  • Yo, I'm back with the first full length video for this channel. Sweet!
One of the things that stressed me out before becoming a photographer in Korea was what it would be like on set. Super intense? Tons of directions I wouldn't understand? It's turned out that nearly every fashion shoot I've worked on has been pretty relaxed. You're working with a team and you're all in it together.
I made this BTS video to give you a sense of how a fashion shoot might work in Seoul. There's a little set up, a few unexpected changes, but in all it's normally a fun and totally manageable experience.

Yo Niel, flip man thank you so much for saying so! It’s super encouraging to hear that. I’m finding my feet with it, but it’s been so cool to work on videos for myself. Definitely a creative push. Will try to keep them coming!

Ah dude so stoked you dug it! Trying to make something natural is a little strange, because you have to make so many choices on what to show. But if you were into it that's a good sign! Miss you too brother!

Thats sweet, I liked the details you included of the setting up for light and backdrop and shoot straight to laptop, taking the final product to the next level.

Questions! How fluent are you in Korean? why did u decide to do Freelance as opposed to working for a company? where did u learn most of what you know, from school or jobs? would u recommend attending graduate school for photography or no? is it difficult to find freelance jobs in south korea?

Hi~ Check out my POV vids for a sense of my Korean level, but I'm fairly conversational. Upper intermediate maybe? I chose to freelance because I want full control over how I spend my time. I learnt most of my photography from just doing it, I didn't attend school for it. I also relied on the advice of friends and more advanced photographers and I assisted on shoots when I could. I'm sure graduate school would be helpful but you need to decide if it lines up with your goals. Finding freelance jobs is hardest in the beginning, but it gets easier. You don't need many to earn decently, you just need to nurture the ones you have~
