War admiral, man o wars son, sea Bisquit, grand son of man o war. Man o war was a great stud and great race horse. Secretariat was the fastest horse that ever ran on the planet. Man o war , Secretariat ,love them both. And many more.
Linda, never heard of Zenyatta ,thanks gonna look that one up. If you want something different, get on RUclips and look up Huaso , a horse that jumped higher than the ceiling in the average home in 1947.
What a joy to get the opportunity to have an intimate look at the life and connections of the legendary Seabiscuit. I am awestruck and starstruck by all of it. Great job!
What a lovely tour around the stables the old guy was very clued up on the history of the horses especially sea biscuit I love horses there a magnificent Animal and they have been so helpful over the years from Racing to the WWI and the little pit pony down the mines, just magnificent creatures.
The book was such a great story, all the stars had handicaps, Seabuscuit himself imperfect all come together. I also read the author herself had health issues preventing her from seeing the opening night for the movie.
@Paul Gallagher I will check it out. My friend has pony with no great pedigree, and despite a odds he has won national titles in show jumping. Breyer collectable horses picked him in 2018. He bucks between jumps and I've heard trainers of nice expensive horses joking how they are getting beat by a bucking spotted pony. EZ to spot, all heart like Seabiscuit and his people.
Howard, Pollard, Smith and 'The Biscuit' were a great convergence. Seabiscuit just needed a steady, patient and knowledgeable hand. Pollard was dedicated and loyal. Howard had faith and the will to back it up, Tom Smith was known to some as ' The Lone Plainsman' ; one of a kind and even more rare these days. He was thoroughly knowledgeable of all the mental, social and physical aspects of horses. To bad the 'little biscuits' lost out because of WW2.
Racehorses were my heroes growing up. I was rewarded w a treasure trove of books from 30s, 40s that were beautifully illustrated that were in my grammar school library and I caught "the bug". "Come on Seabiscuit" b y Ralph Moody was a favorite of mine although I didn't think the Biscuit's knees were all that knobby! 😇
Lovely horse and movie, plus story. I didn't realize it actually happened that long ago. Probably wasn't paying any attention. I ride so I understand what it takes, sort of?
My old TB also had the large heart gene, and larger lungs. His heart weighed nearly 20 pounds. He was 34 years old when he died in 2007 from impaction colic.
I hav book and movie. While at 2014 Breeders Cup with friends went the Wolf’s restaurant The Derby. Saw Wolf’s de play of his saddle and other items of his.
In the time of "CORONAVIRUS WORLD WAR - 3" in 2020 when your own life is at the hands of a invisible pandemic it's cinema and music that breaks all barriers and provides solace and entertainment in the confines of your home.Have been binge watching all sorts or documentaries of different genres and topics with the sport of "Horse racing" being one of my favourites. The Mahalaxmi racecourse in Mumbai is cycling distance from my house .Have been a fan of horse racing in India since the age 19 years and later a punter for over 25 years finally quitting betting and becoming a armchair voyeur of the sport.Have seen the movie "SEABISCUIT" but still have to read the book written by Laura .Hillenbrand.. A excellent documentary with explaining the horse's amazing career and fame. Bizarrely "Seabiscuit" and later "SECRETARIAT" had large hearts and also died young.
Only real reason made a movie of seabiscuit captured eyes of Hollywood but as a stud he never dud well with his offspring from all that his pedigree fail just as Humpty Dumpty did flat bettors horse secretariat was to ruffian could have beaten secretariat another bettors horse . In sure his owner trainers had Bo idea getting themselves onto buying him as a racer .
Sarah Hearn-vonFoerster I love Ruffian. She was the horse that got me interested in horse racing. Lucien Laurin was famously quoted, after one of Ruffians races, as saying "As God is my judge, she may be even better than Secretariat". She was a miracle...gone much too soon for absolutely no reason.
Why must there always be some magical intangible "spirit" invoked when it comes to champion racehorses? Why must we always hear about them "wanting to win" and other silly anthropomorphic attributes impossible for a horse to actually display? Couldn't it just be that the horse was a product of successful selective breeding, strong heritage, hard work, training expertise, money and above all luck? Why do we need to build fairytales around these animals? It's more impressive when it's shown for what it really is instead of being all mystical about it.
I have the book and movie. Seabiscuit was the first horse I fell in love with. Man O’ War, Secretariat and Zenyatta are all my favorites.

Awesome. Let’s focus on the good stuff!!
Willits please keep up the good work. Even downunder the whole story of Seabiscuit is respected...

The author captured the times, the horses great ability to win.
I loved the Movie! Didn’t know about this awesome horse before then!

That's so funny, that was the first book I read, Come On Seabiscuit.
Then I checked out Big Red; The Story of Man O' War.

Channing, thanks for the update. I just found this video & wondered how the restoration was going.

Cool I live in the area ❤
The Galloping Hat Rack!! ❤️❤️❤️

That sure is a ripe old age for a TB.

Secretariat died not from heart problems but developed laminitis & was put down.
Appologies, I got horses mixed up. Actually, some of Seabiscuit' s progeny did ok. No they don't match his success, but they made money.
Nice Rick,is Tom Smith in the HOF?
All horses are lovely. The speed they can run at has pretty little importance.
Awesome
George at Santa Anita race track his stature at paddock area as his in center of paddock.
Seabiscuit was a " dwarf" for a racehorse.
It's not the size of the horse in the race, but the size of the race in the horse.
He be little but he be fierce!
Não entendi nada + com assisti o filme linda história
WHERE ARE ALL THE FOALS ? WHAT HAPPEN TO ALL 7 OF THEM ? FRIST CROP . THAT BE FUNNY T3O READ OR HEAR .

Yes Book is much better

You need to spend a little more time researching and listening to what is said in this little documentary.
@@kmaassociates7999 I completely agree
Ruffian was a wonder horse too, but her tragic accident was devastating to all of true horse lovers.
Seabiscuit was a gelding idiot... He never had progeny
