    toner can be any color, like laser printers come in B&W which we might have at home, I used to have a color laser printer but the toners (4 of them) were too expensive to be fun. the toner is a micro plastic that melts the color doesn't matter, I love the sparkle, I might do some combination printing, if I can figure out the new printer or laser and stamping . not sure I will send out many cards this year

      There is definitely a learning curve to Hot Foil, mostly it comes down to cardstock, do you have a different one you could try? Did you know that Yupo works really well (but is expensive) but there are also some great afordible options such as Crafty Critta or Hammermill. Also be sure to run your design through your die cutting machine slowly. Also make sure you are not using the Gemini Foil for Papercraft as it needs a lower heat. Hope this helps. I would have liked to buy the Glimmer machine but it wasn't easy to source in Australia (different power etc) and then this one came back into stock so I thought I would try it. It seems very similar to the Glimmer from what I can tell, though I do like the hinge on the lid. Sending hugs your way x

    Do you have to buy special dies for the hotfoil machines? Or can you just use the dies you already have?
    I'm interested in buying a hotfoil machines but I'm not wanting to buy more dies!

    • @lostinpaper
      @lostinpaper  Год назад

      That was the reason why I didn't buy my machine for a few years (yes, they have been around for quite a while now). But yes, you do need special dies and different Foil too! You can use the dies you have but they will only leave a fine outline which would have been the cutting line, which can look fabulous, but then you can't use them to cut the image out as they are exactly the same size. There is much less of an investment in Toner foiling, so you could start with that if you haven't already, to see if it's something that you actually like the look of first. You can achieve a lot of similar results to what I used today using, toner foils, metallic cardstock and heat embossing. Hope this is helpful, I have other videos on foiling at my channel, but I would also recommend checking out 'Nancy Stamps' who is the Queen of all things foiling, what she doesn't know about foiling isnt' worth knowing. Hugs Tx

    Beautiful cards, but i wonder, for the "waste" foil, you use a toner sheet on your solid Hot platte, or do i see that wrong? As you used hot foil, that has adhesive in it, you only have to use paper, no need for those colored toner sheet, or am i missing something...? As you obviously are an amazing crafter and super handy with your foiling machine.....

      You are correct, you can use plain cardstock and add colour after by blending it or try other coloured cardstocks too. But I have found that Hot Foil doesn't play nicely on all cardstocks and I do know that it works really well on the coloured toner sheets so typically I have more consistent and better results. Hope this makes sense, but you are absolutely right! Thanks so much for your lovely visit here today Tx

      We have the same problem with postage from the US and UK to here. I recently tried to buy something and it was going to cost $71 AUD for postage alone... I didn't buy it lol.

    You should slowly peel up the foil paper and if it's not done properly just reheat and rerun it for better results. Hate seeing waste 🥲

      I hate waste too, I did run the purple one through twice and that was after the second pass with more shims and heat, I think the damage was done lol. I will have to practice a little more with the Go Press n Foil, I found the Foilpress easier, except for the big warp in the middle of my hot plate which doesn't excite me haha. I have also tried the hinge method with tape and that has worked for me too, maybe I should have tried that? Thanks so much for your fabulous tips Jen!

      @@lostinpaper lol I'm just going based off what I've seen other crafters do. Haven't had the opportunity to buy a hot foiling machine as yet 😅
