*** Incorrect spelling for Verraz(Z)ano is still on most road signs in this video, two years after they passed the law.
They spelled it wrong (with one Z) at the time of construction, and kept this mistake for almost 60 years!
Finally in 2018 New York State passed the law to change the name (and all the signs, at a cost of $350K).
NYS and NYC had almost 60 years to correct the mistake for free -- the lifespan of road signs is 10-20 years, they are replaced every so often.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is a perfect example of GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY and wisdom of our elected leaders 😒

*** Speaking of names and bridges, Outerbridge is named after a person : Eugenius Harvey Outerbridge, the first chairman of the then-Port of New York Authority and a resident of Staten Island.
