- In our last episode of our P&O Iona Cruise Vlog Series we celebrate Paul's Birthday and give our verdict on whether we would cruise again on Britains biggest and newest cruise ship!

We was on iona for 2 weeks around the canaries. We unfortunately had one of the mini conservatory suites which I hated!! I found the food in the buffet terrible(see my buffet video) loved the speciality restaurants! Loved Anderson, ship is gorgeous and loved Anderson.
Not sure we would like one of those conservatory mini suites either. Interesting about the buffet too. We loved Andersons and the speciality restaurants, particularly liked that you could pay per dish!
Hi you guys love videos ... .. Been cruising since 1989..royal Caribbean out of Miami !! Wow that to me was the cruise experience one will never forget ..have experienced 45 cruises on several lines p&o ..Cunard, regent, crystal and my absolute favourite silversea !!! We are doing crystal April 2022 Greek isles & holyland ...& Silversea new ship silver dawn Nov 22 ..have you ever been on crystal/silversea ?? If not you must try !!! It's another level !!!👔🍾... Loved this series, and thanks to your vlogs you have convinced my wife Linda and i to take a Fjord cruise on Iona in August ( our first ever cruise). I do have one ( possibly very dumb ) question to ask. Where do your suitcases go once you are on board ? I guess there is space under the bed, so would you recommend taking 2 small/medium size cases per person rather than 1 large one each ?
Oh that's great to hear! We always take one large and one medium case and never has any issues of them fitting under the bed or in the wardrobe. Hope you have a fabulous cruise!
Congrats to Paul for both his birthday and the big casino winnings, lucky guy for sure. The rooms on the promenade deck would definitely not be for me, terrible design in my opinion. Love the birthday chocolate bar from Jamie and Matthew, that's my kind of present. I have enjoyed all your Iona vlogs and happy that your disembarkation went well. Superb blog loved the series. Just one thing...would love to know what your final drinks and dining bill was..I'm sure it would help cruisers plan financially and give a good indication of extra costs..We are NCL addicts and one reason is the very low costs at the end of the cruise. I would love to know what P & O charges are like...thanks again guys.

That's great to hear! CPS are not cheap but very convenient. We have used them a lot. Also good to know that they will change dates too which we have had to do recently.
Hi Paul & Carole, really enjoy your vlog's so insight to traveling on a cruise ship & haven't thought of travelling on one before until i started watching your vlog's & as spark my interest as i've booked for the first time on a cruise ship the Iona round the Norwegian fjords in September so i'm a cruise ship virgin...if i may ask a question what's the etiquette for tipping ? if necessary at all...keep up the great work thank you..
That's great to hear! We always try and book a fare with tips included are they included in your cruise fare? If not you will be charged daily, which you can ask to be removed if you want. We tend to give extra cash tips to those that have looked after us especially well such as the cabin steward.

A bit late in the day but just wanted say, great vlogs of your cruise. Great insight of whats on offer. I would say that , if I had a balcony room on the Promenade deck and travelling with my sister and nephew, who is 6 years old, I feel it would be safer, rather than a balcony with a drop..
Agree those balcony cabins are ideal for families. Glad you enjoyed the series! 😀

Sure a lot has changed since then but enjoying being at sea and the fabulous sunsets will always be there whatever time has passed!

Went on iona end of october and embarkation took 1hr 10m from arriving at the terminal having the test to getting on the ship

Hi Calum, thanks for watching them! We booked when we got on board. We are going back on Iona on Monday and can't access the app yet. If that changes I will let you know. Just have a plan of where you want to eat and which date and time so you are ready to book when you can. 😀

Was on this ship in November, and it was the most boring ship I’ve ever been on, nothing to do on sea days, I love quizzes but the only one was in Brodie’s and I don’t like those kind of bars Lovely ship but not for us Hey ho we are all different and we all don’t like the same things but not for us Glad you guys enjoyed your trip

After viewing (and really enjoying all you Vlogs} could you tell us what your favourite cruise company is?
So hard to answer that as they all offer something different.....today if we had to choose one it would be Cunard...but they could change next week!
If you were to stick with just the restaurants included, would there be enough choices?
We loved the Quays and you do have the MDR. However don't think so. The other restaurants are not that expensive as can pay by dish!
Hi both, do you stay on board all the time? I've watched lots of your trips and they are so informative about what's going on on board the ships. Do you feel this is safer? We are due on the Iona in March, booked 2019 and altered twice, we are triple vaccinated but are still a bit worried about covid and really worried about being put into foreign quarantine .
Is it safer just to stay on board enjoying all the ship has to offer?

On our last two cruises we have got off in ports and felt safe. Even if you stay on board for the entire cruise you would still have to do the mandatory tests. It is a difficult one at the moment. We postponed our cruise, should be back on Iona again now, due to the mandatory testing and quarantine in Spain, we thought it wise to postpone. P&O currently are being very flexible about bookings.

This ship is the same class as Carnival's new Mardis Gras. Not for me. I think you were lucky to sail when you did and had the same experience I did around that time of reduced capacity which made everything so much nicer. I'm am not a fan at all of the mega ships. Bigger lines (queues), poorer service and just not the experience I was hoping for. That said, I'm still salty about Carnival..I'm 110% done with them.
Yes it was definitely a plus cruising at reduced capacity!
