It’s refreshing seeing a channel with genuine content that a regular person can relate to. Don’t get me wrong it’s cool seeing all these luxury videos but I can’t relate to it at all. This I can actually relate to and it has many tips for when I take my trip to Japan in the future. Thank you and keep up the great content.
Love all your videos, especially the longer ones! It’s like watching a movie. Josh, STAY on your soapbox because i don’t know anyone who can afford to travel the way these “influencers” do. Thank you for offering a REAL perspective with attainable travel goals. Also love the cost breakdown at the end of each video. 👏🏾
Love these longer-format videos. You two are by far my favorite travel vloggers on RUclips. Such genuine, thoughtful, and well-produced content. Thank you!!!
Haven’t finished watching this video, but I have to say, you guys have made my future trip to Japan more exciting and less fearful. You give great info on what to eat, what to see, and what to expect when traveling to Kyoto/Osaka. Thank you so much for your vids 🙂
I have to agree! Going for my first time in 2 days, and this video helped me more than any so far! I didn't even know about Ubigi until just now... and now I actually have better coverage at home lolol
Came from a video of people that flew business class, stayed in expensive hotels, ate expensive food and used taxis to get everywhere, to this video and since I'm trying to pull off 3 1/2 weeks in £2000, this is really appreciated😂
How did you do? This is incredibly doable for 1 person if your flights and hotels have been paid for, you don’t have any big events and you have time to travel slow meaning cheaper travel instead of bullet trains! I spent 1000 in 12 days. But if I miss the clothes shopping it was around 500 quid. So it can be done!
you both are AMAZING!!! we travel with out 2 kids and have been blessed to travel many places and this is exactly how we travel , my kids at their you age have learned to appreciate all the do have and enjoy all that is given to them. You video is amazing! wish I knew how to do all this to show how a family with 2 little ones can travel on a budget too.
editing tip: every time you buy something and have the cash popup, play the noise first immediately before the popup, and let the popup linger so that viewers can read it without having to backtrack. i found myself backtracking constantly because im trying to learn
I love that Japan does have so much delicious budget priced foods! It’s most of my travelling and living experiences there. Agree, that you notice the change in numbers of people growing over time! In the early 90’s we caught the overnight Friday bus from Tokyo but did splurge on a beautiful ryokan stay by the Philosophers path (not that we knew it was called that at that time). Then the Sunday evening bullet train back. Only 2 full days in Kyoto, but it worked for us at that time living there on a budget. July 2014 we returned as a family and stayed for 2 nights in Kyoto and 2 nights in Nara. A lot busier but still loved it. Then January 2020 just my daughter and I were there but really slowed the pace. After arriving in Arashiyama from Amanohashidate we stayed one night and I loved the quiet afternoon once everyone left. Then arrived mid morning in Nara for 2 nights and left our bags with our budget hotel reception, and again the explored the park in the later part of the afternoon once crowd numbers went down. For me that’s definitely the plus side of staying nearby. From there we slowed it even more by staying in Kyoto for 5 nights (3 weeks in Japan in total) and I agree, it really made for a wonderful non rushed holiday. But it wasn’t my first time, so I get the need for less time in places to see and travel more if it’s going to be a one off time. Looking forward to where in Japan you headed to next.
I love your videos, especially your travels in Japan. You both are charismatic and are natural in your presentations. Your personalities come through in your videos and give the viewer the feeling that we are watching friends on their travels. This makes watching an hour long video a pleasure. And yes, I appreciate your style of travel of sticking to a budget, finding restaurants frequented by locals, and eating great food at a reasonable price. Best wishes on your travels and growth of your channel. Gord
I'm so excited! Watching this while working right now, but can't wait to be able to give this my undevided attention. I've learned the most from watching you all explore Japan than probably any other content creators. And enjoyed every minute of it, too. Educational, and fun to watch
I commend you on your quest to keep under budget. Definitely not an easy task, and as you mentioned in the video, it is so easy to splurge. The gems you found are even more memorable because of your search and we love you guys for sharing. The sitting fee was a total downer, but the other highlights made up for that! We will definitely be trying out your places on our next trip!
Great video Guys! Love the content and vibe. You are absolutely right. This is a real video about real people traveling, eating and getting the most value out of their hard earned dollars. Keep up the good work!
This is the most wholesome video on Osaka and Kyoto. I love it because it gives me so much inspiration and excitement especially when it comes to biking.
You two are such an inspiration. I found you on RUclips a couple of months ago and watched a lot of your vlogs. Ever since I have been looking out for your new vlogs. You are two very positive minded people (and I am sure you have experienced less positive moments on your travels lol, but still keep it positive). Keep up the good work, Lisa and Josh, and keep on inspiring people around the world to make what some people think is impossible, possible. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Your videographer skills are so awesome. You have captured Kyoto from so many angles and provided invaluable nuggets of info for anyone curious about the Kyoto experience. Congrats 🎊
I love how real this video is! My partner was like I dont think they ever went back for the second shot on the same spot. I love how chill you guys are as well. ❤❤
Thank you guys for making these kind of videos. Me, my husband and my 2 teens are traveling in a budget. It is my son’s graduation wish so here I am getting crazy on how to budget for the hotels, meals and transportation but still have good memories with them. Thank you and I am so blessed to stumble on your videos. You guys are awesome. Wish us luck! 😜
I thought I had a short attention span, but I can’t believe I just finished your video and was like: wait that’s one hour? Very nice and genuine content ❤
so true,a budget travel is a good video to watch rather than other youtubers who spends a very expensive transportations and restaurants not everybody can afford, loved watching your videos.
Hands down you two are freaking awesome!! I’m heading to Japan in 5 days and watching your time here INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE. Love you content. Honest and down to earth.
The both of you are so cute! Thanks for taking us along on your adventure! You made me laugh out loud several times in your video. Looked like you had a lot of fun there! I enjoyed my time in Kyoto last year and I am planning to go back next year. Can’t wait!
I was meant to go to sleep ages ago and found your video and it was so worth the less sleep. Brilliant. Thanks for being real and relatable and so easy to watch. Can't wait for more (especially Japan stuff!) 😊
This video is exactly what I needed! My trips coming up and I’ve been super nervous about (daily) budgeting. But this video definitely eased some of my concerns! Thank you!
Hi Lisa and Josh! Loved this video and love your channel! You two are fun to watch and your commentaries/insights are much appreciated. Your video brought back so many memories of my time in Kyoto and Osaka, I enjoyed living vicariously through you. The Nara trip was the most amusing, RIP Lisa's jacket! Thanks for sharing all the places you went to (some were new to me) and please do more of the longer format!
Such an informative insight for someone prospecting a holiday in Japan. I always find videos are to extremes, spending money unrealistically or pushing the budget way to much. This examples how to just have a good ol normal holiday, having fun but being wise also! Thank-you.
This is super useful- I'm headed to Japan in 3 weeks time and have a budget if about £1500 for 14 days (not including flights). Most travel vloggers seem to spend an absolute fortune, which for me is completely unattainable.
Thank Ya'll So Much For Making These Videos. Its Great That Ya'll Talk About The Budget, The Food🤤🤤 The Excursions, And Everything. It Really Gives An Accurate Perspective. Thank You!
Thank you guys for this awesome video with so much information to get inspo from! And I love the $100 a day mission and really share a lot of sentiments from what Josh said.
Honestly one of the best videos for touring on a limited budget. Plus solid intro to Onsen/Sento usage, nice one 👍 (that first time is always a little nerve wracking), may have to add Spa World to to list of things to do
I agree about budgeting. For our stay in Tokyo we focused mostly on transport, hotel, entrance fees for parks, and then our food was from a convenience store. We wanted to take photos more than spend on luxury food. I like having a comfy hotel if I stay longer in an area, helps me relax from the traveling. We might go back to visit Kyoto and I think a lot of the things you did are going to make it to our itinerary. Thanks for being realistic about your visit and straying into places that aren't heavily advertised. New subscriber here

Oh it's the famous Kichi Kichi Omurice restaurant ! Didn't know it was affordable. You said you make reservation one month in advance , i'm hook . On the budget note , it's what hook me on the video. I will return to kansai in february and i like to see some of the suggestion you offert here. I'm not rich at all, i save every months for my travel so i'm glad some people like you can give us tips on my next travel. Like you said , tons of video with incredible and expensive stuff on youtube. I kinda like watching them too but i prefer when i saw things that i can do by myself ; it need to be somewhat afordable and that why i liked your video. PS: i went in early march (2023) in Nara and it was awesome. I went to a brewery too , and for 500Y and i could taske 6 different sake! Best 500Y of my life so far .Also , i think so few people come to see the ceremonies of Omizutori at the Todaiji temple . But it was amazing. It could be one of the oldest recurring Buddhist events in Japan and because it's a budget video , i've got to say : it's FREE !
You just took one of my precious hours, but I assure you that your video is very valuable to watch before going to Japan! Thank you for the sumo part; I found it very amusing. I will be traveling to Japan this April and will use your experiences as my reference.😎😉
You Guys Are Awesome 👌 ❤ Out Of All The Videos On Japan Yours Is The Best !! Your Videos Are Real, Informative and Addictive. LOVE From India 🇮🇳 ♥️ Am Your New Sub
There is a Kansai thru pass that gets you 3 days of unlimited travel (does not have to be 3 consecutive days) within Kansai regio- which includes all the places you visited in this video and more. It's around 35-40 USD with taxes, it includes trains and buses but not the JR/shinkasen trains-which you guys were avoiding anyway due to costs-so it would've worked for this trip. If you concentrate your most expensive days on the pass maybe that could've saved you a little bit as you rented bikes one day in Kyoto, so theres only one day out of 5 days you would have to use the Pasmo for. Maybe try it next time, I wondered if it was worth it when I got it because I didn't want to do the math and calculate each potential train trip to where we were going and things can change like the weather or what we wanted to do-so many variables! I was pretty happy with it by the end of our trip because you don't have to think about anything you just go, since its already paid for you almost want to get the most out of it and take more trains and go farther etc. I would like to see if you guys find its more economical! And I love this style of video format and concept because you are right, not everyone travels without thinking about costs, this is more realistic budget. When I first went to Japan, I went ready to spend anything and cut costs through our flight booking so that I could eat and buy whatever/whenever. I will be returning with a larger group and I would like to travel in the way you guys did for this video because it's more affordable for them. thanks a lot!
My wife and I will be traveling to Japan for our 2nd time in the near future. We spent our first trip entirely in Tokyo. This time we actually have an itinerary to visit Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara. This video was super informative, and i love that you actually took a budget into account instead of just saying screw it spend all the money.
When I went to hotel management school many, many years ago. We were told that tourists will have a budget.... and usually blow it!!! What the hell, so long as you are enjoying yourself right?!
Really great video! Just returned from a Japan trip myself^^ Sadly we only had two days in Kyoto among a 7 day roundtrip to western Japan (taking full advantage of that JR Pass just before the price increase xD) and frankly one of them we actually spent in Himeji rather than Kyoto, but this definitely inspired me to spend some more time in Kyoto when I get the chance again^^
Great tips in here. I will look up some of those restaurants you showed. And i do not find that you budget too much. I saw some youtubers who are way worse. But I feel people who spend more do not necessarily get more bang for the buck...quite the opposite. So your hotel room was small but totally fine and clean....it is not like some 5 dollar dump in Bangkok with fan only, where you are dying of heat...you are doing it the right way!
i had a great bowel movement at the kyoto imperial palace back in the days, i usualy would avoid squat toilets but i just had to go on this particular occasion , it was pretty satisfying

This and your Tokyo video are so inspiring and informative, really getting me pumped for my trip! Thank you.
Excellent!! Travelling to Japan in the fall. Loved the video and your personal perspectives. Will now check out your others! Thanks so much!
Wow ¥1,100 = approx $7.59 for a dinner
That’s the best budget meal I hv ever seen!!!
Da best!!!

Thank you for doing the budget video's. I feel like I can relate and get ideas on how to travel affordable and sustainable.
Fushimi Inari is also fantastic in the evening. It's open all night long and lit up, so it's actually beautiful at night
Kyoto is an absolute favorite. The whole place is such a vibe.
Great video thank you guys for this fun vlog! I appreciate all the info for eating on a budget. Looking forward to more
When I went to hotel management school many, many years ago. We were told that tourists will have a budget.... and usually blow it!!! What the hell, so long as you are enjoying yourself right?!
I agree with comment It’s better sit and look at the architecture. Than just go to the top.
Aaaaaah! Kyoto is always amazing!!
Very good video.👍🦘🇦🇺Support from Down Under 👍🇦🇺🦘
I enjoyed your video😊
The Chinese restaurant is one of the famous chain in Japan.
I look forward your next video😊
Really appreciate the budget breakdown!
Love all your videos best video that i like the most is the one which was very long … Thats awesome
Great video! So many helpful tips, I especially appreciated the onsen guide. We're going to Japan in late November for the first time 🙂.
Hello my friend 🙋🙋🇨🇭
Very Very good 💓💓
Tank you for charging ❤
Great tips in here. I will look up some of those restaurants you showed. And i do not find that you budget too much. I saw some youtubers who are way worse. But I feel people who spend more do not necessarily get more bang for the buck...quite the opposite. So your hotel room was small but totally fine and clean....it is not like some 5 dollar dump in Bangkok with fan only, where you are dying of heat...you are doing it the right way!
Thank you for such an informative video. I'll be going in December
Fantastic. You guys are amazing.
Cover charge normally stands on entrance, so it's not a surprising charge.
It's always important to keep eyes open.
Thank you again!
wow, thanks so much!!! :)
i had a great bowel movement at the kyoto imperial palace back in the days, i usualy would avoid squat toilets but i just had to go on this particular occasion , it was pretty satisfying
Cutest couple team, and was the deer bowing? 😂 thanks for the whole video.
