Yeah. "The matrix" in this scene is clearly capitalism. The whole 'you are a slave' in another scene makes it pretty clear which concepts the leftist writers of the movie wanted to discuss.
Every scene, every piece of dialogue coming from Morpheus and smith are amongst the best ever made in my opinion. Considering the age of this movie and it still holds up against any movie these days.

I stood in the location a few weeks ago where this was filmed in Sydney. It's different but the bones are still there. It's funny because when you're there you notice this scene was actually filmed in 3 different spots. So in reality when scene starts and Morpheus says 'the matrix is a system', the fountain is actually behind the camera and the characters are walking away from it. Movie magic.

I have a question! So when people like Neo wake up and unplug from the matrix and live in the real world in their real bodies, they go missing in the simulation right? Wouldn’t that cause a glitch in the matrix. They only go back when they plug in. But the rest of the days when they are just off chilling in the ship, does it create a ripple effect for this missing life they had. Like does their apartment just stay empty? Their job, their coworkers notice he’s missing? Friends? What if they had a family? Does it cause a weird ripple like someone leaving a cult or some other group think type atmosphere?
When you come home from work and meditate does everyone now think you are a missing person? When you suddenly realize that politicians are corrupt do you just die on the spot? When you recognize your wrong doing due to conditioning and change your behaviour does everyone try to kill you?
Maybe the simulation is designed to auto-reprogram itself and remove all memories of people who "unplugged" from the brains of those who are still plugged in. A way for the machines to prevent people from noticing such anomalies and becoming lucid.
