Lisa and Josh makes the Camino looks like a breeze but the truth is it takes resilience , preserverance , high threshole of pain and immense ingenuity and adaptabilities to complete the whole route , i am truly inspired by both of you , well done

Just to share my two cents: I have done the Central Portuguese Camino starting in Barcelos. I started on March 16, 2020, and had to stop at the border between Portugal and Spain in Valença due to the advancing of the pandemic. I got back then in September 2021 to the place I had stopped and completed it to Santiago, and then to Muxia and Finisterre. It was a great time in September, as the weather was perfect and there were many pilgrims along the way. But I would say a right balance, as you can decide to keep walking introspectively if you want, and then open up as you deem fit. I also stayed in private small hotels, with my private room and bathroom, which was perfect and very convent. The Portuguese Camino starting in Porto is an excellent option for someone that has say only 15 days available. I am know planning to do the Camino Primitivo (around 330 km). I would the Portuguese Camino would be perfect in May and September, the best weather seasons.

I love Caminho da Costa! Your videos is like a time travel machine for me, I imagine that I'm there with you walking again) Some sweet memories!
I walked my Camino Portugues in the beginning of May. There were a lot more peregrinos, cafes and albergues. It was a mix of chill vibe while walking the costal route and a lot of fun walking by the other pelegrinos after all three routes came together. I usually recall that loud group of about 5-7 Italian guys and girls with a smile on my face) They were so funny!

Excellent video and comments! Please try one time the Camino Primitivo and make a documentary. You will love it! It can be done in 2 weeks and it is not the most traditional and best known (that would be the Frances), but it is amazingly beautiful, the king of Asturias was the first one ever doing this way (Oviedo to Santiago) when the tomb of Saint James the Apóstol were found in Santiago, the very first Camino is the Primitivo, you make great videos, it would be amazing seeing a documentary from you guys on the Camino Primitivo

Hello Lisa and Josh! Thank you so much for this video! I have just started thinking that I may do the Camino Portuguese in October but it is still in the infancy stage -so not quite fully adopted yet. I, like many others, was all set (packed, flights, everything!) to head out on the Frances in May 2020 but, yup, the universe had other ideas for us all. So, now I have a friend in Portugal who I am able stay with as a home base and with 24 days vaca, I could possibly do this! Both of your opinions were so wonderful and I really enjoyed how you explained the differences between the two Caminos. I think that this is what I needed to get me started on the pilgrimage path. Cheers!

Iam starting Camino Francés May 16. But I had a hard time deciding between Frances and Portuguese for my first camino. I had two note books at the same time with an itinerary for both. I would flop between the 2 every week than finally made the decision to do the Frances At 64 years old thought I would do the longer one first and the shorter Portuguese from Porto next if I get a chance. If I get a chance to do the Portuguese from Porto I will do the coastal all the way, that I know for sure. Love the ocean. Don't forget the Del Norte might be calling your name ha ha.

Started my comment with the below, then started at the top to see all you experienced. I feel good about this. Less fears than below:
I’ve been getting more and more afraid to even consider doing the Camino, on any route. I’m near 75. Is this stupid of me? Is it even a possibility for me? How can I put it all together on my own? The flight, the rooms, the walk itself. Those are questions I ask myself. I’m leaning more towards, yes, I can do this. After watching this, I’m thinking the Portuguese route might be better. I hadn’t even thought of it but wished so much that I could walk along the ocean. I saw a RUclips that described that route, the walk along the ocean, as being very difficult. Maybe not the route you guys took exactly? I need to do something spectacular after the loss of my husband. I’m thinking he might join me in some way, my surfer boy, if I walk along the ocean. Thank you for this. I’m going to review all your RUclipss now, along this route, to understand the ups and downs. Bien Camino

I suspect Josh's diet goal was a bust by the end.
From videos, I have the impression Frances is more of a cultural experience whilst the others are much less so. I'd do Frances but likely do a walk around Mt Blanc or the Swiss Haute Route rather than the other Camino routes.

I completed the Norte, 2 years ago and I'm on the Portugues Camino, right now but I don't really have an interest in the Frances route. (Too many people) The Portugues route is more enjoyable just don't ask my feet or ankles that.

@@jackg7225this may be a bit late, but thnx for the info. For me too, if I only had 1 chance to do the Camino, I'd do the Portuguese route (have watched vids of Frances & Portuguese). In the Frances, sure the Pyrenees mountains are beautiful but the route seems too crowded and commercial already. Because I don't like the cold, I'll likely be walking in late spring to early autumn, so those months would be peak season. I'd rather choose a less popular route - fewer ppl, more chances for accommodation. Cheers!

@@kitty_s23456 I was just thinking of the Camino yesterday. Kind of miss it. I felt like my Portuguese Camino was rushed so at the end of the suummer (mid Sept to mid Oct) I went back and did most of the Del Mar and all of the English way and the last 100 of the Primitivo over a month. I think the Del Mar was the prettiest but the infrastructure is not really there. I only saw 3-5 others walking that Camino and there was a lot of up and downs. The English had a moderate number of people a couple of good climbs but I survived. The Primitive wasn’t too bad until it joined up to the Frances and then there were so many people. I’m not sure I’ll go back. It was fun to meet people, it was a good experience but maybe I’ve had my fill of it with a total of over 1100 miles all together. Having walked in late spring, mid summer and early fall, the cooler temps along the coast really helped me vs the hotter temps when I turned off the coast. If I can talk one of my kids into doing a Camino with me, I would probably do the Portuguese Coastal route again. Buen Camino

@@jackg7225 thnx for the info. I would probably have 2 weeks only, so I'd walk either the coastal Portuguese route, the Del Norte or Primitivo. I've seen more vids of the Frances end part (from Sarria) and there's just too many people (for me). I hope you get to walk it again with your kids. Cheers & buen camino!
