George Coleman is on my all time favourite version of My Funny Valentine 1964 Miles Davis Quintet at the opening of Lincoln Centre just before they picked up Shorter. Miles sounds like some kind of prowling animal Herbie sounds like Bill Evans on acid and Tony Williams sounds like the future but Coleman ties it together with extremely intelligent subtle swinging solidity. It's actually pretty psychedelic the unconventional treatment of the Ballads on that Album.
From miles in europe to this. Amazing. George, Joe, Wayne, all masters. What a treat!....and Kenny! We are so fortunate to have them here. Thank you so much for posting. Simply beautiful!!
Great!! .....Never heard these two masters together, they are perfect fit. I recognized Cameron Brown on bass, but who is the drummer? Wish there was more, thank you!
Kenny Barron has aged like fine wine, and so has his playing!
Thank you Gentlemen 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
George Coleman, tenor saxophonist and bandleader :: born in Memphis in 1935, age 80 in 2015, still alive......
Great!
Listen to Coleman's technique at 70. Wow!
