Bismuth is an element bearing number 83 on the periodic table of elements. It's widely believed to be a transitional metal and bismuth is WONDERFUL. It has a tremendous amount of industrial applications due to it's stability, low melting point, low conductivity, and low toxicity. You can also grow really cool crystals from it. So let's talk about why you don't see natural bismuth crystals very many places, and how people make the crystals you do see.

Check the description of the video for more ways to support the channel! This video will be going into why you don't see natural bismuth crystals very often, how they are lab grown, and finally the uses for bismuth! I hope you enjoy!

I have a few pieces of bismuth. So colorful and very heavy. Thanks for the lesson!

The best gift I received for Christmas this year was a very handsome Bismuth crystal. Lab grown, but I thought natural crystals *didn't* exist, so I'm still not arsed. Though I am now better educated!

They do! They just look very very different and are usually quite small :D

Thank you, James! I am utterly fascinated by the fact that bismuth like this is grown in labs, and can be done at home BY VERY CAREFUL PEOPLE. It's absolutely wild how each part of the structure grows and develops its color. Funny how nature and man and then nature have to work together to make something so beautiful.
    Thanks again! Love the education!

WOW! If we had grown bismuth crystals in Chemistry class in high school I would definitely have taken an interest! GORGEOUS! ❤

Nice rundown on Bismuth. Yes I watched that Nile Red video.

Didn’t know this but still love my little piece because it’s so PURTY! I watched someone do it with the chewable pepto. The amount of pieces he used was insane 😂

My knowledge of bismuth has pretty much always been limited to the stuff that comes in the form of a pink liquid. 😂

I have found native bismuth in a copper gold deposit near native copper and chalcocite it was interesting but didn’t look much like the artificial ones

You could somewhat see growing them as an art form.

TIL that trying to watch a MFM video while also trying to help a neighbor assemble her floor lamp is a lesson in futility. You know what that means? This sucker is about to get twice the bang for its buck outta me! 😂
