The conclusion is if you want better quality life with decent pay you choose UK, if you want the money with no life work balance u choose the US.

Hi I'm coming from the Caribbean and both the US and UK make way more than we do here . I know US is more but tbh the UK offers a better work life balance. And eventhough you may not make as much as in the US you still make a decent salary. I'm also black and concerned about the greater racism issue in the US ( yes I know there is racism in the UK as well) the gun violence in the US and for my future family they will have to pay more for education and Healthcare in the US. I would go to the US if I cared only about money but I don't. The UK Healthcare system isn't the best in the world but it's certainly not the worst to me. Also many people praise the US but you may end up working in some far away high crime city and be overworked forever. What are you going to do with that money if you can't enjoy life? ( that's a worse case scenario)

Currently the UL operates a "hostile environment" for immigrants, so whether and for how long you can work there depends very much on your citizenship and, if you are not a UK citizen, on your level of qualifications, income and whether your proposed field of work is officially listed as having a shortage of workers. That list changes every few months.
Before Covid many non-citizen doctors were due to be deported, but they were given rolling reprieves for a few months at a time.

@@PranayBrajabashi can vary, and in most cases for the uk, that’s only estimates of salaried base pay. Some do locum, additional hours (which is compulsory for more junior doctors), weekend pay, and ownership/partnership of a practice.
Not to mention consultants can also run private clinics alongside being a salaried NHS worker

But money isn’t everything. You will work too much in america. I am an American born and I am moving to europe for a better work life balance and so I can have a life to spend with family. I don’t feel happy as a medical doctor in US even if the pay is superior I can’t work that long. Also doctors don’t get paid vacations or any sick leave. You’re espected to work even when you are sick. You also get no paternity or maternity leave. Also healthcare is free in europe in most countries and so are universities like in Scandinavia. The environment is much safer too and healthier. There is no life in the US. The food is also healthier in europe it’s not processed Like in america Tahts why Americans have shorter life spans than Europeans. There is also no malpractice insurance costs and you aren’t risked getting sued like in America. You also have to understand that there are more expenses in general in the Us such as utility costs and other costs such as car insurance mortgage etc. so a European doctor’s salary is more than enough to live a high quality life happy life. I know surgeons in america work 100+ hours. Public transport is excellent and cheaper in europe and sometimes you don’t even need a car if you don’t need for work. America has horrible public transport. There are so many more benefits una europe and I am an American saying this. I am moving soon. America is too large and I prefer to live in a smaller country where I can feel safe and get to places faster.
