Mate this was an epic trip and a credit to you. Well done and thanks for taking the time to put it all together. You wont be losing my subscription while I wait for your next trip.
Really enjoyed this Solo series Cam! Bought back a few memories when you went through the McDonalds. About three years ago I hiked the Larapinta Trail and stopped at a couple of your camp sites.
I really liked the series, and your love of the wildlife. How cool was that thorny devil! I agree about the park at Uluru. We camped there last year probaby about the same time as you were on your trip and it was the worst place I've ever camped. Lucky Uluru made up for it. You missed a trick not walking the lap around the bottom of the rock. That's an awesome walk.
damn cam that roast! had to comment as soon as i seen it made my mouth water brother! you should be proud of this series its your best work mate. simple as that
really enjoyed watching your trip - learned a bit about 4X4 driving - and will probably visit those places once i feel brave enough - you obviously planned this really well
great trip mate.. was interested in the great central road.. but I guess you missed your girls by then and cant say I blame ya for heading home in a hurry.. heard good things about the travel buddy so looks like thats on the list.. great trip thanks for taking the extra time documenting this..
I was a little bit shocked at your average fuel 15 l per 100 I have one of the older D-Max and tow a 2 1/2 tonne full size van and I average about 15 to 16 l per hundred, love your series thumbs up🤙
Yeah but his has been tuned and it's putting out quite more power than standard dmax is what I would say the fuel use is. I have a done up prado and use about 14 to 15lt per 100 compared to stock 9lt
@@LVNITUPM8 I've got a 3 inch exhaust on my D-Max and DP chip, my fuel average just in general running around is about 9. 5 when towing a van 15 and 16.
Thanks mate! Yeah I'm not too surprised with the economy really - bigger tyres, poor aerodynamics, a tonne of payload and a tune with more aggressive fueling dont help. Also, a third of the trip was in either Low or High range with lower tyre pressures. And im sitting on 110 - 130 (NT) for most of it. My normal economy is around 11.5l/100, or 15ish towing 2t camper.
Cheers Steve. We've watched your 'big Lap' DVD at least half a dozen times! You and Jen were an inspiration for us to give it a crack. If you fancy a beer around a campfire when we're in your neck of the woods, let me know!
Should have done kings canyon rim walk and the rock mate its wroth it and not that hard coming back down. Also there to camp sites 5k and 10k away from the rock. Good video mate i enjoy watching them
Great series mate. Found it very informative too. We're doing a lap next year as well from Easter and planning on heading across the Great Central to Uluru and then North and leaving the Kimberley for a separate trip (we're based in Bunbury). Got an MU-X and MDC forward fold and our boy will be 2.
Probably cross paths at some point mate! Good on ya for doing it with a little one, won't be always easy, but will be such an unforgettable adventure hey.
Make sure be careful and stay safe to watch storms in the Red Centre in the Australia’s Northern Territory. Lightning storms brings gusty winds and heavy rain and hearing the clap of thunder after the lightning. Watch it safe in Yulara by the resort town or Ayers Rock campground and the wind cools off and the rain cools down after the extreme heat of the desert.
Hi Cam have enjoyed your RUclips uploads I have watched them out of sequence but I was wondering if you had more footage of the Great Central Road. It is a trip that I would like to do. My wife and I were going to do it a few years ago when we went to the Alice for the Ulysses conference. We spent 2 weeks touring the area on motor bikes and the plan was to return via the Great Central Road . But we chickened out , it rain while we were there and we spoke to a few travellers that had come through the road towing caravans and all said the road was in poor condition and we would be stupid to risk it towing a car trailer transporting our motorcycle . Doing the Great Central road is still on the bucket list and we are planning to go May 2022
Thanks Matt, my wife and I are doing a similar trip, only starting from Ballarat, We have kings spotties fitted to our Ranger, so will see if they fall to bits also!! PS, what model drone do you use??
Only recently found your channel, very enjoyable content presented in a relaxed style...no hype like the over commercialised channels. One comment though on climbing Uluru, I think the best reason for not climbing is out of respect for the indigenous people for whom the rock is sacred.
Great stuff as usual Cam. How are the Evakool fridges holding up? Having any dramas with them? Haven't had the chance to really test mine yet. I'm a bit worried about the bottom falling out of the plastic tubs on prolonged severe corrugations. Do you think that could ever be a potential problem? I'm considering a small sheet of thin plywood to add a bit of strength.
Thanks mate. I get where you're coming from, when you fill them full of cans the centre bows a fair bit. But I had 50 cans in the fridge (which would weigh a bit!) and was bouncing over a couple of thousand kms with no dramas whatsoever. The bottom of the fridge was covered in black aluminium dust from the cans rubbing though haha.
Cheers Blake. Bought it on eBay, but Snowys sell It now too end they're free delivery. www.snowys.com.au/stainless-steel-bbq-310-firepit?AcceptsCookies=yes

The extra effort is noticeable. I loved the red centre series, excellent work. Do you have a list of the camps you used along the way?
Thanks mate, if you flick my FB page a msg I can send you a screen shot of the list on the wikicamps app.
Onya mate, watched the lot. Go the 4jj1.

Four wheel drives have got.............. Bugger!
Great work mate, watched the whole series and nicely done. Is it necessary to take a second spare tyre traveling Great Central Road?
Thanks mate!
I would recommend taking a second spare. Especially if youre not running newish AT or MT tyres.
