I like that the cl class was limited, they will be collectors items later. And they will generate a cult following, same reason I will hold on to my Ford Excursion.
The CL line is last of the classic Mercedes coupes . The new Mercedes S coupe does not hold the classic lines of earlier generations . I don’t like driving cars that everybody has. My CL63 and my Aston Vanquish that I had previously are the true Gentleman’s GT. These CL were built in the best Mercedes factory in the system. The CL will one day soon be a very very sought after classic. It always happens that way,, on the used market, people don’t want them , too expensive to repair and cheap to buy then one day they realize the extremely low production numbers , the quality of the build and few good original examples are avail and prices start to climb. Right now the late model face lift CL63s with low mileage going for more that the first years of the new S coupe . It’s started
They did it for heritage because in the 80's it was the 560sec which was the S- coupe back in the day an the four door was the 560sel they also offered the 500sec as well as 500 sel, this body style was the longest running body style by Mercedes it went from the late 70's throughout the 80's an finally got successor after '91 in which 92 ushered in the new body style for the S-class line
Back in the 90's, the S-class coupe was the SEC (C for coupe), while the S-class sedan was SEL (L for long-body). It was with the launch of the 4-door S-class coupe in the early 2000's that they named it the CL, to separate that 4-door coupe from the sedan. Then they made it into a 2-door CL, and then they incorporated it back into the S-class name. Why? Because Mercedes wants to be able to separate and incorporate their name plates with prestige and they keep reinventing their lineup.
The CL has always been the S coupe. The w216 CL and the w221 S class share the same suspension and engines and electronics. Even many of the interior parts are shared. I have an 08 S65 and I noticed it's only 152lbs heavier than the CL. So it seems all that's missing are the 2 rear doors. One thing I love though is the front end styling of the CL over the S class.
I like guys who are promoting used MB's They can be a very good value if you shop around but will require some work within months of buying them. I have purchased 4 CLS500/550 and always set aside 5% of the purchase price for repairs and or even upgrades. If this bothers people then I tell them not to buy a MB ! Keep up the good work , these cars are a dream to drive Benzman. ( your shots on the car are very good )
Nice video. Mercedes going back with the S-class name for these big body coupes just makes the CL even more rare. I’m definitely trying to test drive a 63 or 65 to see the power difference.
Love my CL63 nothing can top it‼️ They had S coupes in the 70’s 80s & 90s & also CL in the 90s which was basically the same damn car as the S coupe. I guess they just finally said choose one name & call it a day.
Cl63 AMG is very beatiful, has an amazing exhaust.I cant find a car that exhaust is better than a Cl63 AMG.Cl63 is more beatiful than S coupe.I think that the Mercedes should produce this cars.
Sweet video man I love my cl just was at dealer the other day and I seen the new S Coupe it wasn't enough really to make me want to switch it's not enough but it's very very nice and I am very proud to say our cars are so rare that we probably have the only one in our ZIP code or even three zip next to you I love my CL sweet I put the illuminated star in the grill the ghost Shadow Lights on the doors and the new LED center caps the CL is still killing them
They said in 2007 that the CL63/65 is the best Mercedes ever made. in 2024 many people still say the CL is still the best Mercedes they ever made. You could buy a GT if you got the money, but its still not got what everyone loves about the CL. even a base model 550 is a amazing to drive in.
Exactly I had the 550 for years I don’t really care for the amg to me the big body is meant to be a luxury car, but my bros got me into the amg version tho, but yes the CL no matter the trim was still the top Mercedes’ that year, the s coupe and CL non amg versions was Mercedes most highest price non amg cars at the time costing more than some amg models, like the e63 in 08 was like 80 to 90k the CL550 was 111 but yes they are lovely cars
That is a good deal but make sure he has service records and everything because those are considered high mileage risk cars. Like sometimes if nothing haven't went out on the car things are waiting to go wrong but sometimes they could have went bad already and he could have fixed them which is a good thing because you wont have to fix anything. And get extended warranty if you can. Overall great car but can be expensive on the repair side
@@3DThaRapstar I was about to ask this same question right now, Looking at one with 108k miles for around the same price $18k it all looks good & I did just ask if they have service records they said they did.. I'll go check it out soon. I love this car still today, I will buy a 2015 s550 or s63 coupe in a couple years maybe in 5, once the price goes down & i'm over the 2008 CL63. Thanks for this informative reply!
Beautiful Stock!!! I really want this model but i enjoy cruising, and want the best SL that will be easy on the gas....Whats your thought on the 2013 CL550? I do love all AMG's i my just get it anyway -Thank you for sharing this....
It was always the E Class coupe. When the S Coupe was rebranded to CL in the mid 90s, the E Class coupe was rebranded as the CLK. "Coupe Light Kompact"
The new s coupe isn't sporty but the interior and technology crush the CL. So, if you want sporty go CL along with saving a boatload of cash. But, if you want q luxury cruiser S coupe.
I got me a 2009 SL550 with a RENNTECH ECU upgrade. The SL(sport light) has been around since the 1950's so it has a long heritage and lineage. For me in the Mercedes line-up, if the series don't start with a 5 or 6 and it's NOT an SUV, anything less in the #'s is a "chick" car.
Yeah I thought that at first but the s coupe grew on me, as models change the CL start to look a little dated, not much tho still one of my favorite looking cars ever
Biggest concern should be anything suspension related... The window regulator motors going bad alternator and the headbolt issue with the engine. But you should be fine just upward on the costy side to repair
Being English not used to people being so excited. It’s great you have such passion. Massive fan of all things AMG am about to buy an CL63 that’s why I checked your video out. Top man keep up the good work👍
it was my dream car back in 2012-13, and it still is..
the new ones are cooler inside because of the features and options but as far as the exterior the 2008 looks best with fender flares and bigger body
Nice video. I love my CL 63 AMG, you know the looks that you get while driving it around feels good. It is a rare car and a true beast.
That's true really rare and a head turner. Everywhere I go I get compliments
I like that the cl class was limited, they will be collectors items later. And they will generate a cult following, same reason I will hold on to my Ford Excursion.
It's still a stunningly gorgeous looking car from the exterior and that matt grey works well on it too.

Dynamic balancer and thermostat was just done ...
Are these cars notorious for head bolts ? Car has 115k.. hasn't been done yet

Maintenance nightmare. $10-20k/year. Run.

Thank you, yes these cars are a bargain buy especially if you know how to look for one that is a well used one
I'm thinking of getting an older model 2005-2013 cl63. Any suggestions on which year is the more reliable year?
Most likely the 2011 and up, but in 05 I believe it’s still a CL55

I'm thinking about buying one of these from a reputable dealer. What's the overall experience and running costs like?
What year did they fix the head bolt issue . Or did they .

Actually 63 isn't 4.7 the 550 is 4.7 twin turbo. There's 6.2L Naturally Aspirated, 5.5L biturbo and 4.0L BiTurbo
My issue is the car usually has problems receiving coverage after you buy it...
No one wants to cover it
the prob with calling it a cl now is it will probably be associated with the cla in the marketing teams mind

Pinical of AMG good point... extra rare
2008 cl63 with 115 k on the clock..body is clean.. should I pull the trigger yes or no ??? Guy is asking 18000 at the moment

Always dope videos.
Hey man been following your video's for a while, love them!
You got any idea why they stopped with the clk and went with the e class coupe instead?
To make the e class name bigger. Like its one of mercedes best sellers so they figured to turn the coupe into the e coupe. Same with the CL
It was always the E Class coupe. When the S Coupe was rebranded to CL in the mid 90s, the E Class coupe was rebranded as the CLK. "Coupe Light Kompact"
the only headache on my CL550 is the radio runs on Fiber Optics..hard to diagnose what's the problem
I just bought it 2009 CL63 with only 17,000 miles the car is brand new triple black I love it I got it for $30,000 it's the dream come true I stole it
Yeah that's a good deal
The cl of 2008-2012 is by far most beautiful Mercedes ever
Yessir beautiful car
I'm going for a s550 coup in a few years I do like the body and interior.
Yeah me too. I seen a s63 amg parked and it look so beasty
I had an 06 a long time ago. I’m thinking of an a 11-12 , or another 03-06. 06 cl65 is I can get it at a decent price
Yeah they have have some for decent prices. The only thing is the mileage sometimes be higher, the more we wait the higher the mileage gets
My dream car is the 2008 CLK 63 Black Series
Definitely those are 💯

Hell YEAH homie!!! Bosses drive the big boys!
Nipsey hussle “cl 6 that’s the baller coupe”
Approximate price for 2008 cl63 ..head bolt change????
Not sure but I heard it cost alot
Just get extended warranty and make sure they cover it 😊
07-14 look much hotter the new s class interior is nicer but rawness is there in the cl63. Cl63 are more rare .
Yeah I thought that at first but the s coupe grew on me, as models change the CL start to look a little dated, not much tho still one of my favorite looking cars ever
The s class coupe looks like nerdlandia from the inside. I prefer the CL600 from 2012.
When did you trade for a cl63? Just a week ago you had a cl550 you should of done a comparison.
I still have the 550. I did do a comparison but that was an early video. I might get them together again to do a new one
I just got my CL550 boiiiiiI’m ready for the exhaust now
Oh yeah you got to put exhaust on just something to give it a nice Roar
Yo bro where did you pickup that front license plate?
Dont know where he got it. the guy before us had it on the car already
Bro, the CL63 is wider and longer than a charger hell cat. And its 2 door. Sign me up
Yessir great cars
the S63 had a 6.2, 5.5 and now a 4.0 engine. Amg never had a 4.7.
Im pretty sure he was being sarcastic he put etc etc. Meaning they are making a lot of models with various diff engines
The new S63 this better the 2018-2019 it's a beast. I think I may go for that one....now
the biggest problem with the cl is people hear c class and im like no fucking c class here bitch!!
Lmao. Yeah anything C people automatically think it's cheap
@@3DThaRapstar I know! So insulting! But yes I totally agree the CL is a mythical beast!!!
forget bills lmao
Liks your videos bro
3d, what else should I be concerned about???

@@3DThaRapstar rear window is inop... and how much will head bolts job be around?? Car has 115k. On the clock. But condition of car is a 9.8
@@robman313slots7 head bolts are expensive on the amg
Bruh they are two different cars they got older cl and s 600 v12s
What do you mean? What are you referring too?
Why is he talking like an excited 11 year old?
Thats basically what I am when it comes to these benz... I can't be happy?

English Cad the CL turns grown men into little boys🤣. That’s how you know a car is special, when it injects youth into your old body
Great content....
