- Since its arrival at the start of 2020, the MG HS has attracted a lot of interest from drivers, largely thanks to its low price and the impressive list of features that come as standard.
This recently revised HS looks quite a bit sleeker than before, courtesy of revised bi-function LED headlights, a bolder grille design and a re-styled front bumper. At the rear, a new bumper design, revised dual exhaust outlets and LED taillights complete the styling update, alongside a smarter 18-inch diamond cut wheel design.
As long as prices stay low, we think this smarter-looking MG HS will continue to be a very popular choice with UK customers.

Interior quality is very good and much better than its rivals. Ours has gone in for repair after an accident and we have been given a Peugeot 3008. The mg has more soft touch materials and feels way Breyer build quality. It’s not a top spec 300& but s out same price so far comparison
Ordered my MG HS 1.5 t-gdi Trophy dct in cosmic silver with the optional red/black interior with motability and should be collecting it at the end of september. Didn't notice the PHEV as an option on Motability's website 🤔 Anyhow another great review and i'm really looking forward to collecting my new car, all I can do for now is watch youtube videos lol. The PHEV isn't available yet, but the pre-facelift version was on the scheme so we expect it to be added soon

We have the HS shortlisted. We were thinking of going full EV with the Skoda Enyaq but as daughter could be moving all the way to Kent soon, an EV would be impractical as we'd probably need 2 or even 3 stops if we ever wanted to go and visit. A PHEV would be ideal but they tend to be expensive. We're not due to order a new car until December or January. Did think about going back to Ford as the dealer is just down the road from us but one of the driver aids I find invaluable, adaptive cruise control, in our Skoda Karoq is an expensive extra on the Focus Active and Kuga.

Why does the new MG HS TROPHY NOT HAVE PANORAMIC ROOF ? PLUS NOT GOT TROPHY BADGES ON GRILL AND DASHBOARD AND AT THE BACK ?
I currently drive a Kia, which as everyone knows is a very good brand Kia is and very reliable, but i like the MG HS and im not sure if im doing the right thing by changing brands, go from Kia to an MG, cant make my mind up?

Is the MG EHS reliable ? (turbo engine motors have pbs, no?)
I have ordered my HS Trophy Dct , with the red leather addition , its a great car an I found this review condescending , I will not have to explain what it is to my neighbours they can see the big MG badge on the grill , what I will explain is how it was £10000 less than the similar box they are driving.
How much is the red leather option? Can't find the price on their website.

Totally agree .....i think MG get a bit of a bad rap....yes they're in the more frugal end of the UK suv market but i honestly think a lot of car manufactures could learn a thing or two from mg when it comes to interior specs take the HS trophy ...heated leather adjustable electric seats ,heated folding door mirrors , reclining back seats ,adaptive cruise control ,soft touch material all over the cabin ,ambient lighting,Lane departure warning and a whole host of other on board tech then look at the Kia sportage se entry level model for instance its basically 5 seats and a steering wheel and that's your whack but it's around £2000 more than the top spec trophy ..I'll take the MG thanx
I’ve just had one as a rental for a few days. Looked good, doors felt solid, but think the quality is only superficial. The steering was terrible, the gearbox jerky, and couldn’t fathom the radio. Also, I really don’t want to buy anything Chinese given that nation’s record on human rights.

A bit strange. I bought a MG HS 2023 (built in Feb 2023) but it does not have the facelift. Do you think the infortaiment is the same as in the newer models? @@Jimgolze

just checked it. my hs is build in 2023 feb. its not the facelift thats why :) But my infortaiment system is the new one. Thats because the EU does only have the updated MG HS here.@@Jimgolze
if round town local and 30 mpg real world don't irritate you and your wallet then get a late 23 reg for 21-23 k , still 6 yrs warranty do 30-40 k miles over the ownership , then sell on , probably by then 4 yrs old and trading for 10 -12 k with a 25000 miles left or 3 yrs warranty remaining, so a buyer would feel more secure , sit comfortably high up cheap motoring OR go for broke buy a , some would say beautiful EV Porsche tycan for £120,000 and sell it on after 3 years at a 80,000 pound loss , i kid you not.

And.... Is absolutely trash!!!!!
The gear box and engine are rubbish plus the quality of the used materials screams cheap China..... I wish I never bothered with this overpriced junk.....

Why wouldn’t you test drive it before you buy. Amuses me!
Terrible car, awful ‘quality’ and lots of issues, creaking, terrible gear change, phev version has a dangerous switch between ev and petrol and the entire mg pilot assist system especially lka is beyond dangerous. Please don’t waste your hard earned money on any mg made vehicle, I’m sure one day they will get it right…they just haven’t yet.
You sound a bit salty. MG probably serves as a sore reminder that the British empire no longer exists and has been bought out by other nations, including the Chinese. That’s the real reason for your anti-MG sentiments.
