DeSoto will be D2 for a long time, It goes by enrollment. DeSoto is one of the smallest 6A schools in the state. For example Duncanville has around 3,500 kids. DeSoto has around 2200.
Texas needs to fix its playoff system. To unfair. These truely local teams have no chance against these open enrollment schools like Desoto. Need to go to a system like Ohio and California where teams are seded and placed in a 32 team bracket. Not the garbage they have now. Texas is a joke with the amount of undefeated teams they have. That's because they rarely play good teams. These 50 to 0, 60 to 0, and 70 to 0 scores are a joke. Texas good teams don't play anyone decent until the 4th round of the playoffs.
It seems that way only for the top of the top teams. Not every hs is getting blown out like this in the first round. Plus, Desoto is a state champ so it’s not surprising
