- Stefan and I planned to fish Witsand, unfortunately the sea was unfishable when we got there. We quickly formulated a new plan and decided to travel up the river and cross the Breede river at Malgas and head to Infanta. we have never fished there before so this was total new grounds for us. We have heard about some great fishing there. It ended up to be a great day and we enjoyed ourselves with the sharks!

Daai hele stuk tot by die punt is goeie haai water. Geelstert kom ook daar uit. Van die punt af kry jy jou leke eet vis. Galjoen, kraker, steenbras, kolhol, stompies, yellowbelly's al daai goed. Goeie video weereens!!
damn the beginning must have been rough but its always great to have a backup plan or improvise to a more possible plan haha even though ur mate was forced to drop the camera at 13:11 he got a good shot of the reel screaming like hell haha but it was pretty cool how all of you 3 had hook ups.

you mentioned hound sharks and what we call in Aus gummy sharks, there are a couple differences, a common hound shark or soupfin shark is what we call a school shark (Galeorhinus galeu) these have teeth a gummy shark(called gummy shark because the lack of sharp teeth) (Mustelus antarcticus) is a type of smoothhound shark and i dont believe they are found in South Africa although some of there close reletives are the common smoothhound (mustelus mustelus) and white spotted smoothhound shark (Mustelus palumbes) since ive never caught these two sharks as im from Australia im not sure on there teeth situation.
the other shark in this vid that we have a different name for is your grey shark (assuming its a ridgeback grey shark?) (Carcharhinus obscurus), we have them here in Aus and we call them Dusky whalers or dusky sharks, people often confuse them with Bronze whalers and aren't aware that they are different.
The hound shark I got was a smooth hound shark and has no sharp teeth, we also catch the white spotted hound shark.
You are 100% correct on the dusky/ grey shark. We also call the Dusky sharks or grey sharks and people here often do confuse them too but the ridge on the back is a distinct difference 🤙🏻

Hello guys greetings from Sydney Australia, love to know the brand rods and the line that you are using for the sharks please , looking for something that can handle the big ones here but theres a lot of expensive but fragile things that dont stand up to the punishment , about the gummy shark they are really tasty fish , matter of fact a lot of us would keep one for fried fish and chips instead of a snapper etc , thanks for sharing the video

Whats the best steel fore to use when catching sharks?
Jdb carbon coated or fishmate carbon coated wire. Depending ons the targetet specie ranging from 80lb to 200lb. Generally for big bronzies and ragged tooth sharks I prefer the 175lb🤙🏻
