Making Small Photo Prints
There's one more reason to make small prints, and it's close to my heart. If you've ever doubted what you're doing, seeing your work printed will grant a little faith in yourself and your images. There's something about seeing them real and tangible (even if they're small) that makes them seem more worthy of the attention you hope they'll be paid. Printing's been edifying and encouraging for me, and I'm sure it will be for you too.

What Camera When
Просмотров 3 тыс.3 месяца назад
Yo! I like cameras, but I like photographs more. In this vid I pick apart which cameras I use and when, so I can arrive at the photographs I care for. I don't think anyone needs 4 cameras to shoot a good photo. But knowing what kind of image you want to make, and the conditions in which you'll be making it, seems to me the important thing to consider when figuring out the right camera for you. ...
Photo Book Review No. 3 // Triple Seven - Anne Lass
Просмотров 5183 месяца назад
Yo! Today we're taking a look at the wonderful book Triple Seven by Danish German photographer Anne Lass. She does an outstanding job of depicting the other-worldliness of Berlin's disappearing gambling halls by focusing on their strange geometry and lush colours. I really recommend trying to pick up a copy here: www.annelass.com/triplesevenpublication It's worth taking a look at her other work...
Photographing Namgajwa - A Disappearing District
Просмотров 8944 месяца назад
Yo! I'm beginning to think I have the click of death. The first POV video I made was in an area called Euljiro. Most of what I photographed there is gone now. Then during the filming of this video, I found out (in real time) that this place is slated for redevelopment. I don't think redevelopment is a bad thing, but it's sad to see Seoul's scruffily beautiful neighbourhoods and their communitie...

Damas Diaries #2 - Muju
Просмотров 3579 месяцев назад
Face to Face cranking on my one working speaker, cold denim keeping me warm and making me cool, and not-one-but TWO cameras slung at the ready, it's time for another SK photo roadtrip! This time my trusty Damas takes me well south to the mountains of Muju, and the loop of road circling some idyllic lake-country. For this mission I shot film with my Nikon F6 and digital with my Ricoh GR3. I hadn...

Yo! So I know I've been slow with uploading vids this year, but for good reason. I got married to @KelBelter and we opened a studio! Hong Kong Street Photography - 35mm POV
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
Yo! For this one I hopped an all-VLT-expenses paid trip to Hong Kong where I wore brown clothes, ripped the mic and reeled in some top-notch investments (all true). I also shot street photos! I had a day and like 9 rolls of film which I'd carried in my little backpack along with my audio recorder and low-brimmed cap and I filmed some "street-style photography" for everyone to see. I'm sorry it ...
How to Work in Korea (As a Photographer)

Acting! Visual metaphors! All this and more in my latest video on the ins and outs of visas and workplaces in South Korea. For this one I hope to provide a bit of intel on just what it takes to work in Korea (as a photographer) and how you can do it too. It took me a long time to figure it out myself, so hopefully this can expedite your efforts. Thank you to all the friends I called on for help...
Silent Film - One Roll of 35mm in Mullae

Yo! For a challenge I decided to shoot POV street photography in Seoul's factory neighbourhood of Mullae. The kicker? I set a limit of 36 shots! With just one roll of film and minimal gear I headed into the manliest part of the city, only to have my own manhood enter the discussion. I had a lot of fun with this one on a beautiful Fall day, I hope you enjoy it! You can see the results of this ph...

Sunnies on, windows down, Millencolin on the stereo; everything's just right to go road trippin'! For this one I head south in my little half loaf slinging a Nikon F6 and four rolls of Kodak Ultramax. Seoul Street Photography POV - Daerim

Amazing work, the way you interact and talk with people before photographing them really makes a difference. I can't imagine getting access to personal locations like this. I'm planning a visit to Korea later this year but don't speak the language, do you think most people in public spaces would speak out against having their photo taken? I'm used to being discreet if I can get away with it but also want to avoid stepping out of line with the culture if possible

I’m curious to know what you do with all those pictures. I saw that you have a wall covered with them but I’ve been having trouble deciding where to put mine. Do you have any suggestions for storage or how to display them? I keep them in a journal but in the end the journal ends up falling apart from the amount of pictures I put in them, specially because I use hahnemuhle photo rag 308 paper.

    • @chrisdacanha
      @chrisdacanha Месяц назад

I'm keeping my prints stacked up for now. I use them when making pairs for the project I'm working on, and I like handing the stack to anyone interested who visits the studio. I'll likely slip some of them into the booklets I'm making when I start selling those as a little extra:-) For storage I recommend just a dry, dark space. I put some silica gel packets in my cabinet to deal with the humidity. For display, I'd sooner choose just a few of them and have them decently framed with a bigger mat. There's something special about a small print in a quality frame.
