Thanks for this look. I've been seriously considering purchasing one of these after doing a lot of number crunching against the Tesla Model 3. All I've seen online is love for the Tesla. But when I crunched the actuals it didn't add up. A lot of people will leave off insurance, and tire costs. Which really eat up any savings you would get from the less expensive electrical power use. Even 10 years out the Prius was still the winner in costs. I also find the styling boring, and fit and finish a problem they just don't seem to care about. Up until about a month ago I hadn't realized all the parts that were replaced by the method the I4 works to generate it's power. They made it a much more robust engine in doing so. Thanks for the under hood.

The fact that you count for insurance and tires puts you miles ahead of the Tesla bois. Remember that Tesla still makes more money selling carbon credits than cars, meaning Tesla isn't motivated to address their issues with Quality Control or depreciation.

Just bought a 2024 Limited AWD. Couldn't be happier. Just had my first fill up and was averaging 46 MPG, and that's with a lot of sitting in the car in cold weather learning the plethora of functions. lol My current tank has me at 51 MPG on regular gas. The car is super cool, a, comfy and solid. just under 500 on the new car and i love it. You will not be disappointed.

No serpentine belt to replace and easy to service engine bay. 52MPG as well. A win for Toyota

very cool that they now have lithium-ion battery pack charging and supplementing the auxiliary systems, it’ll be nice to see later in time if the longevity is more or less

Do you know if there's a timing chain or a belt?

Don’t think any different from third generation Toyota Prius using a timing chain.

The variable cam timing actuators are typically located on the end of the cam with the timing gear.

Can spark plugs be replaced without removing windshield cowling and components?

1:40 you confused with spark plugs and fuel injections.

Ummm. Nope. We described all four spark plug coil packs clearly visible on top of the engine. The fuel injectors are down in the intake manifold area.
