    It’s such a shame the moas are all gone. There’s not a single species of them left alive today and they were around as recently as a few hundred years ago. Equally as tragic was the fact that their extinction also led to the extinction of the Haast’s Eagle which fed almost exclusively on the moas.

      We can't blame the condition at that time. The people needed food to survive, and they overhunted Moa for food... Besides, animal conservation program did not exist at that time...

    • @ericscott9029
      @ericscott9029 Год назад +8

      True, but scientists could try to bring them back. Typically if an animal has been extinct for so long, there is a point where they can't possibly be cloned, but considering there are Moa specimens from 500-600 years ago which is very very recent in terms of fossils, they would be easier to bring back than lets say the Wooly Mammoth.

      @arlaputra6363 Год назад +3

      @@ericscott9029 yes, but I think it will create another species, not exactly the same species. Because from what I read, scientist would do that to their relatives. So, the newborn baby would be the combination of two species. Am I right?

    Fun fact, kiwis are ratites, just like rhea, emu, and ostrich. Go and see the size of those birds, then look at the size of the kiwi. The kiwi lays a single egg that is only marginally smaller than an ostrich egg. That right there is unfair.

    If you're gonna do something like this by height, then the Giant Moa should be at the top. Both were more then capable of lifting their heads to 3.6 meters in height.
