    As stated at the beginning of the video, you'd be better off watching the video on Majora first as it's a necessary platform to understand this one.

    I always just assumed that the Fierce Deity Mask, since every transformation mask in MM has a soul inside of it, (the Zora's mask being Mikau, the Goron's mask being Darmani, and the Deku mask being suggested to being the Deku Butler's son) and since the Fierce Deity mask only appears in Termina, it has the spirit of that world's version of the fallen Hero of Time, or whatever he'd be called there.
    This is supported due to that fact that everyone in Termina has a Hylian doppelganger, EXPECT for Link, and the Mask's close resemblance to him.
    -seriously its like every theory on this game seems to forget this game is in an alternate universe or something-

    • @wotizlove
      @wotizlove 5 лет назад +7

      its not an alternative universe tho just tons of characters are basically doppelgängers.
      Hope im not mistaken but other theories resolved around that too, pointing out how the 4 kings of the various tripes were all plagues by the 4 stages of death.

      I heard there was originally some explanation from the Happy MAsk Salesmen about Links doppleganger traveling to another world the same time he did, but playtesters found it too confusing so they left it out of the final script. But I dunno if that's true.

    • @quinnsinclair7028

      There’s also the fact that everyone in Termina DOESN’T have a counterpart. Kafei, mayor Dotour, most of the Zora band, the Goron elder and his son, the deku king and his court, Darmani, and Mikau and many more don’t have Hylian counterparts and Darunia, Naborou, Impa, Rauru, Saria and all the Kokiri don’t have Termanian counterparts. It’s possible Link is just one of a number who doesn’t have an opposite number in Termina.

      V1G4M1 No he doesn’t. The point of the doppelgängers in MM was to reuse assets from OoT. Daruni’s model is never reused in the game. The closest you could get to saying Daruni has a counterpart is Darmani but their models are starkly different beyond hair style.

    The answer is out there already. Who is the Fierce Deity? From an interview:
    "Whose soul is inside the Fierce Deity Mask?
    Aonuma: The best I can give you is just a suggestion. The best way to think about it is that the memories of all the people of Termina are inside of the Fierce Deity Mask."
    It's basically all the hopes of Termina's people to kill the Moon. Something like that.
    Google the interview if you don't believe me.

    I'm thinking with all of that time for Girahim to create a false perception of Link, perhaps Girahim created an image and version of Link so powerful, that it HAD to be too powerful for him to defeat, since it's all he can remember happening. Maybe after centuries of insanity and isolation, deep down, he WANTED Link to fully and finally end him, which is why Link's Oni form was so powerful. Girahim wanted a challenge and to win, though maybe to him, winning was being simply put out of his own misery. Insane people can only truly be defeated by themselves.

    • @TheRealRigma
      @TheRealRigma 6 лет назад +11

      IF the theory that Majora was Ghirahim can hold its own, then the Feirce Deity could simply be a hyperbolic depiction of what Majora (Ghirahim) perceived the Skyward Sword Link to be: a very overpowered hero that is unbeatable. The Fierce Deity's ranged slashes are similar to the Skyward Strike ability for example.
      In other words, the Feirce Deity mask is as strong as Majora, a powerful being, perceives it to be, therefor making it way more powerful than he himself is.

      Angry Falcon Shark but that unnamed hero is still Skyward Sword Link. Demise calls him that in a way that was as if he saw him for the first time. And Link travelled back to that time too. It’s a different type of time traveling than OoT, so he could’ve written his own history in that way

The only instance of time travel seen in the games that is different is in OoT when Zelda (who is the goddess Hylia in human form) sent Link back in time to create a new timeline, instead of a consistent time loop. heh, dunno... I personally don't think he looks like one: His hairs are more steel grey than the pure white we can see on sheikahs, and he doesn't have the usual dark skin tone showed in OoT...
      Plus the face paints and armor aren't quite sheikah-like (they use to have small white face paints and reinforced light armor, while the Fierce Deity has an outright heavy armor, moreso than adult Link)
      And finally, he doesn't seem to wear Sheikahn symbols (the breast plate represents a triforce piece, and seeing the character I'm inclined to think it _isn't_ for once the Courage one, rather the Strenght; and a crescent moon, which I'd associate with Gerudos... And the fact both may refer to Ganon may be coincidental x) )

      That is not completely out of nowhere, but I'm not sure these similarities are enough, after all the main tint in Girahim is red and Link's is green whereas Fier Deity's is different shades of... blue...
      Fierce Deity linked with Nayruor the Wisdom Triforce, maybe?
      OK that's a totally stupid and out of nowhere hypothesis, but what if... the Fierce Deity was the Hero of the Triforce? I mean, general appearence of Link, the Hero of Courage, and an outfit reminding of their different incarnations [let's remember, the protagonist is the character with the most consistent design thorough the series]; A color scheme of blues, linked to Nayru and the Triforce of Wisdom, plus the white hairs generally assimiled to old age and wisdom. And as per the Strength... Well he is quite more buffier than even Adult Link, wears an armor and wields a quite big sword, all of those characteristics generally found in Ganondorf through the series, plus some war marks for good mesure...
      I'm not saying it's flawless, I really wish I had more elements for the Wisdom part, but there may be something to dig (and while we're at it, what if the Tetraforce if it exists were some kind of combination of the three, huh?)

    I love the theory behind Majoras mask. I honestly haven't found any other theories that I genuinely could agree with. But I have a different theory about the fierce deity mask. If the Sheik really did create a mask based off a spirit that resided in Gannons sword (that we know was eventually to strong to control), it's entirely possible that the Sheik in turn created a mask from a spirit that they knew they could control, Fi. What if the sheik created a mask with power that the hero of time wielded in the master sword. Once Ghirahim possessed skull kid he may have returned to where his mask was being hidden by the Sheik, took the deity mask knowing that it was the only other being that could truly challenge him (or relate to his tortured existence as a being sealed away from it's master). This would also explain the masks appearance. Fi resembles her master in a lot of identifying features, although her ears are never shown. But being a spirit created to do the will of the goddess, it's not exactly a stretch that she would have pointed ears like the Hylians. This would also explain why Majora hands over the mask as a representation of the hero that once defeated and abandoned it. It's just a thought, but found it to be at the very least plausible if we are we working from the idea that Ghirahim is Majora.

      I buy the theory that the Fierce Deity Mask represents everything about the Hero. Much like how the Zora mask or the Goron mask, while made from individuals, don't exactly replicate that individual. Those masks represent the perfect version of each of those races and individuals. Someone like the Fierce Deity could never exist, yet when imbued with the raw unrefined concept of a hero, the mask becomes the perfect unreachable version of the hero: The Fierce Deity.
      Of course this would mean that at some point in the past, possibly a Link we've never even heard of was compressed into a mask via the song of healing or some other method we're unaware of.

The manga at the end of Hyrule Historia remains non canon.

    I really enjoyed and am convinced with your first theory about Majora's Mask, but I have a different theory for why the Fierce Deity Mask was made. Over the hundreds, maybe thousands of years being trapped, a part of Girahim wanted to be freed and made an ultimate mask to ensure that the reincarnation of Link, the hero of time, would defeat him, freeing him from the evil insanity that the mask trapped him in. I agree that Girahim based the mask on the Link from Skyward Sword, as both the Fierce Deity and Skyward Sword Link are taller, have swords that shoot beams, and Girahim has only seen this Link.

  • @Michael-dm7nx
    @Michael-dm7nx 4 года назад +1

    PART ONE:
    My theory is that termina's version of link/ fierce deity sealed majora would in the mask, but that alone wasn't enough. He turned himself into a mask to enter the mask realm (the realm all people or things turned into masks go to, I may have created this realm) and keep majora at bay, having a forever continuing battle in the mask realm. But if someone were to put on the fierce deity mask it would pull deity link out of the mask realm making it so majora could escape. So that would answer the question of why majora gave link the deity mask, he was hoping that restored to his full power he might be able to get his revenge on deity link for sealing him in the mask realm. As for how the happy mask salesman came to get it. Impa, the apprentice of deity link was told to hide the mask, she went to Hyrule (as in this video it says termina is an actual place, I agree) and hid it in the shadow temple. She established the Sheikah tribe to protect the secret of the mask... and eventually many many more secrets. With all this knowledge of secret stuff they became the highly advanced shiekah tribe. Now back to Mr. happy mask, kind of, part of the Sheikah tribe betrayed the rest, becoming the mysterious garo/yiga clan. This would make sense as the when entering the land the garo are in with the death mask, (or whatever it's called) they talk about a people who spied on hyrule. I think this was the garo/ evil sheikah. They could do this easily with gossip stones and other Sheikah instruments. Anyway, the garo (later to be called the yiga clan in breath of the wild) told the happy mask salesman about the mask, and it's whereabouts. He set up an innocent shop and after a couple months leaves after he had stolen the mask. This explains why he left Hyrule market so soon after he set it up. His mask was stolen by skull kid and he decided to follow link knowing he was a hero. He witnessed skull kid stealing links ocarina. He sees this as an opportunity to get link to get the mask back for him. The events of majora's mask pass. I also say Majora's lied when he said the fierce deity mask was of dark origin. He doesn't want you to have this power forever, he hopes you'll get rid of it if he is defeated again by it. Further, happy face lied when telling link all of majora's dark power is gone from the mask.
    MAJORA WILL RETURN!!!
    HA, HA, HA, HAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
    Now for PART TWO a.k.a.
    MAJORA'S MASK 2:
    Another reason Majora's gave link the deity mask is because it was a trap. In the mask was a special stone capable of splitting the timeline/ creating an alternate demension. Majora's could not activate this stone in his mask form. So he tricked link into activating it. Any way, when link wore the mask (thus giving Majora his full power as explained in part one) and destroyed majora, it created enough energy to activate the timeline stone. In that timeline created by the stone, Majora flees the scene instead of fighting because he has the memories of the alternate timeline because he was the reason it was activated, (the energy of his full power disintegrating into the air activated the stone) thus knowing he would be defeated. This is majora's intelligent and cunning backup plan. You find out he fled to Hyrule joining the armies if ganondorf who was in war with Hyrule while link was in termina which is proved in twilight princess. Link has to defeat both Majora and ganondorf.

    I like to think when Demise and Ghirahim first tried to wage war on Hylia and the world, Fierce Deity was there and helped to put Demise down for the first time.
    It just would add to it. Ghirahim lost to him, then SS Link, then lastly, when he sees the hero of time, the young kid, he would be humiliated beyond belief if he lost to a kid, so he wants the final battle to be with the godlike being who saved the world the first time (I think this but it's only my personal theory. the blue glow thing on Fierce Deity's sword REALLY isn't close to SS links sword glow... Maybe N64 couldn't render it further. And the way he holds the double helix sword REALLY shouldn't count as evidence, since it's a LARGE two handed sword, and the Goddess Blade/Master Sword is a small one handed blade)

    I'm not terribly qualified to theorize, having technically never played the game myself, but the theory that makes the most sense to me is that the Fierce Deity is simply... Link. Or rather, the idea of Link. The Hero of Courage, counterpart to the goddess Hylia and the demon god Demise. The epitome of a single hero that can stand against gods and monsters and overcome them through sheer guts and martial prowess.
    This ideal, this hope and memory is carried by all those Link has saved. When Link puts on the Fierce Deity mask, he is empowered by the admiration... dare I say the worship all those people give and have given to him in all his incarnations throughout time. He accepts it, accepting in the process the idea of being more than just a simple man. And in so doing, is no longer merely a courageous, fierce man... but a courageous, fierce deity.
    It is a common theme in many works that gods can be created where there are none, if people simply place enough faith in them. Heck, it's an actual thing in Shinto belief, which is deeply ingrained in the culture of Japan where the LoZ games were written. The Fierce Deity being "a deity based on Link," whom Link could potentially be empowered by (such as with the mask) and might one day retroactively become is perfectly in theme.

    Fierce deity has links hair style, body and face, while having The Sheikahs' hair color, face painting and clothing style/color.And if the theory about the sheikah turning ghirahim into the mask is true, he must resent the sheikah on equal terms as Link.

    I never understood why people use references from other games when this game takes place in a completely different universe. Eonuma stated (that's not even in the game, TBF) that the mask itself combines the power of every Terminan resident. My theory is that both THE Majora's Mask and Fierce Deity's Mask aren't masks of actual people, but power inside of them.
    I believe that what Eonuma said was true, and it's transforming Link because of the great power that it has, and "Majora" to me is the name of the tribe that created it, "THE Majora". And transformation masks don't have to come from a specific spirit of a person or even fully transforming them into a different person, i.e. the Giant's Mask and even Majora's Mask. Also on a side note it's weird how tribe-like Odowla looks...

    • @nicolasluna9256
      @nicolasluna9256 3 года назад

      it's true, in the original game even a gossip stone tells you that too and
      the mask is obtained after giving all other mask to Majora's moonchilds,
      and as we know the mask we obtain can keep or be incarnations of the emotions, as the Gorman crying mask, the gibdo mask, and the stone mask.
      so when Majora tells you that you don't have any mask, Majora actually makes it,using what it learned from the exagerated perception about link (and those are the emotions they claim, the perception they have about link) from all the people as base, but "demonized" because those mask filled with their thoughts about you where obtained after foiling some disasters caused by it too, the adult appearance comes from the emotions of the girl that gives you the cow mask aknowledging you as an adult, or maybe the manga where that dragon appears and die after raving non stop 3 days is a fairy tale in termina, and they think "that boy looks like the hero from the fairy tale"

    I mean, if you follow the Aonuma article, it gets a lot simpler. Maybe Majora or Ghiraham gets stronger from the suffering of others. That would explain the hexing rituals backstory and would explain why Ghiraham almost randomly became sentient inside the mask. And all Fierce Deity is is the manifestation of all the suffering the Mask has caused in the game and that’s why it’s imbued with dark power because it’s made by actual suffering. But that’s just a theory, a half baked theory! Thanks for reading

  • @jeremylewis96

    So hear me out here. Oni link, or Demon Link, was the original. A fierce force of nature, and growing ever powerful, his power had to be diluted. The goddesses themselves may have had to do this act, but I believe He was split in two. His dark interloper side, and the good from within. Both sides retaining some of his original immortality. The dark interloper wouldn't have to reincarnate because it could go back to the shadows. To keep the hero spirit humble and true, he would have to have the illusion of mortality, so he would die and be reincarnated whenever and wherever he was needed next.

    There's one little problem with your theory; if Majora really WAS Girahim, and the Fierce Deity really WAS his twisted image of Link, which he wanted to die fighting, he'd give the Fierce Deity Mask to Link REGARDLESS of whether or not Link got all the other masks in the game. This was still an interesting video though.
    PS: Congrats on getting that part of Ganondorf's Wind Waker speech right; whenever I watched videos in which other people read that speech, the speaker always said frigid PALE, even though the subtitles said frigid GALE; but YOU got it RIGHT. Nice job.

    The Fierce Deity mask represents his fury, and will to hurt and destroy. Have you ever been angry with someone and wanted to punch them? I was more thinking that the fierce deity mask was created by Ghiarahim as a means to kill himself if he went too far. It's a bit loose given both personas being evil but maybe it could be the case. It would also explain majoras pure and child like appearance when he gives link the mask. Like maybe that's the one good part of him left or something. Idk just an idea.

  • @Flemmli1
    @Flemmli1 7 лет назад +1

    Guess this works with your theory, but do feel like leaving a comment again(Sorry if I sound too harsh by the way):
    It is again my interpretation, but I would say the fierce deity is more a Termina equivilant to Link, like Majora is to Demise/Ganon/Ganondorf. Something that might have had its own physical form to safe Termina from when Majora first rose to power and the goddess of time(Equivilant to Zelda and Hylia) noticed and send her own chosen hero or made them. Granted, the oni is a good point, though one can also look into buddhism and what a fierce deity is there, as for maybe not taking Majora's word for granted. A being without morality driven by someone elses inner demons and issues would see an enemy as something far worse than it might actually be. And in buddhism for what I heard(Might be incorrect), fierce deities lead people to enlightenment. So who's to say the deity didn't stood up to Majora before, maybe died in the progress and like the other transformation masks was turned into one?
    Again, its just my take and I sure might be wrong big time, but just wanted to share this little bit.

    Well obviously hes the legendary hero, the one sometime before skyward sword. Meaning he didnt have the master sword because it wasn't made yet. In Japan the oni is not just some evil being but a demi god (hence the name deity. He is an incarnation of the God of justice that once freed majora of his immortality. I'm inclined to believe that majoras mask was made before skyward sword due to this. It was one demigod vs another. By that time majoras mask was made and hidden by the sheika.

  • @aqwial8098

    Hey here is a thought that expands on your theory Razanak. Now we don't really know where Termina is. Could it be the crack in the ground that released Demise back to the world? Or is it another realm, like the Twilight Realm, that was created to hold prisioners, or was it a parallel realm that always existed since Hyrule's creations. So the thought is this ok. As far as we know it both the lost woods and the Great Deku Tree didn't exist in skyward Sword. So what if after Link and Zelda went back to the future, Ghiriham showed his face again and like u said Impa faced him and used the song of healing to turn him into a mask. However she didn't stop there. Being a Shiekah and thus servant of Hylia she knew about the parallel world of Termina so without anyone knowing, she got help from the Great Fairy Queen to open a rift to Termina and went there and left the mask in the empty region that would later become stone Tower and then returned to Hyrule. Then to make sure to hide the existence of Termina and keep anyone from finding it or bringing it back the Great Fairy Queen and Impa give life to the lost woods to guard the doorway to Termina and the Great Deku Tree to watch over and Guard the Lost Woods. However unfortunately for Impa the mask was found by a dark tribe that used it in their heking rituals those giving it more power and transforming Ghiraham to Majora and giving the mask back its awareness but not all its memories. Now as to Fierce Deity Mask. What if that mask holds the Spirit of Hero Link also from SS. So 100 years later after Impa seals Ghiraham's body into the Majora's Mask, Link shows up. He gets stronger, has a kid, and explores the world of the surface. Eventually he comes upon the Great Deku Tree and The Lost woods. The GDT tries to warn him of the curse but he disregards it and is affected by it. Eventually he stumbles upon the entrance to Termina and travels there. However while there he begins to sucomes to the curse and begins to transform his mind warping with each minute that goes by. However just before his body transforms somebody who knows the song of healing, plays it and transforms him into the mask thus saving him. That is why the mask has the description of having terrible power rivaling Major's. Then the fierce deity mask passes thru time in Termina until the Skull Kid, mind controlled by Majora's Mask, finds it and keeps it by its side. Till Link shows up and stirs Majora's memories causing it to remember its days as Ghiraham. With its memories restored, he seeks a final fight with Link and after he loses he is satisfied at last and finally feels free thus his spirit and magic leave the mask for good, his soul finally at peace.

    What if the fierce deity IS Link. Kind of like the Avatar spirit/Avatar State in Last Air Bender. There are different Links, but maybe the soul is the same. Originally the Avatar was supposed to be the spirit of the earth incarnate, that lived human lives over and over and could draw on the power of past lives. Perhaps the diff versions of Link are the Hero of Time spirit reincarnated, and the Fierce Deity is the "Avatar State" for Link?

    I would add to all that the fact that Fierce Diety Link looks very much like a Sheikah... and it would still fit the theory that Majora's Mask was made by the Sheikah. If Majora wanted to fight the extreme personification of all his enemies wouldn't an adult version of Link combined with the power of the Sheikah be the ultimate enemy of Ghirahim? Also wasn't Ghirahim dressed in a white tunic with silver hair and armor? Wouldn't there also be a good probability that after locked away and seething in his own hatred also contain some self hatred? Wouldn't Ghirahim's ultimate nemesis be a combination of everythin, he hates? Skyward Sword Link that destroyed his master, the Sheikah that imprisoned him, and including himself for his own weakness and failure or maybe a memory of his old self that is so different than what he is now that he despises it?

    Maybe Majora fought another hero (another link) years ago that was/looked like the Fierce Diety mask, possibly an alternate time line or ancestor of the link we know now. And after fighting him, and years of self reflection, channeled that dark energy into a mask.

      Fierce Deity isn't all that old. He pops into existence when Link proves to be a Bodhisattva.

    It actually blows my mind.... because the discs from the helix blade look just like the skyward strikes.

    I think it's the person you stated a person that made majors mask when he granted him his wish maybe he made a mask to stop majora just incase things got out of hand or majora ticked him with his power locking him into them mask like we seen with the other three masks

    I can't believe how some people act over this... Good lord. Anyway! Love your theory, it's the most convincing yet! You've clearly done your research. You've earned a subscriber.
    The only thing I'd say (from the other video) is that I wouldn't discount the Twili's involvement based on the rounded design of MM. Remember, Majora's Mask comes from [before] they became the Twili, so the more blocky styles found in the Twilight Realm are god knows how many centuries later. Art styles change! Just a thought.
    I also have a hunch that the Twili were once a sect of the Sheikah. My theory is that way before the events of Skyward Sword they disagreed with each other about the use of certain types of shadow magic, which lead to a major schism. The sect that embraced the dark magic were later banished to the Twilight Realm (and may even be responsible for Demise), while the rest of the Sheikah were forced to spread thin and remain in the shadows to quell any desire to use that magic again.

      The Zelda fanbase is nothing if not passionate, so it's bound to happen. Anyway, that's a valid point. I suppose it doesn't really work to switch between in-universe and meta reasons for something the way I did in the first part, but I would also argue that I really doubt the Twili changed anything between then and now. Considering how few there are and what little space they have, I can't imagine them disassembling giant castles like that. Even the Twilight Realm was originally much larger and parts broke off, it seems to me like that would make them value the old architecture and styles much more; in real life, small communities are much more apt to holding on to traditions.
      As for the Twili being Sheikah, it could work. That would probably be a theory in itself, though.

    If the Sheikah were indeed the ones who transformed Ghirahim into the mask, then perhaps the Fierce Deity could be an amalgamation of his hatred for both Link and the Sheikah. The Fierce Deity has white hair and white clothes, two features that weren’t apart of the Skyward Sword Link, but were most likely a significant aspect of the Sheikah. The Impa from Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time both have white hair, and combined with the white colors on Sheik and Impa’s outfits from Ocarina of Time, white is clearly shown to be a sigficant color for the Sheikah, so this could have been carried over to the Fierce Deity. The red eyes of the Sheikah may have also inspired the red coloring around the eyes of the Fierce Deity.

      The Fierce Deity is a form of Link. Just as actual Fierce Deities are foms of Devas and Bodhisattvas.

    In german the fierce deity is called „grimmige gottheit“ what means „angry goddess“.
