Great info! The "new" takeover muffler is suppose to be Black Widow venom 250's 3 inch.., or the 2 1/2 inch. If you love the sound of flowsmasters, you'll love the black widow, less drone though they say. I'll just say this... you mention all the name brand parts, especially on a street car, and then you get some good ported stock stuff, and blow the doors off of the high dollar parts. I personally have beat a trick flow cars(foxbody) ,BBK equal length headers, Borla exhaust and gears. My car was ALL bone stock parts that came on the car from the factory but very heavily ported. I had $500 in my engine.. the other dude had $3200 in his and couldn't out run a stock parts car.! FACTS not read on the internet. Both cars were convertibles, he was automatic with a 2800 stall, I was 5 speed.
Can you do a comparison between the Flowmaster and a straight though style Stainless Cherry Bomb Salute? I chose the very affordable 2.5" Salutes for my PI swapped '99 Townie.
Yes 300cfm per side. Once the motor reaches the efficient hp flow limits of the flowmaster mufflers everything after that hp wise will progressively add more back pressure and reduce power output. It's been proven many times before.
Sheesh. Bought some super flow 44s months back and been waiting for after my state inspection to get them put on, but not sure if I really want them now. Thanks for the info.
They really don't flow well at all. 365cfm is extremely low for a performance muffler that cost as much as they do and is not stainless steel. As rpm and hp rise the amount of restriction goes up with these flowmasters. There are better mufflers that sound just as good but flow much better.
Also I think it's funny that a lot of folks will push the "back pressure is needed" myth, yet a ported head with matching headers and free flowing exhaust that promotes velocity and scavenging gets better dyno numbers.....Even Engine Masters busted that too!!!, 1st and 2nd season I believe...
@@brucechamberlain9890 we will flow them again and post the video. When we flowed the various flowmaster mufflers years ago we recorded low flow on pretty much all the ones we flowed. This time we will post videos on the results
Been telling people that for years. They don't want to believe me. I tell them to put them on a flow bench then and find out! Are yours built similar to a sonic turbo? Thanks for the great videos.
Smart people can understand the simple science of air and exhaust flow affect on power production. David Vizard and the LS community has been saying the same thing about the flowmaster chambered mufflers for years. Reduced exhaust flow that causes back pressure on a motor will reduce efficiency/hp. Its already been proven many times on the dyno and track!
@@hotrodray6802 Magnaflow, max flow or Pypes Race Pros. Great sound not crazy loud. We are trying to tell customers about those flowmasters but they just won't listen lol
They flow just as bad. Baffles and sharp angles directly in the path of flow. With out mufflers you have to run them for a while or wet them to speed up the sound break in process. We have a video comparing a flowmaster 40 series to a straight through muffler we sell and they sound damn near identical on the vehicles.
The same. They flow like crap and when you start making over 280-290whp they start to become a restriction. The more power you make the bigger the restriction
My 5.0 project car came with those Flowmaster 2.5" mufflers in a full cat back. The pipes and bends look great but I had a feeling the Flowmasters aren't really "masters" of flow. I wish Dynomax still made those VT mufflers, or figured out whatever reliability problem they had.
I've been waiting to see this one ....
Straight through for the win always..
yessir... cant wait to purchase my bigdog kit for my fox!

Great tests, do more if you can
You want more muffler tests and flow comparisons?
that's a big difference!

That is true. Anyone that says back pressure is needed on a engine will not be taken seriously by us
The race flowmasters flow around 634 cfm and I’m talking about the 2 and 3 chamber race flows not the 1 chambers. You might check them out.
We will flow those as well. Sound wise the are basically as loud as open pipe and not really and option for most plus they are not stainless steel.
@@bigdogsportingtonyb2833 actually 40 series race flows are stainless and the 30 series are mild steel but are quieter than the 40 series.

I always thought the flowmeters were holding me back , that is a large difference in flow ....
Huge difference. Over 300cfm per side!! That kind of restriction would hurt hp even on a mild combo with factory E7 heads!!
Been telling people that for years. They don't want to believe me. I tell them to put them on a flow bench then and find out! Are yours built similar to a sonic turbo? Thanks for the great videos.
The mufflers we currently sell are not currently built by us but they are a straight through design. We will be posting exhaust clips soon
@@bigdogsportingtonyb2833 cool thanks
Awesome mufflers! I got flows 😫
After a certain hp they are costing you hp
Have you ever flow tested the Borla pro xs muffler?
Yes they flow well but not as well as straight through box type mufflers
They don't call them choke masters for nothing
@@Smuckatelli you are correct lol. It still amazes us on how many foxbody Mustang guys swear by them.
I'll stick with the dyno test on Muffler performance

What about spintech mufflers
We will test them for you because customers have been asking about those as well.
Im tired of LOUD.
Wish that I could find a mild sound for my 90.
Im thinking David Vizard's Dynomax Super Turbos.
Ah ya, DV invented them.
I teplaced glasspacks with FM 40 on a moderate 440 Mopar and it instantly killed 40 hp 😱
