This set is phenomenal! It's a great parts pack for the rubber pins, shocks, and tracks. I'm also glad that the truck side has space for cargo. A recommendation I have for your control interface is utilizing the hub's gyroscope to reverse the controls when needed.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have thought about that but the powered up app interface is not very convenient for larger programs, especially on a tiny smartphone, so I never bothered to do that
I really like this set. As a kid I had a 4 wheel offroad RC car that was invertible, just trashing it around while it flipped up and down was hilarious and great fun. I wonder if in playtesting they found with all the bumping that the battery cover would fall off, maybe they added the screws for that? In any case I'm glad I have the old ones, the ability to quickly turn a hub off is very useful, especially if you forget to turn the bt off your smart device off and it just stays connected with the app in the background. It's also now way easier to just let the batteries sit in the hub because effort, before you know it you forget about them and they start leaking throughout. A lot of my old 9v stuff is damaged and i had to take apart and clean because of leaking ni-cd batteries, nimh's are a lot less corrosive but it's still an issue. Even if TLG would come out with a li-ion or li-po battery pack, either they replace the entire panel with a charging port or it's going to be a real hassle, could possibly be dangerous if one starts to inflate while it's in a hub. 5:15 There are some sensors (accelerometer, gyro) in the hub, i'm quite certain that the official app will flip the controls automatically if it goes upside down. in the mean time: add a switch instead and use the code blocks to let it go from -1 to +1, then simply multiply the input stick value by this value and you will have inverted controls that flip with just a single tap instead of having to add different sticks and switch between them manually.
Loved hearing your perspective! I tried programming a button in the powered up app but I didn’t know how to change the motor port. When it’s flipped not only the direction is flipped but also the right slider becomes responsible for the left track
@@Unbrickme About the port: Version A) You don't have to, if you modify the input values and not the port. Version B) Take a look at the white hub+port selector-block. It shows integers as output if you change the port/hub. So it should be possible to use ints as port- input.
I love the blue colour scheme because it looks sporty and it has the blinking bright lights coming from the Bluetooth hub that is simply just so cool. The orange colour scheme is still nice but loses the sports feel. Overall both of the colour scheme are equally lovely because they actually complement each other. Love Lego technics.
Honestly I wasn't planning to get this set but seeing all those new pieces, gears, and the function made me love this set btw I really like the detailed build and I hope you always do a build on every review

And i like that blue side moře but i like to Put something on The orange side. HIGHLY RECOMMENDING THIS SET FOR TECHNIC LOVERS OR RC TOYS LOVERS👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the early review with the detailed building process. I think it's a missed opportunity to introduce 14 and 18 tooth gears instead of another 12/20 pair, but it makes sense, since the double bevel gears have less contact pattern than normal spur gears and would get quickly damaged. I also hate the new battery box design, but one screw would not have hold the weight of 6 batteries on such a model, especially while riding down the stairs like you did.
Another con: That odd Control+. Lego should get rid of it and stop forcing the customers (childs) to spent even time on a cell phone when playing with Lego. Besides you can trash it when Lego stops supporting your phone/tablet or that models specific app version...
Small question with important aspect : can you do a comparison of the old and new hub? Maybe they also improved the elec inside it and is now more power efficient or allow better speed or torque or faster movement after using the control profile? ( A little like the IR receiver V2 allowed more current, so that stacking motors on one output won't make them stall... )
this become really (too) easy with those one piece big connectors, at the time, you had to use many perpendicular cross connector and many blue and red pins to connect everything, we had to be real clever
I bought a ton of rubber pins to increase the traction on the treads of my Fangpyre Wrecking Crane set, and it makes a huge difference. I also need them for Axl's Rolling Arsenal.

I like colour blue. But which side of the vehicle I would prefer is the orange exploration vehicle, simply because I like research exploration vehicles in Lego technic. 7:52
The new hub now has a durability issue with these screws, they are self tapping screws in plastic. This will put a lifespan on the hub, since these holes will wear out with repeated use. I really hope the next version will have metal inserts and machine screws.
Big thumbs up for rough playing outside :D Little thumbs down for not using the gyro-sensor for flip-detection instead of another pair of sliders in PU ;-)
Im noticing when it flips from the blue side, the spoilers were the first that contacted the ground not the small wheels, surely after playing a while (even indoors) the technic panel would get scratches on the edges right?
