Carnage had his design changed, his personality changed (Ironically he was supposed to be zanier), and his motives removed. In the movie he kinda just decides he wants to take out Venom for no reason, instead of being a victim of cruelty by Venom like how he was in the comics.
I feel he wasnt done justice.
      I loved the movie anyway.

@@animezilla4486 Look at Logan, if nothing else the R rating allowed them to actually do how Wolverine fights justice for the first time. Just like Logan, the way Cletus fights is brutal and messy. The guy turns his limbs into various pointy implements of death and goes to town.
Even if it wasn't written like an R movie, giving it that rating for the action alone would let them do Carnage justice. Future movies wouldn't need to keep that rating if it was solely used to portray how Carnage fights and he never showed up again.

For we must all appear before “the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)
We will be judged for every deed we do whether is be good or bad. This isn’t something to worry about even if our bad deeds out weigh our good. Because none are good before God, all have sinned against Him and cursed His name, but He in His tender loving mercy hath given us His Son as our ransom. When Jesus was dying all of Gods wrath and judgement was poured out onto Him even though He was sinless. He was sacrificed and tortured on our behalf though we are sinful and carnal. Christ payed our sin debt with His perfect sinless blood so we may escape judgment and have everlasting life. But this great gift is only for those who accept it and accept Him ❤️

He looked really dull and sort of mate which doesn't really work with the whole fact that he is a symbiote and is foreign to Earth. Making him look gooey and more slimy and more as a sickening slime made him look WAY more alien and foreign rather than him being all dull, another problem with Venom being dull is that he doesn't nearly stick out as much and it brings less attention to him and sort of makes him look like a matte muddy mass.

      @Rigiroony 2 года назад +46

I'm not sure if this is the reason or not....but I'm an animation student. Shiny things take much longer render. Like WAY longer because of the complex lighting math the computer has to do. In my school we're told to lower the specularity (shineyness) because our computers aren't that good. Otherwise our renders will never be done on time. The time from my most recent project went from 15 minutes per frame to 5 minutes. So it's a big difference.
However, this is a big studio that definitely has a render farm. But the animation in the second one is significantly worse. I'm not sure what the situation was but time is usually the culprit when it comes to vfx and overall animation.

These reviews were fantastic. I was skeptical of venom without spider man before seeing the first movie, but I actually think it works quite well. Venom 1 successfully made me care about and be invested in Eddie Brock as the protagonist (occasional idiot and “loser” that he is) and gave a reasonable origin for Venom all on his own. To me, that was very impressive because in other media he is so tied to spider-man. I wish Venom 2 had given Venom more to do than bicker with Eddie, break up, and have a final battle, but there are still scenes in enjoyed in that movie. I just didn’t like it much as a whole and really hope they step it up with Venom 3. I liked the first Venom a lot.

I feel like critiquing this franchise at this point is just kicking a dead horse. We know it’s not amazing, and has its flaws. But it’s all for entertainment and just that alone. The same way we viewed action for years, just lots of booms and bangs and crashes that are insanely fun to see and laugh at. It’s all about the showmanship and having a fun time in the theatre. We could sit here and pick apart marvel and Sony all day but it’s just not worth it. They’re over budgeted films, that are made to appeal to all generations and all viewers in some way or another. I wouldn’t say they’re cringe at all, they’re just another addition to a franchise that’s never going to be perfect but does well regardless.
I feel like if this is cringe, then deadpool is straight up ick haha. They’re very similar films. Extremely similar films and the characters are portrayed in very similar ways. And I know the same people who adore deadpool are ones who are very vocal about these films not being up to par.

I really tried to enjoy Venom 2 but the fact that they watered down Kassidy/Carnage to this tragic sympathetic figure really let me down.
Kassidy was already a terrifying person, even without the symbiote. A psychopathic serial killer with limited impulse control and takes pleasure in what he does. Then give him the symbiote and he's a hundred times more dangerous. This is one of the most terrifying villains in Marvel comics. Even the 90s Spiderman cartoon played up the horror whenever he was on screen, giving this little girl nightmares for days.
You said the scene where Carnage throws someone off the bridge was a good way to showcase how ruthless he is...well I would up that ante and go back to the prison.
After Carnage kills the guards, warden, and the executioner; he turns to face the cheering prisoners who are more than happy for the 'jail break'. Carnage gets a strange gleeful look in his eyes, and realizing this, the prisoners get quiet. Cue the absolute Carnage that ensues, as he tears through the prisoners. Since it's technically a PG-13 film, I would also settle with the camera panning in front of a blurry window and seeing a silhouette of the psycho tearing through the prisoners. After he gets done Carnage finally breaks out of prison, shifting into Kassidy who proceeds to whistle as he walks away.
Kassidy IS ruthless. He is a monster through and through.
Also no matter how many people like Shriek (heck I like Shriek), I really don't see Kassidy going out of his way to save her. Much less be this lovey dovey with her. If Kassidy were to have someone around, it would only benefit him to an extent. Think of it like the toxic relationship between Joker and Harley.
You have a vulnerable girl, who is a mutant, with no family whatsoever. Perhaps she was abandoned by them. That would explain why she would be so attached to Kassidy who showed affection, and have a sort of loyalty to him. She loves him, but he would be more than happy to throw her under a non-metaphorical bus just to see her splat.
Then there is the Carnage symbiote...hoo boy.
One of the most fascinating things about Carnage as a whole, is that unlike other symbiote hosts, which refers to themselves as 'we', Carnage/Kassidy refers to the two as 'I'. He and his relationship with his symbiote, is so PERFECT. They act as if they are a single entity. Their mind is undivided. It's also why he's more dangerous compared to Venom. Eddie and his symbiote have an up and down relationship, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. And sometimes that affects their fighting. You don't see that with Carnage. His relationship is perfect all the time, with little to no arguments. Kassidy's relationship with his symbiote would be a great foil to play against Eddie and Venom's dynamic.
I would up the horror most definitely with Venom 2. Let there be actual carnage and up the ante.

Not sure if this was answered yet and I know it's a bit late, but the Symbiotes can bond with anyone. Depending on the Symbiote, both the person and the Symbiote can influence each other. Like when Venom bonded with Deadpool he actually was just as crazy as Deadpool for a bit, or when Patrick Mulligan was teaching Toxin to be a hero and a nicer being.

of note: in the most recent spiderman movie with all 3 spidermen in it, after the credits, eddie brock (from the venom movies) is talking to a bartender asking him about how the thanos incident happened as if he knew nothing about it, and he left some symbiote goo on the bartop before disappearing (assumedly going back to his world after everything in that movie was resolved)
so assumedly the next spiderman movie will have a NEW symbiote with the marvel spiderman, keeping the two movies seperate to some degree while also having venom as a villain for spiderman.

I would say I definitely agree these movies are hurt by severing the Spider-Man connection entirely. The whole "Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man" concept in general just rubs me the wrong way, like Sony just can't have them side stories to MCU Spidey because they don't have a lot of control over that. And it looks to be even more of a clusterfuck with Morbius.
I do object to that End of Evangelion meme about a forgettable soundtrack... like who can forget the moment the world was turned to orange goo while Komm, süsser Tod was playing in the background?

You there was an easy fix to Eddie and “Venom’s” relationship. Instead of retreading what they did in the first movie, it could’ve started with Venom doing his thing as the lethal protector while also helping Eddie fix his career as a journalist. Both helping each other’s passions. But the symbiote begins acting weird and more aggressive. It doesn’t initially want to tell Eddie why which makes Eddie realize that while the symbiote knows EVERYTHING about Eddie, Eddie doesn’t know much about the symbiote. But upon more and more arguments with the symbiote seemingly craving more and more bodies, the symbiote reveals that it’s pregnant. Eddie can be confused because he doesn’t understand that the symbiote can produce its own offspring by itself. And the whole thing about the symbiote being moody or whatever could be played for laughs. Heck, Eddie might blackout at times and wake up with dead bodies around him (if they were gonna go the rated R route which they should’ve). Point is, that throughout the film, they could still be working on their relationship with Eddie trying to understand the symbiote but being occupied with his own passions. But because Eddie and the symbiote aren’t in sync, Eddie isn’t aware that the symbiote offspring was released into Cassidy the moment Cassidy bit into Eddie. Eddie is just focused on Venom lashing out, but Venom is pissed because Eddie doesn’t seem to care about it or even listen to it. This movie could’ve gone places, dammit.
