    Hey not a problem. As for tightness of the filter, most filter requires 3/4 turn after the gasket touches the metal base. Also there is no need to pour any oil in the filter. This is why you run the car for a minute then check the oil level again. Lastly, the only reason to lube the gasket and thread is to prevent it from seizing if it's over tighten. Appreciate your comment!

    Not sure if someone posted, but it is best to check the oil with the vehicle off and sitting as level as possible. This allows the oil to settle back in the pan, and prevents adding to much oil.

    Just a observation. I think you over tightened the oil filter. Just something to think about. Other than that good video.

  • @dial2fast

    Honda spec out using 5W20 purely for fuel econonmy benefits. By using 5W20, the viscosity would benefit the fuel economy by a small percentage. In fact, you can run 5W30 if you want.

  • @dial2fast
    @dial2fast  11 лет назад

    When I traded in my 95 Accord couple years back, I didn't have any transmission problem. As to mixing 5W20 and 5W30 oil, yes you can mix them.

      I notice when dad put 5w20 gtx sm /sn + half qt Lucas stabilizer it ran like a champ. Would you say the new sp formula and there green bottle for 75 thousand miles is still good. Got 2 many 10w30 bottles from prepping lol

  • @dial2fast

    I am no expert but I usually stick with what's recommended by the manufacturer. I also have a nissan and I use 5W30 on that one. Also I did use to own a 95 Accord, LOVED IT! Also a fan of ETCG.

    Hey dial2fast thanks for the great video! Do you have a preference on the ramp to use? I caught a brief glimpse but couldn't make out the specifics. Do you have problems with the ramp itself moving as you try to drive on it?

  • @dial2fast

    I haven't had to do the coolant flush yet but eventually I will do a video on it.

  • @dial2fast

    I did not check it when it was on the ramp. See 5:17. Once I fill the oil, I start the car and move the car off the ramp, then shut off engine and check oil level.

    You will have to wait awhile for the spark plug video. I only have 38,000 miles on it right now. As to the MAF cleaning, get one of those MAF aerosol cleaner that is safe for use on MAF. I forgot the name but google it and you can find it at Autozone or Advance Auto Parts. Don't use throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner.

    When you take out the filter you can use a flimsy plastic cup around when you use your hand so it fills the cup instead of spilling on the frame

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  5 лет назад +1

      You can tighten with whatever you want. The rule is 3/4 turn once gasket makes contact. That's also the instruction provided on OEM filters. The problem with telling someone that is inexperienced to just hand tighten until is 'tight' is you stand a good chance someone will put it on loose. You don't want to drive down the road and see a trail of black fluid in your rearview mirror.

    • @aurvaroy6670
      @aurvaroy6670 5 лет назад +1

      @@dial2fast okay. If that's what the instructions say then sure tighten it. And it's true that inexperienced people wouldn't hand tighten all the way

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  8 лет назад +2

      +Hoang Han 5W20 is a lighter weight oil and Honda uses this to get better gas mileage. You should use what the manufacturer suggests for any car. You won't damage anything with 5W30 but change it back to 5W20 next oil change.

    You may be no expert, but you know what you're doing, me, l don't even know the very basic of mechanic other than changing oil. Was your 95 Accord Transmission slipped before shifting to 2nd at low speed or when making a right turn? By the way, if the car already has the 5W20 in it and it's low on motor oil, is it ok to mixed the 5W20 with the 5W30 or not?

    • @dial2fast

      You can use any brand as long as it's the correct viscosity. I now use Wal-Mart brand and will continue. Don't waste your money on the expensive brands. The key is change your oil regularly. My other car is a 12 year old Nissan and it has no oil sludge.

    is it ok to use an STP oil filter for my 2008 odyssey ? and what about PENZOIL SAE 5W-20?…the owners manual says that the oil should say IPA something like that , I just bought everything I find that the filter is very small, thank you.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  9 лет назад

      Brian Vasquez As to what weight of oil, use only what the manufacturer recommend. As to what brand of filter, the main thing is to change it with every oil change. All major brands you can find in stores are fine (I know some will swear at me for saying this, but I will stick to my believe that the key here is change it with each oil change). All motor oils you buy in US have the API rating, and simply means that oil has been tested to conform to a standard. API = American Petroleum Institute.

      Hand tight ~ I cringed watching him crank down on that filter. Tighten hard by hand as you want ~ too tight can seize the filter to the threaded shaft (even with a bit of oil on the threads) or you run the risk of over compressing the seal and either causing it to fail outside of it's channel on the filter from being deformed or breaking it by crushing it (I've done this and it is a major mess after it voids oil all over the place.)

      +Ahmad Wahab Wahab You can change your oil anywhere from 5000km to 6000km for regular oil. About 10000km for synthetic oil. The key is regular scheduled oil change. If you do a lot of stop and go, then change it a bit sooner.
