Good solo from very underrated tenor master Sal Nistico, who is unfortunately no longer with us.Great saxophone player as George Coleman he is generous in giving solo space to other guys in a band. And of course, Billy Higgins is such a joy, I´ll never recover from his loss..
this is the stuff I was raised on Trying to get my tenor chops together now at 80 years of age never to late I started alto at 25yrs flute and saprano at50 and 60 yrs soooooooo. never to late!!!! having big fun...
I was lucky enough to see George Coleman Quartet with Harold Mabern, David Williams and Billy Higgins in NYC. The club was called Fat Tuesday. I think it was around 1991.
Absolutely fantastic! I'd been playing this song (piano) from a fake book for months without having heard any version. I came to browse through some found in youtube and this one blew me away!
This is beautiful.

This is a marvel. Frank Foster's composition is still unbelievable.
They say jazz I'd dead. I don't think so, best bass player on this video. Clint Houston.
Thanks - I'll put it on the posting

Awesome!
Re: Ulf Nordin: Pianist Harold Mabern was born in1936 in Memphis.... so by my reckoning he must be 79 years of age.
'Simone' is one of my favorite standards.
Elvin Jones album" Coalition" Blue Note 4361
Coleman & Frank Foster play Simone
This is JAZZ!
No!! 73 and very strong soloist. very unsung as a major player.
@lucienneislief MINE TOO!!
Billy Higgins is not a jazz drummer.
In what universe? These are ALL jazz musicians of the highest level.
