Thanks for your video! In the FPN there is a nice chart to date the 146

@@JavierArellano yes. I know that chart. It is very useful in dating the 146.

Great video, on the silver caps, The older caps were Stamped "925" Newer pens are "Ag 925. Do you happen to know when that change took place?

    Hi, very very interesting video!
I have 3 146, all bought new from Montblanc official dealer.
the first bought right after graduation in the '80s, it has a clean filler window, Germany at the opposite of the clip with no number and a one tone 14K medium nib. Long 142. Split ebonite feed. Clear window.
The second I bought to have a fine nib. It has a two tone 14K nib, Germany written on the right (on the left there is some damage, no number) and is 142 long. Plastic feed. Window with stripes. So I guess from 1991 to 1995 after reunification in October 1991.
The third is 146 long, plastic feed, striped window, two tone medium 14K nib, Germany at right and number at left. The font of Germany is different from N. 2,slightly smaller. I bought it somewhere between 1995 and 2005, as I did not find the other medium nib one, which I found in a bookshelf 20 years later....
Is this consistent with your knowledge?
Are there any marks on the nibs to tell it's size?

I sure can't find any size indication on mine. Mine has W Germany on the top band. So I guess made before 1991? Thanks for you information.

Foarte frumos! Bravo!!!

I think the later 1980s models have a tad more weight than the 1970s model. I have several and the 1980s model (Made in W. Germany) feels more balanced than the 70s, early 80s model and the post 1990s models. That is just my observation on the MB146 range over the decades. I don't have an early model of the MB146. Another very interesting video Mr Pen Collector.

Interesting. I have a 146 with the full ink window, serial number and W Germany on the cap ring and 2 tone 14k nib. My guess is it was from 1991ish

Thank you very much for interesting history of 146. I follow your video to date my 146 which I bought 2nd hand . I was convinced it was from 1984 to 1995 . But it has a brass piston . It is only 142 cm . What year do you think it was from ? Many thanks
