    This year, both the Gel-Nimbus 26 and Gel-Kayano 31 are similar to ever before ! Both are more stable, more nimble, more grippy, more breathable and a bit more responsive/versatile . Great job Asics !

      If they are so similar... whats the point?
      Is it that the kayano ist basically the same shoe as the Nimbus, but just with stability for or against pronation?

    • @MiracleWarriors
      @MiracleWarriors 4 месяца назад +2

      @philipppuchner1115 The Gel-Nimbus 26 should still be more cushioning than the Gel-Kayano 31. The Kayano can be used by anyone, but it is preferred for those that overpronate. I liked the idea of the upper being almost the same in both shoes because the upper in the Gel-Kayano used to be a bit less breathable, ticker, heavier, and less stretching. Now, both shoes can be used without any major problems during the summer.
      I love both shoes and last year I did not the the Gel-Kayano 30 to cônico it with the Gel-Nimbus 25, but this year I might get the Gel-Kayano 31 later this year as a replacement of my Gel-Nimbus 26. I'm using a lot my Nimbus and by September or will need a replacement.
      But if you don't overpronate much, the Gel-Nimbus is the way to go. It is very stable and the 26 is quite more guided and stable them the #25 ( this was more comfortable and softer).

      @@MiracleWarriors Hi there, thanks for the answer :)
      Sadly. there is not really much more information than i already knew (from many many reviews or a bit of personal experience).
      For me, 35, 90kg, 1,80m, sporty/athletic, but a few kg more than neccessaryrunning very inconsistant, always used a GT2000 (gt2110, gt2000 6, gelfujitrabuco goretex for trails, gt2000 9... ALL EU 46), am now way more motivated to running :)
      I got a Novablast 4 TR - EU 46, ran it on a trail with quite heightmeters and about 11km, a week later i ran the wings for life app run with it.
      After the long run, my medial arches were really sore, which i NEVER experienced before!
      I thought, that must be because of those soft shoes (Novablast 4 TR - EU 46) because i always wore a GT2000. I also got to know that every foot pronates a little bit when the shin bone comes in front of the shoe, so that is perfectly natural. So, I may be wanting to have a mild pronation stability shoe for long runs, when the feet get tired and tend to collapse a little more inwards.
      ( Due to the fantastic reviews, I got a one time ran Noosa Tri 15 - EU 46)
      I did a run analysis (which functions with inlays under the real inlay in the shoe, so like pressure plates) with the GT2000 12 - EU 46 and the Cumulus 26 - EU 46 and it turned out, that my feet are perfectly neutral! :)
      Within the Cumulus 26 i feld like i was slipping inside the shoe. I struggle to find socks that are not so slippery, because the arfiticial material which is supposed to get sweat away is also slippery. Cotton socks would soak themselves.
      (Now after owning the Nimbus 26 in EU 45 and also the Superblast in EU 45, I'am thinking about trying also the Cumulus 26 in EU 45, so, half size smaller (there is no EU 45,5 due to rounding errors every 2 sizes from a US or UK size). Maybe that half size bigger is a explanation for the slippage? Or this in combination with the socks?
      Ah, and the GT2000 12... there are so many superb reviews out there, best stability shoe ever blablabla, also from people who said, yeah, GT2000 10 + 11 are just boring and nothing new.
      The shoes are hard as bricks! Yeah, they should soften up a little bit, but just a little bit. I mean, i have 90kg, even when I cannot bend the shoes... there is NO transition from heel to toe, there is just the shoe clapping and smashing the forefoot into the ground. I even tried running on my forefoot: nope. There is a very very tiny sweet spot when you land perfectly on your mid foot, where the shoe gets silent and it feels good, but that sweet spot is TINY.
      Luckily i could return the shoes and upgraded to the new Nimbus 26. Also that shoes slabs a little onto the groudn and is loud, but maybe due to the wide plattform.
      Anyway, I ordered and have now at home: GT2000 10 + 11 - EU 46. 10 feels like v9 which i have, 11 is wider and harder and does not have such a smooth roll from heel to toe out of the box as the v10.
      But, it is WAY better than the way too hard v12!
      I now have to decide which GT2000 to keep, the v10 or the v11 + search other shoes who might fit the bill for a mild stability shoe, other than GT2000 and not as soft as Nimbus 26.
      So, a stripped down Nimbus or Kayano, therefore, their latest iteration, Nimbus Lite 3 or Kayano Lite 3 are on my radar.
      Or maybe something completely different? Brooks Ghost?
      I have no idea.
      But the Kayano as a "stability" shoe, where you don't recognize the stability, unless you need or use it (the walls in the shoe which should guide your foot), sounds good. And a version with less stack, but different than the GT2000 v10 or v11 would be a great alternative!
      Or, if the Kayano 30/31 is firmer than the Nimbus 26, then even the high stacked models.
      And THAT is my question: How "hard" are Kayano 30/31 compared to NImbus 26 really?

    Great video! I have the nimbus 25 and I want to upgrade to the nimbus 26 or kayano 31. I'm torn between these two. I weigh 87kg and run an average of 5km every day. Price for a comfortable sneaker, with good cushioning on your step, as if you were floating. I'm not sure which of the two is more comfortable, is there much of a difference?

    Planning to buy running shoes, which is the best among these ones.
    Nike Pegasus 41
    New Balance Fuel Cell Rebel V4
    Asics Novablast 4

      Three great shoes. We haven't had the possibility to try the Peg 41 yet, but if it is anything like the Peg 40 it will be a good versatile shoe.
      The Rebel v4 is softer and very light, and the Novablast 4 should be softer and more plush while still having a very nice rockered shape.

    How different in terms of feel and softness of the ride are the Kayano 30 + 31 compared to the Nimbus 26?
    I have the N26 and after my initial joy, it felt too soft for my 90kg because it killed my calves after just a 5-6k run and I felt my feet even 2 days after that.
    Maybe because I'm not used to run in such soft shoes or because I as a heel striker was trying to run forefoot or at least mid foot.
    No I don't know what to do with my 200€ Nimbus 26. It was supposed to help me run slower, since i struggle with that completely.
    I also have the Novablast 4 TR, a brand new Superblast and a Hoka Speedgoat 5 for road to trail.
    I'm trying GT2000 10 + 11 since the 12 is hard as a brick and unrunable!
    Maybe the little less stacked version of Nimbus and Kayano are better? Nimbus Lite 3 and Kayano Lite 3?
    If the Kayano 30+31 afte stiffer than Nimbus 26 but not much stiffer than Superblast, then I maybe try to get them to try them on.
    Little higher arch in the K31 sounds good at least.

      @RunningXpert  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey @philipppuchner1115
      We consider the Kayano 30/31 very similar to the Nimbus 25/26 in feel underfoot, but just a tiny bit stiffer, firmer, and with a pronounced arch. Not much though, so don't expect a world of difference. How the Kayano feels compared to the superblast is something we can't help with, as we've not had the chance to try it out yet.

    I have got problems with my knee aches. So can you advice me some running shoes?
    Gel Kayano-31?
    Nike Pegasus 41?
    Nike Invincible-3
    Gel Nimbus-26 or any another shoes?

    • @RunningXpert
      @RunningXpert  23 дня назад +1

      First and foremost. Running related injuries usually have more to do with over trainer than what shoes you are wearing. I would try to manage your load and reduce the amount of stress you put on your body. And then I would find the type of shoe that you find awesome to run in.
      Kayano 31 is cushioned and stable.
      Pegasus 41 is versatile and lighter, a firmer than the three others.
      Invincible 3 has a lit of energy return and is semi soft.
      Nimbus 26 is softer and more comfortable, but doesn't have as much energy return.
      So what shoe you choose depends more on what you would like to feel while running. Does that make sense? If your knees keep hurting, talk to a physiotherapist.

      Yes, as far as we know, but Emil didn't try last years Kayano while he was testing the Kayano 31, so we don't have a lot of data to go on. So we would like other runners input as well on this. Please comment down below!

    Thanks for the awesome video content. I prefer traditional stability running shoes due to over pronation (Medial post etc..) Kayano 29 was my favorite shoe for this but the Kayanos have changed a lot.
    In the current market which is the closest shoe to the Kayano 29? (NB 860 V12, Gt 2000 12 perhaps?)

    • @RunningXpert
      @RunningXpert  4 месяца назад +1

      860 and the GT series are some great options. If you want a very traditional stability shoe there is also the option to look at the Horizon from Mizuno, or the Arahi or Gaviota from Hoka, or the Structure from Nike.
      The Brooks adrenaline GTS is also a shoe that many like.
      Hope this helps :D

    Currently have the saucony tempest as my daily and race day ( 2 seperate pairs). Could the 31 be used as a half marathon race day? Unfortunately I need a stability shoe so I know the options are limited

    • @RunningXpert
      @RunningXpert  4 месяца назад

      Hey.
      That depends on what you want from a half marathon. If you want speed, then you probably shouldn't get a Kayano 31. If you want comfort, then Kayano 31 is the way to go.
      Now if you want speed you should probably try to find something lighter. The Tempus is maybe the best option here if you are not looking at more stable marathon shoes. I would use the Tempus for faster runs, and then get a daily trainer that focuses more on comfort for the everyday miles.
      Is there a certain reason why you are not using neutral shoes, apart from overload injuries?

    How does the Kayano 30/31 compare to the Saucony Glide 16/17?

      Hey.
      If we are only talking about how stiff a shoe is, then I would say the Guide 16 is the most stable, followed by the Guide 17. Kayano 30 and 31 is so similar that I don't really know if there is a difference in stability.

      You can always use them in the gym, they will work like a charm on the treadmill but I'm not sure I would advise you to lift in them. This is mostly because you waste cushioning by loading a running shoe when doing squats or heavy lifting.
