Jme is a grime artist, which is completely different to modern UK rap, it's a dying genre and some people like you need to get over it, there's nothing wrong with listening to it, but don't disrespect the newer rappers, the UK rap scene is changing which is a good thing because it is evolving and improving
@ryaniguess2746people were saying this about pop until the mid 90s, then it went all bubblegum and commercial and became crap. So yes, evolve, but not too much
@Lazone5 not really, the big name grime artists have all moved on and are seeing success in other rap genres e.g Stormzy, AJ Tracey. Whilst the grime genre still has some loyal fans, it's steady decline since 2018 has lead to it being overlooked by the younger generations. Nowadays, the 'big three' genres of UK hip-hop are; rap (artists like Dave, aitch, arrdee), drill (artists like digga d, headie one, bandokay) and and afrobeats (also known as afrotech) (artists like Russ millions, tion wayne, burna boy)
@@gdot123They really don't. My American friends thought it was some recent "drill spin off" (their own words btw) and there's a comment on this same short calling it drill
@@gdot123 they dont. even US drill and UK drill sound too disimilair to them... US drill doesnt have the 808 sounds UK Drill does and were composed a tad differently to how we would use them. It took a fair few years for the UK 808 sound to cross over to the US (our ones slide more and are used melodically not just to 'fill the sound') If they cant even recognize one of their own sub genres, how can you sit there and say 'they know the difference between grime and drill' You can go even deeper and throw Road Rap into the mix, which VERY early UK drill pulled a lot of influence from until groups like 67 came thru making THOSE 808 sounds. I've barely mentioned Grime itself here because to them its all the same thing. If you was to play Grime, UK drill, then Road Rap to a yank... they'd be very very confused.
JME hit with serious when i was about 11-12. His impact to the youth was huge and one of the first to really get fame from the bluetooth/Sony Ericsson era
@tXm_hiphop Yeah it really is, guy started bum sucking drake and abandoned the grime scene to go do garage and drill beats. I wish the old grimeheads stuck with it cuz it could've seriously took off and would've been a much better sound to be putting out to the world than the murder anthems getting released these days.
