The sad trend about video game adaptations is that they will always be made by people who don’t understand the messages or meaning of the games and will just end up making bad or mediocre fan fiction. Edit: Fallouts a blast ❤️
I don't get it. Why can't they just... Adapt the material? Take out some puzzles, choreograph the fights, make a few other pacing fixes and the like, and just do Resident Evil 1. A SWAT team going through a trap and puzzle filled mansion full of zombies and monsters. How is that not usable?
I mean, even if they were able to just take as much time as they would need to make it " perfect " if the game is not like linear, then, they HAVE to make some " adjustments "...
That's cause they're clueless morons that have never played a single game in their life, grandpa probably saw his son playing resident evil and asked "what game is that? Oh wow it looks spooky and very hip, im gonna make it a TV show, teens will love it!"
Worse, we get a lot of pre-made scripts that Hollywood uses for adaptations and re-skins them. Elvis mentioned "random" stuff not in RE in RE and the weird, choppy issues with the plot. Probably not the case with this, but some movies are made using a completely separate script that ends up being recycled for the ip. Diehard is a famous example, Joker is another. (Though those movies were much better than this mess).
The fact that even a clone of Albert Wesker would be a somewhat good father and person is the least believable thing in the show, like Wesker in the game, is supervillain evil
@@slavatoin8273 That's a good theory! But damn, they literally could have made a green wallpaper if that's the case. Sure, it would be weird if no program is open but it's better than fucking paint lmao
The reason that most zombie related media calls them anything but a zombie is because a while ago like on the 80s-90s marvel had copywrited the word “zombie” so other companies had use find other ways to use the creatures without using the word “zombie” but they lost the right after it became a widely used word, but now a days it’s just kind of a trend to not call them zombies They lost the right in 1996, but it is somewhat of a trend. As a world that take place in a zombie apocalypse doesn’t have any fiction revolving zombies so they have to be more creative that using “zombie”. It also helps marketing bc if they get popular enough more people will know the show by the nickname they gave zombies. Like the walking dead’s “walkers”
When you think about it it sorta makes sense, like irl if it happened we probably wouldn’t call them zombies it’d be more like COVID where we’d call them what there infected with , just a funny thought tho that I’ve overthought
But they are though… They ARE zombies. If zombies actually exist, I’m gonna call them zombies lmao Plus they even say “zombies” quite a LOT in the games, given they are zombies.
@@elliezzz7812 now all I can think about is a group of hipsters arguing over what they should call the zombies to make themselves sound cool. Makes me shudder,
The walking deads walkers were the worst analogy because that is the case for the show the comics which was the source material for the olshow originally called them zombies also the comics are way better than the show so you should read them (the show was awesome in the earlier seasons though)
@@elliezzz7812 I think we would come up with a name for them and not just call them "infected with *disease*" or "*disease* sufferers." If they were out and about and you could easily tell them apart from people without it, we would come up with a nickname for them. They would be different in each country/region too depending on what caught on and what they do. Like, they're called walkers in TWD because that's what they do, they get up and walk. Depending on what they did here, and previous media influences that they didnt have in TWD, we would come up with some easy to use slang name to give them.
Jade is such a terrible person. She doesn't care about anybody, risks other people's life constantly. When in the end she sends her daughter away on her own and forgets about it we just bursted out laughing. But every character seems to like/love her because she is the protagonist I guess? That's how some Hollywood psychos would imagine a "relatable" character.
A classic mark of terrible character writing is having a character be awful to everyone and hope the audience will like them because they _tell us_ the character is good, even though they show us the opposite. It has never, ever worked, but it doesn't stop shitty writers from doing it.
ikr. Almost every outbreak was an isolated incident which made the tension higher because you know there's nobody else coming to help. At least in the older games
yeah thats becasue most people dont really know the games...they just know the movies and think...OH THATS PROBABLY what the games are like...its an ego shooter. ont forget this really isnt a show about the game...its a show in the FILM UNIVERSE...with like...easter eggs of the games for "the nerds"
@@faelger9473 i think people hear "resident evil" and now forget that the name still is about about a house from the first game, but no one thinks about it and makes it about the end of the world.
Basic story is driven by jades life long series of poor judgment and choices. It was hard to feel anything for the protagonist….also these teen girls are fkng brats.
Another problem I have with these shows is that they always portray teens as brats or zoomers Seriously not every awful thing from real life should be in your live action show
Resident Evil is such a lore heavy franchise. It is astonishing how many adaptations don't have anything in common with the games other than name sake. It's almost like these people absolutely hate the games.
The thing about this show is, nothing Jade does in the past has any stakes because we see her as an adult so we know she lives. And the subtitles say "younger billie" so we also know that she's going to live...
The writers most likely didn't know how to hide those kinds of details from the viewer. At least with the horror movie The Thing, the intro wasn't in subtitle so you couldn't understand the helicopter pilot spoiling the whole movie. Unless you understand their language. Here, they said screw it just add everything in and hope it all works.
@@giftedfox4748 More likely the writers wrote the young part and the exec's at Netflix demanded they add the adult portion. Like........the whole adult portion is pointless, it meanders through random subplots to kill time and constantly teases(incorrectly most of the time) outcomes of the young portion. Literally wish there was a cut with all the adult stuff cut out, 100% more watchable.
@@simonausmus Oh! My apologies. I forgot there's a few of you special folks that don't realize teenage drama isn't a part of the Resident Evil formula. Please keep praising this garbage though by all means. Happy Holidays. 🤡
After painfully sitting through the first season of the show, it definitely made me appreciate the movies a lot more now Correction: There was only one season ahaha
Watching a Resident Evil show and hearing "Zootopia Porn" come out of a character's mouth was probably the hardest I have laughed in a while and it gets points for that
It really botheted me how 2 teenage girls got into an Umbrella building with no security because everythings "automated" You know, even tho the show happened in the same universe as the games, you think Umbrella would have more security after Racoon City 1 etc etc
Yeah, "Thanks to Internet" also kind of dumb. How the heck they deactivate the cameras inside building but no alarm blazing upon deactivation. that will cause troubles and investigation troughly due to this incident. And each personel of inside the building will be questioned entirely no matter what. That will work great but this... Is beyond stupid writing, this is Agony and Self Suicide to the show.
It really makes this Umbrella look like a joke, the Umbrella in the Millia RE Saga has an Automated Laser Defense System and the facility that was from is Underground just like every other Facility, Extinction even went as far as to show there is a Underground Facility that is accessed through a little spot found in some normal-looking home in middle of nowhere or a desert.
This is probably one of those pre-made scripts that Hollywood uses for adaptations and just reskins to try to make it fit. Elvis mentioned "random" stuff not in RE in RE and the weird, choppy issues with the plot. Diehard is a famous example, Joker is another. (Though those movies were much better than this mess).
You know the worst part, Umbrella has cloning technology, all Umbrella and Billie would need is for Jade to supply a pint or two of blood and then they could create a clone heart of Jade to pump the special hero blood perpetually.
Fun fact. A german youtuber, named Alberto, made some comedy sketches in which he played multiple characters by himself. His most known characters are Al, Bert and O. He did the same thing that wesker did to name his clones, only he did it like ~10 years earlier. Made me laugh a bit when Weskers clones were introduced and i still wondering if this is a coincidence or if someone behind the scenes took some inspiration.
the weirdest thing about the movie wanting this to be in the "Real World" is that till 2022 yet there appearently are no Movies about Zombies what so ever. Obviously they had no Idea how Zombies could have looked in the "Real World"
To be honest it depends on which type of thing is being referenced, and how well is the referenced capable of aging or has aged or is relevant to the plot and not just a tacky one liner with no bearing on the story.
@@reginaphalange9417 seriously referencing something recent just makes your show all the more outdated Like inside job Good show but it relies way to much on referencing real life events The writers should’ve known that the show will be outdated after many years
Overall I like the idea of it being inserted into the "real world" because on its face the premise is more realistic as well as say multiple parallel timelines where things are different because here we see a completely different version of Wesker taking care of these clearly adopted or otherwise artificially created girls through sperm/egg donation and surrogate mothers which is also an opportunity to present a much more realistic take on the "wesker children" program instead of Umbrella spending all of these resources watching and tracking these children they could just a) engineer them in a lab and b) finance the orphanages and just have Umbrella employees adopt and raise the select children themselves, with the genes they want or who display traits associated with them like high intelligence, faster than normal reflexes, muscle fiber composition, bone density, and better memory which tend to go hand in hand with higher IQ as a general factor they're measuring the speed your brain processes sensory input. They could just have done it that way and raised them themselves and gathered DNA samples from them to splice into the next generation of children born through invitro feetilization with egg donors and surrogates enhancing them in utero with gene splicing and additional gene therapy. The problem is that an Umbrella employee wouldn't be able to threaten a social media company or PornHub employee's job these are the richest entities in the world through exposure and add revenue alone other than Amazon and their IT infrastructure is what makes what Umbrella and other pharma companies do possible especially biotechnology you need that whole technology part and they'd be way more politically and socially influential and powerful than an Umbrella executive and they'd all know about one another's backroom deals and DARPA contracts with the Pentagon/Military. That's the only unrealistic thing I saw flat out here. He'd call PH to whine and get this guy fired they'd just turn into a Tyler the Creator meme be like "Okay?!?" Your daughter got hoed at school and what? then hang up on him and do NOTHING to reprimand the other guy. It's like the creators forgot Umbrella wasn't all powerful did things in secret wasn't in competition with IT companies their Racoon City labs were because they owned that city from the start financed everything and had the Mayor in their pocket from the start and the Spencer mansions lab etc. Was built way before all that and was only connected to the Hive later that was all illegal underground black market deals they made during the construction of Raccoon city that they Umbrella financed. In this show, New Raccoon city implies the events of Re:1-3 have already happened in this timeline or whatever so its like people would have known about BOWS and that Umbrella was no good , likely would have already gone under and Umbrella had equally powerful competition in their own field like TriCell who immediately took over in umbrellas wake along with Wesker's smaller more hidden faction of Umbrellas remnants employing double agents like Ada Wong. That's what happens TriCell and an arms dealer emerge. Supreme with Umbrellas and Osmund Saddlers biotech selling it on the black market to the Highest bidder TriCell, who weaponizes the Ouroboros virus. With the remaining STARS team members and UBCS mercenaries becoming the BSAA running around the world like a BOW related elite black ops commando squad for interpol and the UN clearly funded by the US government and probably China and Russia as well they're probably like "yes please prevent zombie apocalypse in our cities take some weapons and money please as much as you think you'll need" lol. Umbrella collapses and fractionates early on Umbrella collapses into multiple warring underground factions before the rest of this stuff even happens with only their other shady backroom deal created hidden labs remaining and they're constantly being raided and having their pockets run by the BSAA, TriCell mercs, Wesker's faction and probably our spin-kicking, deadshot, quick-time counter attack master , longhaired pretty boy hero Leon and even Ada Wong herself the queen of double crossing and even back stabbing the back stabber.
All the weird outbursts in this show remind me of the time I used AI Dungeon to try to write a novel for fun. Some of the plot elements were surprisingly on-point, but then you'd get some crazy rant or pop culture interjection that would come crashing down. I'm mildly convinced Netflixident Evil was AI-generated.
Holy shit this is so accurate lmao. Like, the fucking giant crocodile being dragged behind the survivor ship??? That's something only an AI, a child, or someone stoned out of their gourd would think is a logical escalation of events 😭
I'm a huge Resident Evil fan, however I went into this show with absolutely zero expectations. With that zero expectation I tried so hard to enjoy it at every instance. I was met with an absolute dumpster-fire of a tv show. I could write an entire Exposé on how this show sucked, but you did everything I had to say toward the show in this video and I cannot explain enough how much I appreciate that. This show was so difficult to sit through.
No little edge Lord, netflix has plenty of good shows and movies, you just focus on the bad ones because you like to cry on the internet while you fill your diaper.
I found it very funny how mild of a reaction Wesker has when finding out his daughters stole his key to murderous supercorpo HQ, freed a lab zombie dog, and one of them got bitten & infected, because free bunnies. I kinda liked the show in so bad it's good kinda way.
If there is one thing I can't stand in horror movies is when you go "Why don't they just do this? Yeah, obviously that's going to... yeah, there you go." If you actually want a story to be scary, you need the characters to do everything right and STILL things went to sh*t. That's how you tell the audience the situation is actually hopeless.
But, here is what I don't get: Why Wesker? The overworked father roll would have been so much more fitting for Birkin. Birkin already has a daughter, so no one would be offended by Sherry having a sister. It was already established in the game, that both William and Annette were neglecting their daughter due to William working on the G-Virus. Birkin had a similar roll to Wesker within Umbrella, so everything they did to Wesker in this dumbster fire of a show, they could have done to Birkin and it would have been so much less... stupid. Heck, I don't even think that people would care all that much about race-swapping Birkin, because, again, the roll would be so much more fitting for him. Yeah, Birkin is not a single dad, but, going with the whole clone nonsense, the Birkin here could have just been a clone of og Birkin (with an accidental dose of cherry cola) and no one would care.
I mean, there's no reason why Birkin would've had to be a single dad. If both parents are overworked and neglectful of their daughter(s), you don't even need to kill off the spouse.
@@sorrenblitz805 Or, since the show is already set in Africa at the the start, just make the entire thing about Sheva and Josh. It could be a sequel to RE5 and focus on them cleaning up the remnants of Tricell, or even an origin story about how the two of them first met and started fighting against Bioterrorism. Heck, they could even end the whole thing with Sheva meeting Chris for the first time, tying it in perfectly with the start of the game.
You can always count on Netflix to do two things; 1. destroying an already well established IP 2. creating there own IP and then cancel it when it starts to gain momentum.
_''In August 2022, the series was canceled after one season.''_ See, that's one of the reasons why I cancelled my subscription to Netflix a year ago - they keep investing in TERRIBLE projects. Absolute dreadful shows and movies. They go for quantity rather than quality, so for every 1 good show or movie, there's 20 bad show or movie. And they continuously raise prices of the subscriptions... Raising prices for a service but the service doesn't improve Netflix, you'd have MUCH better retention if you had better quality stuff.
@@aarondawal9037 Yeah - they'd rather invest in crappy ''Originals'' than invest in publishing license or extending current publishing licenses... So studio movies are fewer & rarer, and don't last as long on the platform. I don't miss Netflix.
And now they will remove shared passwords / IP lock your account and put ads on the lowest tier subscription in early 2023. They’re really killing their own service
I really did love the claustrophobia of the first movie. The second and third movie were still pretty good pretty decent but after that it just goes all downhill.
To be fair, the first 2 movies weren't bad. Hell, I'll go as far as to say RE1 was pretty decent. It had the slow investigating scenes, it had shootouts, a big mutant boss that has multiple phases (welp, the licker evolved only once but I'll count it anyway), and psychic powers.
Regarding Tammi the bully and believability: Had a bully like this in high school actually, straight up sociopath, was a bully to everyone simply because he was a hateful sonofabish. He wasn't around during my junior or senior years because apparently the dude had been killing a bunch of stray animals in his neighborhood and keeping the parts in his shed. Straight up psycho bullies are out there.
@@Plsrateeight I’m gonna assume they did since he says the guy was suddenly gone junior and senior year and they know about the dead animal parts. He was already a bully. He probably got arrested and when they found the dead animals put him in juve.
Since we've already looked at so many RE adaptations on this channel, I think we need a video at some point about the Silent Hill movies too Edit: Since I'm seeing replies about it I want to clarify I'm not suggesting the idea because I think the movies are as bad as the RE ones or bad at all. I would just like to see Elvis review them too since it's another classic horror game franchise adapted into movies like RE.
In my restless dreams, I see that town. Silent Hill. You promised me you'd take me there again someday. But you never did. Well, I'm alone there now... In our 'special place'... Waiting for you...
I stand behind the fact that the first movie is a solid horror experience that remains at least somewhat faithful to the games. The second one on the other hand is a mess and kind of stupid, but still a fun watch. I definitely agree that Elvis should cover these two movies.
yes, these aren't that bad to worth a sarcastic review, but i would like see him talk about movie 2 silly things, like the people burgers, the "They did this to me"and Pyramid carousel spinner...
I think the most important thing Hollywood types misunderstand about Resident Evil is that it’s not a typical zombie apocalypse schlock. In RE zombie outbreaks are like natural disasters localized to specific areas, and life goes on like normal everywhere else. RE is just as much clean labs and science experiments as much abandoned mansions and police stations. I think it lends it a very unique air.
It's what happens when the genwunner fanbase constantly harps on about how Resident Evil is a zombie series even though it always was about B.O.W.s and infectious viruses/plagas/whatever going berserk and not just some stock zombie shit.
The reason Jade’s daughter took the bag and left the boat is because that’s what Jade instructed her to do to escape Umbrella. Then moments later Jade went onto the island, summoned an army of zombies, ran back to the boat, and was like “where’s my daughter?”.
It's a shame really, I really liked the zombies in this show. They are fast and ferocious and genuinely felt like they could pose a threat, especially in large numbers, to even armed soldiers. Much more than I can say to zombies in say, later seasons of Walking Dead, when the zombies are so slow they seem only capable of catching humans when the screenwriters teleport them behind their victims offscreen.
The best way to adapt RE is to make it into a show and take all the great things from the Resident Evil games, comics, novels, cgi films, lore then blend them together with a good writer that understands Resident Evil. This show takes much more inspiration from left4dead, Walking dead, 28 days later, and even has the happy pills from "we happy few"
@@LucinaIRL I think OP is trying to compare them by zombies and the fact that the zombies run. Not the fact that L4D, 28 Days Later, Walking Dead and We Happy Few are clearly superior in comparison to this fan-fic. Lmao

@@BigManDaichi and when they all are old enough to understand good writing, then the makers will focus on the even younger audience. Kids and students are the ones with time on their hand to enjoy these forms of entertainment. I guess that's why they try to appeal to them. Like none of us would choose to watch will Smith be Aladdin when you've seen Robin Williams. I believe this is also the reason why marvel has been falling since end game, and obviously lack of good material. (I wouldn't call the MCU till end game a masterpiece, but it's certainly enjoyable)
The part where they play the Moonlight Sonota is a direct reference to Resident Evil one, where at some point in the game Jill has to play the Moonlight Sonata to open a door.

On one hand, you have these great shows and movies that just make buying a Netflix description worth it, and on the other hand, you have these god-awful shows and movies that make you question why you still have a Netflix subscription in the first place.
You know there is a timeline out there where George Romero finished his script for the first Resident Evil movie and produces it. In this timeline we would have probably one of the best video game to movie adaptations with some good sequels. Instead, we got the Anderson timeline and here we are.
I’ll be honest, I’ve been daydreaming about a Dark Souls show adaptation(written by myself, a young creative writing student), but I would rather never see it happen than see someone with no respect for the base material be in charge of it. I do not understand why producers and writers are so, so, so desperate to remake movies or make movies based off of books or other projects, but then have the audacity to not even respect the material they’re mooching off of. It’s insane.
It's because it'll make a quick buck. They know people like the property, so they'll use the property itself to prop up their horrible ideas. It's incredibly rare to see a halfway decent adaptation, let alone a good one
I haven’t played the games myself only watched play throughs but my younger brother has played some of em and knows the lore pretty well and he is absolutely LIVID about these movies/shows 😭
If you watch the show with subtitles it calls Billie in the past "Young Billie" so the suspense of her possibly dying is basically ruined two minutes in lol
Actually the Infected in L4D are called zombies too by some of the characters and in universe. But they're not really dead undead, and they have an idea that you don't have to be bitten to be infected, it just made more sense for the survivors to call them infected narritavely since they're always trying to talk and discuss the zombies with the government that's trying to contain the infection..
This is why me and my friend really like L4D's zombies. Also a character named Francis calls the infected vampires and another character named Bill, corrects Francis in an elevator, saying. "They're zombies Francis!"
The infected from L4D are also believed to still be capable of being helped if a cure is found, albeit the special infected may be long gone, if not prone to all kinds of issues that'll result from their mutations once they're cured of the Green Flu.
It should be a law that if you’re adapting something from one medium to another, you have to play/read/watch etc and pass a test to ensure you know what you’re doing
A lot of times transferring a game to a movie just doesn’t work very well. The silent hill movie was made by a super fan who was one of the only people in his country to own the game. He even made his crew play the ps2 on the set. But people still didn’t like it.
When I watch the show with subtitles every time the past Billy would talk it would refer to her as young Billie implying there was an older Billie so that kinda gave it away too.
I think the biggest problem when Hollywood attempts to adapt Resident Evil is they focus on this new character and places them in the shoes or place of previously known characters.
If only there was a second season. I would like to see Tyrant working as a high-school teacher, trying to get by, while being harassed by evil Telegram trolls, or something.
Can we talk for a sec about how older jade has the most "I just got out of hairsalon" hairdo ever, despite being supposedly a random outcast in the post apocalypse. Sure, it's a detail, but it's pretty fascinating to see so much effort put into something that should have been done way more simply.
Just too big a generational gap between those that make the movie and those that are portrayed in it. Then add in the typical netflix formula (honestly surprised there wasn't a guy in a wheelchair or sth) and you get some new-gen generic bullshit, with "that's how the kids of today sound, right?" dialogue. I'm probably like 20 years younger than whoever signed off on this garbage show and even I couldn't tell you how the youth of today talks. All I know is that it's hella weird to me, so how the shit would I be able to write authentic dialogue? Netflix just has their MO and if shit works they continue, if it doesn't they just drop it; ad infinitum.
"Why does alber wesker use the same simple password for very confidential work stuff"....Oh Elvis....This is actually the most believable part of the show. Ask anyone who works in corp security. The higher up the chain, the worse their security know how.

@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 Absolutely - and back in the day, ''zombie'' was related to dying and coming ''back'' in L4D people don't die they just become absolutely rabid when infected
Imagine if season 1 focused on them bumbling around with a "free the test animals" plot which is how the virus is released and they saved the time jump for a second or third season 🤔 And actually had Jade being picked up from the scavenger/human trafficking camp by S.T.A.R.S. and gave us actual RE characters 😭 Could've had Wesker experimenting on Billie like Alice in the Anderson movies and made him gradually lose his sanity amidst grief and desperation and become the Wesker from the games, with Jade having a real arc as she tries and fails to cure Billie being an antithesis to Wesker's way of saving her. And Baxter could have been a higher up that wrestled control of Wesker's research to further weaponize it and create greater bioweapon threats, which would then justify him wanting Jade to transform her into a superior bioweapon to Billie.
I already stated if they made this show and didn't milk the resident evil franchise I would be fine with it. But they took one of my most beloved things and shit on it then presented it to me... then called me a racist when I didn't want to consume it.
The cinematography and set design was great in the show. I loved Umbrella's red/black/white color scheme and how it was strictly used. The design and look of the zombies, and the post-apocalypse world was visually stunning. Lance Reddick was the star of the show, and the most entertaining to watch. And Paola Nunez was having the time of her life playing the role, and she was very easy to watch. Everything about Umbrella was also really cool and fun. They really embraced the evil insanity of the corp. The writing was awful for 80% of the show. When i was watching the show, my enjoyment went up when I started skipping everything about the sister drama in the flashbacks. I recommend everyone just skip ahead when the two girls are on screen together.

No you aren't overthinking it, I literally thought that the whole show and a lot more dumb things I noticed I really just don't understand why they adapted so many different plot points and ways the story could go instead of just making a good RE adaption, they literally just used the RE name and made a completely separate show besides like using umbrella here and there in dialogue and Albert wesker and that's like it lmao

Ah yes, Albert Wesker. The caring single father of his two adopted kids who turn out to be science experiments, including himself. It's just like in the video games!(Yeah, I know he *is* a bit of a science experiment in the games, but not really in the way that the show pitches.)
If I recall correctly, he was experimented on to try and create an ubermensch type figure by a eugenicist, but Wesker doesn't believe those principles. Albert Wesker in the games is a social darwinist
The sad trend about video game adaptations is that they will always be made by people who don’t understand the messages or meaning of the games and will just end up making bad or mediocre fan fiction.

The reason that most zombie related media calls them anything but a zombie is because a while ago like on the 80s-90s marvel had copywrited the word “zombie” so other companies had use find other ways to use the creatures without using the word “zombie” but they lost the right after it became a widely used word, but now a days it’s just kind of a trend to not call them zombies
They lost the right in 1996, but it is somewhat of a trend.
But they are though…
They ARE zombies.

Lots of love to Lance. No matter the material, no matter the script, no matter the direction; whatever he was in, he was great.

Yep
The thing about this show is, nothing Jade does in the past has any stakes because we see her as an adult so we know she lives. And the subtitles say "younger billie" so we also know that she's going to live...
The writers most likely didn't know how to hide those kinds of details from the viewer.

If there is one thing I can't stand in horror movies is when you go "Why don't they just do this? Yeah, obviously that's going to... yeah, there you go."
If you actually want a story to be scary, you need the characters to do everything right and STILL things went to sh*t.
Or since the show takes place after the original Raccoon City outbreak, Birkin's wife could've simply died in the outbreak.
...Was that a fucking CWC reference in the last bit there? XD
I mean, there's no reason why Birkin would've had to be a single dad. If both parents are overworked and neglectful of their daughter(s), you don't even need to kill off the spouse.

She is forgettable to her daughter just like her father. Ignorant of danger.

This is also the major reason why Disney successfully reboots every single animated film they've made (except for Mulan, ofc). Like none of us would choose to watch will Smith be Aladdin when you've seen Robin Williams. I believe this is also the reason why marvel has been falling since end game, and obviously lack of good material. (I wouldn't call the MCU till end game a masterpiece, but it's certainly enjoyable)
I miss the days when directors and writers did actual research before producing a movie/ show.
Now they just take something they know has a huge fan base and try to twist it into “theirs” but all they do is ruin things
The part where they play the Moonlight Sonota is a direct reference to Resident Evil one, where at some point in the game Jill has to play the Moonlight Sonata to open a door.
Makes the original 2002 RE film look like a masterpiece by comparison. At least it was cancelled after just one fail season. Hopefully the same will happen to Paramount's awful Halo show too.

I'm usually pretty good at shutting my brain off and just enjoying a piece of entertainment regardless of how glaringly awful parts of it are, but man I really struggled with this show.

Resident Evil: "Finally the adaptations are over"
Netflix: "Well, yes...but actually no"
You know there is a timeline out there where George Romero finished his script for the first Resident Evil movie and produces it.

I haven’t played the games myself only watched play throughs but my younger brother has played some of em and knows the lore pretty well and he is absolutely LIVID about these movies/shows 😭
Tell him the series RE in Netflix is good to fool him enough then break the news upon the last episode that it was sh$t.
If you watch the show with subtitles it calls Billie in the past "Young Billie" so the suspense of her possibly dying is basically ruined two minutes in lol
0:10 *blinks* what resident evil... Ah, thanks Elvis! *continues the video.*
Nah, he said shows and movies not games.
@@fajararsy_saiga9567 Yeah but he used a special zombie from L4D as an example
This is why me and my friend really like L4D's zombies. Also a character named Francis calls the infected vampires and another character named Bill, corrects Francis in an elevator, saying. "They're zombies Francis!"
I love L4D's zombies due to them being kind of believable, a rabies virus mutating into something worse.
They need prescription glasses 5000+ when they read the script like this.
and maybe write an essay on the main idea and give a book report. Only then, if they pass it and get an A can they make an adaptation!

And actually had Jade being picked up from the scavenger/human trafficking camp by S.T.A.R.S. and gave us actual RE characters 😭 Could've had Wesker experimenting on Billie like Alice in the Anderson movies and made him gradually lose his sanity amidst grief and desperation and become the Wesker from the games, with Jade having a real arc as she tries and fails to cure Billie being an antithesis to Wesker's way of saving her.
And Baxter could have been a higher up that wrestled control of Wesker's research to further weaponize it and create greater bioweapon threats, which would then justify him wanting Jade to transform her into a superior bioweapon to Billie.
I found the younger girls storyline more interesting then present time🤦🏻♀️
I already stated if they made this show and didn't milk the resident evil franchise I would be fine with it.
