  • In this video i show you how I removed the open then close drive window message from my 2017 Silverado. I attempted resolving the issue by replacing the driver window switch but after that did work I knew I had to look deeper into the issue. This issue could occur on all Silverado’s and sierras this body style from 14-18. I have since had codes cleared and my steering code has no come back .

Thank you. Switch stopped working only on the drivers window but would do all other windows fine. Changed out regulator and was confused. Changed out switch and hit a wall. Your video saved me! Super thanks.

I have this same issue on my 2014 silverado. I'm gonna give the harness a closer look. I'm hoping I have the same issue

When you had this issue, was your regulator making a click noise (same as the click you hear if the window is rolled up all the way and you hit up again)?

@@denizgencer6918my driver window is making a clicking noise but it stopped working. I changed the regulator and the switch. Still not working. I will look into the wire harness next.

Thank u for this video, it worked. I had the same issues, my red and blue harness wire was corroded, i reconnected it with thick speaker wire , and my window and everything else started working properly again. ..I can cancel my GMC upcoming maintenance appointment now. Thank u again.

For anyone trying to find this out disconnecting your negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes then reconnecting helps fix this before you look at the wiring. I’m writing this after watching the video because i didn’t feel like talking the door panel off

What are the female pins called that go in the grey/pink harness?

I have the same window issue. I was thinking it could be the windiw switchboard, because when i go to put the passenger window down using the driver side switch it hesitates but works normal if using passenger side window switch.

How easy was it to get the wiring unplugged? Is it on video? My 2014 has lots of electrical gremlins. Can't get any windows down with drivers side switch

Mine started after I disconnected battery to replace a temperature sensor. I’m going to double check battery connection.

How did you rewire it? I have the same problems with my Yukon. Is there a special tool to release the wire from the connector? TIA

@@deandrehall3044 so far so good,it was the ground on the right side by the tweeter. It had that insulation touching the ground there. I did the left side already so check the two grounds by the tweeters, I cut mine back and haven’t had any flickering or shutting off like usual. Hope this helps
