry.
      If you bullet point the story out with those things you WANT & NEED to happen, it becomes a game of connect the dots…and in your head you start working out how to get to where you NEED to go….and sometimes the WANTS don’t happen because the story starts to shape itself.

    This is so different from how I've been plotting my comics so far (more or less) but I'll get to that later because I want to bring up what I started thinking when you got to the end of plotting. To me, what you had so far (at page 17/18) just sounded like the beginning of a story. It would be cool to dive more into the body horror and slow Walt slowly transforming and being overcome with horror. He would seek out help at a hospital, but this would be futile. What I'm thinking might become a different story entirely; exploring the idea of man vs monster/beast. The hardest thing would be avoiding recreating The Fly.
    Anyways. You plotted this comic a very unlike how I have been plotting my comics. It is similar in some regards, but I tend to plot the the whole storyline or "season" of a comic before focusing in on the issues. Then I move on to making a few rough outlines of my idea before making something more solid. I haven't even thought about the pages or panels yet for any of my stories. I've written a few short drafts in order to visualize where I want to take the story and to help narrow down what each panel should be and how many pages I'll need. Something like this I would use when I'm sure about my story, as the first step to turn it into a comic.

      No worries, buddy…we all work our own ways! 👍
      This is just a “fill in” issue of a other story that we are doing so it’s part but is also a self contained story and before I’ve got to the “plot” I pretty much know where I want to go so I’m filling in the blanks 😜

    Hi,
    Quick question I see you plan your comic in 24 pages of comic.
    Was wondering why this is instead of 22 as I am new alot of online sources say a 24 page comic is actually 22 due to advertisements etc.

    • @MattGarveyComics
      @MattGarveyComics  2 года назад +1

      I’ve always just done 24, give the reader a bit extra, plus 24 works out better for printing because it’s a multiple of 4 pages so no blank pages.
      Most marvel and dc comics are only 20 now too

    • @lastoreoandmilk4997
