He definitely trained a lot lol. I think it’s impossible to run a sub 20min 5k without training. Some talented people can bust out 22-24min for 5k with actually zero training, but anything faster than that at raw is not possible…

I guess zero training since he got injured altrough we all know no one gets 17:47 min 5k with real 0 training like never going to runs in your life or doing other forms of exercise
He used to run D1 cross country and track. So 17.47 for him is out of shape. But I agree he’s definitely exaggerating the zero training. I think he just means he hasn’t trained specifically for a 5k race in a long time
He had training, but was injured at a track workout. What he means is that after an injury he hasn't trained in months. This guy is an insane runner and props to you, I know even with experience I couldn't run that time. Good job on coming back from a tough injury man.
That’s how everybody takes splits for a 5k. Treat the miles like thirds of a race. Your kilometer times don’t tell you much because it’s not a long enough distance to keep track of how well you’re actually pacing yourself. Plus, most people start off running miles, then up it to 2 miles, then to 5k, so mile pacing is easier to deal with than kilometers.
I used to run in high school. I recently started running again going on a run or two a week. My 5k time is like 35 minutes. Dude says he didn’t train and ran twice as fast. Interesting.
He was a pro runner and ran in college. He has since parted ways with sponsors and does other shit now idk but yeah. I guess he hasn’t ran in a while, I used to watch channel 24/7
zero training means he's on a marathon training cycle (totally different adaptations) or it's off-season. after a full and specific training cycle, he's probably capable of sub 16. Training and exercising are two different things.
