Also the pianist is playing the end of the bass line wrong. And of two, not and of one preceding. I love these guys but this is not their best. They are better when not being sarcastic. Bring back the authentic! Also, the melody is the bass line and the answer NON? Keep up the wonderful content
@@maurylafoy4102sometimes it’s not about „the best“ but about the most entertaining. In the end this is what music is all about. It’s not a contest about who is most accurate and the topic here was not „call and response“. It was „delivering a musical joke“. So … why so serious? 😉
You are killing me Adam!! 😂😂😂 That made me really laugh. Once again, Bob shows his AI brain/skills/ears...sheesh!! How many bass players can lay out the piano voicing on the bass? I think Peter and Bob set up the humor perfectly....nice!
I’m sticking with it✌️the correct hand gestures 😂 it’s okay to call it A# if you’re in the key of F , Ab, Eb, or even Bb, you know cuz it’s what the cool kids do🤪

In all seriousness, Bob DeBoo is a great musician and a ridiculous teacher. He's the only guy at OpenStudio who understands the hemiola poly--want--a-rhythm stuff that I always blab about. If more bass players led jazz programs, jazz education would be a in a better place. Check out Bob's podcast with another great musician/ educator, Reuben Rogers: "Upright Citizens."
@@Trombinha_jooj Most definitely. He's quite talented in breaking down harmony, melody, and RHYTHM. There's videos of him talking about metronome practice that ALL musicians should check out, even if you don't play bass (I play guitar).
@@NickTour Feeling 3/4 as 4/4 with that "ONE and two AND three" is part of it. I'm also talking about how bass players and drummers feel 6/8 when playing ballads in 4/4, that's the 3:2 polyrhythm. Check out Mike Longo's RHYTHMIC NATURE OF JAZZ video series for more, then revisit Bob DeBoo for review. 😅this is SUPERB. 😅. Reminds me of ‘Sad Adam Maness’ pi*sed off re: Emmet Cohen’s superior vamp. Sad (but very knowing) guy in the corner. Keep the content coming guys. You’re on the right track…
I want to live in your universe
lmaoooo these guys are the fucking best
this collab needs to happen @femmefalafel
ikr
You already do
Me too
So What is a remarkably clever composition, I think.
The bass says, “The-mel-ody-is-in-the-bass” and then the horns say, “So What?”
Love that!
Brilliant!😂
This is top-tier musician buffoonery. I am 130% here for it.
The worst sin in this video is the piano player doubling the bass part. PTSD to jam sessions
That’s exactly what I was thinking, let the bass have room to breathe.
Doubling bass lines when they are explicitly written out is common though. For instance Cedar Walton on That Old Feeling
Also the pianist is playing the end of the bass line wrong. And of two, not and of one preceding. I love these guys but this is not their best. They are better when not being sarcastic. Bring back the authentic! Also, the melody is the bass line and the answer NON? Keep up the wonderful content
I personally enjoy when a pianist doubles my bass line. Obviously time and place, but phonetically, it just sounds good to me.

LOL Adam is so funny in this 😂😂😂
I love this channel
Killin me😂Nice arpeggios Bob🤜✅
Common courtesy usually dictates that you check with your bass player BEFORE going on stage if he knows song xyz.
I’m sticking with it✌️the correct hand gestures 😂 it’s okay to call it A# if you’re in the key of F , Ab, Eb, or even Bb, you know cuz it’s what the cool kids do🤪

That's what the folks are all saying
Oh yes, he did leave the stage
After his solo was all over
Coltrane he walked off the stage
That's what the folks are all saying
Yes, they both left the stage
Clean out of sight
They felt they had to rehearse
Although we know they are masters
They get a real groovy sound
And you will have to admit it
Yes, they both left the stage
Soon as their solo's were over
And if you can't figure out
Their groove I'd like to help you
Their groove, I've helped you
So what"
The studio decor is fire AF
Is that from "kind of blue", M.Davis? Sounds familiar.
Such a great tune...
Love it #NoBassShame ... You guys rock (or Jazz)
Im just glad i found this channel

Ridiculous in what sense? Ridiculously good?
Hemiola poly rhythm? What is that, if you don’t mind sharing? (So I can look into further later when I have a chance of course)
Are you talking about how bass players imply 6/8 by accenting the and of the 2 in fast waltzes? It's one of our trade secrets

What’s the rush?
Now do 'So What' by the Anti-Nowhere League.
The internet just lives to bully bass players and it ain’t right man😂 I respect my brothers and sisters anchoring the rhythm section ✌️✊
I don't think bully means what you think it means.
Teasing is not bullying.
Guys I’ve probably commented this already but I love you very very much ❤
Lol I love you guys
😍😍😍😍🙌🙌🙌
lmaooooo poor bob
Music is fun🎶
The tempo on the second note is different btw
e bravo BBAAAB
Nice!!!!
❤
Bob the chord builder. He couldn't fix it :(
Don't confuse melody with harmony😏
No, the melody is in the bass.
That is sweet
Would have sounded good with the modulation tbh
Bruh 😂😂😂😂
this pianist is JOCKIN! he says the melody is the chords!! bassist is right, hes playin the melody! lol they are funny. ciao from italy. so what.
Haw haw guffaw guffaw, that’s sho funny I forgot to laff!!!
#pianoisbest
No robar la línea del otro..please!!
Lmao @ bass shame
No bass shame
hahhaa
Typical bass player
[I'm kidding everyone, chill]
Lollllll
😁
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
This camera movement just makes me swipe away from these videos. This time I just tried my best to stay around to leave this comment
No 5 strings upright ? 😬
Lol, this is cute
So anyway, when are you gonna tell me how you managed to wake up one day in a different reality...? You know, one where there's #nobassshame
😂😂😂
hahaha
😂😂
😂
XD
That things got a unison out of tune
Hahaha
If we can't make fun of the bass player what even is the point of music anymore
The camera movement is awful and takes away from this channel..
Wrong So What!, you guys made up a song just to mess with people
#nomoredbagpianists
HAHAHAHAHAHA oh my goodness you guys are clowns and also geniuses. I LOVE this jazz comedy. HEAT. nooooooooooooooo BASESHAMING AROUND HERE.
#NoBassShame
😂😂😂
😂
😂😂
How’d you get Luka Doncic to be in the end of your video?
Don’t you mean the RUclipsr Magnify?
Hilarious!😂
Hey, I love your videos. Can you makme a video on how to choose what chords to keep toghther and what sounds good
😂
#nobassshame
Where’s the intro??
So-What!!!!
This is cool and all but all you really need to do is play power chords on guitar
He has the rhythm wrong
😂
😂😂
End of an era.
😂
Nowadays everyone has an older relative who still bass shames. It’s a generational thing
No bass shame. Peter plays too busy, what with his ten fingers and all.
If he was saying it's the bassline and not the melody, why was he playing it 😐😶😶🌫️🫥😂
I wouldn't say that's a melody at all, it's just in the upper voice
What'd I Say is a totally different tune 😂
Production quality here is actually crazy 😂
😅this is SUPERB. 😅.
