    The color still pokes through when I’m working on the right side. What could I be doing wrong?

    • @CozyNooksDesigns
      @CozyNooksDesigns  Год назад +14

      It could be bc you’re not rolling the non-dominant color towards the wrong side. So if it is showing on the right side, that may mean that when you’re crocheting on the wrong side, you may not be rolling the color you’re carrying towards you. Does that make sense? You want it to be hidden on the wrong side. It also may mean you need to go down a hook or two in size. ❤️

    I have never done tapestry crochet before even though I have crocheted and knit for 50(!) years. So I almost cried when my very bright orange yarn was SO visible being carried with the white yarn. But then I found YOUR post - and I am smiling again!

    I was thinking about doing some tapestry crochet but not really sure now. It appears that it is a big deal when there are huge contrasts in color. The type of yarn used and how tight the stitches would seemingly play a role as well. Even though this is an interesting fix for one-sided items like purses, it does seem like a pain in the rear.

    I basically floated the yarn that was not in use for my knitting when I knitted sweaters [and sort of tried to do the same thing with crochet]. But I do prefer to crochet HDC for stitches that have more than one color [or straightforward back-and-forth crochet]. I just am not particularly impressed with how sc crochet stitches turn out when they are not in the round. Thank you for your interesting and informative video. I am looking into pixel crochet and Mozaic crochet.

      @@CozyNooksDesigns Thank you very much! And thank you for sharing your epiphany with us. It helped me remember how I used it with knitting. Knitting is certanly easier to weave the yarn/s that are not in use and I have been wanting to find a way to do the same thing using crochet. Plastic canvas is also an interesting craft and cross stitch charts can be used for charts to do more than that particular craft. The charts can be used for crochet patterns as well- especially as in [pixel crochet] projects. Thank you for sharing.

      @@rosy111 fair isle crochet uses larger floats on the wrong side. You float the yarn 3 or 4 stitches at a time, whereas this way does it every stitch so it bends around the small gap in each stitch.

    It's definitely helped, but my yarn is still showing through! I'm using DK yarn with a 5mm hook so don't know if that's bad but I need it for the size of my crochet. Have been trying to keep everything taut.

    • @CozyNooksDesigns

      A 5 mm is a bit loose for tapestry crochet. Typically tapestry crochet uses a smaller hook, but that does make it hard when you need the drape of a bigger hook.

    • @CozyNooksDesigns
      @CozyNooksDesigns  16 дней назад +1

      I'd recommend only floating 1 stitch at a time, but you can do more than one. If you do float more than one stitch at a time, make sure the yarn isn't too tight or it will cinch your fabric.
