“good enough to keep me preoccupied during quarantine” sums it up. not a very hard to learn game, very simple but surprisingly keeps me playing the next level, especially with friends
Me and my brother have played it for like the past 5 hours and we love it! We've bonded so much because of this and single handily saved our relationship.
samee!!!!!! I finished the game but they added another mode: Adventure mode which basically means I have to restart the entire game and complete it with Adventure mode which also makes it 10x harder.
We don't need it. They are still updating the game and there are tons of mods. If minecraft 2 comes out, it will be the same thing and add stuff that they could add with just one update and stuff that you can get with mods.
I got this thinking I'll play with randoms but my family watched me play it n wanted to join. Soo I beat the game with my wife an 2 kids youngest being 4 we had a blast. The love it brings the family together
One big thing you didn't mention is the quest for the Secret Cow Level. This is a nod to Diablo apparently, but you must gather a rune from many levels, then go to the church in Camp to unlock this super secret level. That in itself is a nice Easter Egg and adds some replay value to the game. Also there a other secret levels you can find in the game, this game definitely rewards you for exploring every nook and cranny in a map. I've played it over 30 hours and keep playing it with friends to help them out and it's still fun even though I've beaten it on the hardest setting and maxed out my Gear level. Can't wait for the first DLC in July.
@@greysoncrowe5196 Daily trials sounds like something you get bored off after a few times. DLC's? Unless they are free that's just.. Paying money for more time, so it doesn't count because then the DLC would have to be long enough to be worth the money you spend on it which i bet it isn't. Seasonal events are exactly that, seasonal, that doesn't add replayability. It only adds "I'll jump into the game for this 1 week of perhaps-fun". I mean, i know Minecraft Dungeons is a kid's game, so it's fine, but all i'm saying is for anyone else, 30 hours to beat the game completely is just wasted money.
@@Dead25m well the daily trials are MUCH harder than the games max difficulty, but the also give higher power rewards, on top of that, there's also loot EXCLUSIVE to them like the beenest armor and soul-hunter crossbow
The game really starts coming together when you start getting armor that has stacking buffs. I played last night starting out as a melee fighter and ended playing as a soul mage thing that collected souls and fired beams of energy.

I played this with my 4 year old daughter yesterday and thought it was pretty good. I'd love to see more of the Minecraft IP like this, but fleshed out with a little more complex systems or a variety of things to do similar to other games (I'm thinking Fantasy Life or even various MMOs). Bought it today around 10 hours ago. I already have 8 hours in it. It is incredibly addictive, but in a good way. I am not the type to have an urge to do "just one more level", but even playing by myelf I was having a great time. I do think that the skin suggestion is a good idea, but other than it not being cross platform (my friend has a PS4 and I have a Switch) I love it. I am almost certain that it will be cross platform in the future though.
PS4 doesnt really do cross platforming. It may be likely with Xbox as the original Minecraft game is cross platforming if you use Xbox account. I play regular Minecraft on my switch with my friend who plays it on PC.
@Kyle Aldis Most played first party game on PS4? I'm not so sure about that. However, I don't think Sony has to nor will they have cross platforming anytime soon. The only reason Xbox has it with the switch for the regular Minecraft game is because they let you use your Microsoft account so you can play with Xbox players or PC players. But Minecraft and Xbox are both made by Microsoft. Since it is their game they made a way for this to be possible. But Sony has no reason nor way to make this possible.
One thing that I thought was cool is the play style variety even though there are no "classes" my character now has armor that comes with a flying bat that attacks I also have the dog that attacks and the hunters bow that places a target on an enemy that both the bat and dog will attack together when marked. Definitely fun to pick up and play here and there.
Mojang should make a dlc for this game adding herobrine as a mini boss in a new smaller section. Or they could make a game focused on herobrine. Idk just felt like saying that.
It's like asking Nintendo to add a mini dlc for Ben drowned in breath of the wild. It was really popular at the time and was considered a part of the majora mask (I think it was that game) but at the end of the day, it's just a fake creepypasta made by a teenager.
Me and my brother have played it for like the past 5 hours and we love it! We've bonded so much because of this and single handily saved our relationship.
"The Combat is simple but not too simple" I literally watched the same combat the whole video, just be honest here ; ) You are essentially doing the same all the time.
xSHARKIE 178x I would buy the Xbox or PS4 version, the feel of the controls on Switch isn’t as good as in the Xbox One or PS4 ones. I got it on Xbox because of Game Pass, so that can also save you a little bit of money
Im a HUGE playstation fanboy BUT.....even I can appreciate a good game from a rival company. Thus I unashamedly purchased the hero version on the kids switch and my playstation. Good Job mojang and Microsoft.
@Vox Populi Yeah but honestly Otherworld looked so fucking cool, you could swing on grappling hooks properly, the bosses and terrain were all going to be revamped- but it was probably just too much.
That’s tragic then..I spent like 2 hours just dying...I was playing on the highest difficulty because I heard the whole game was just easy and wanted a challenge...
I would say the game definitely lives up to it if you continue to grind for cooler gear. Apocalypse mode on max difficulty provides a very adequate challenge even with friends.
I wish that after you basically beat the "Final Boss" that there was another map or something more other than just making the game harder and adding better loot. I despise the fact that it just gets harder, there’s no new enemies when you get to the harder difficulty, but I do like what they have now. Just add more places to go and some new enemies every difficulty.
thank you for all your hard work at gameranx , seriously. you guys are such a respectable (all around) game channel and I live you guys I've been subbed since 200k , the only game channel I'll watch !!
i'm like 20 and I remember being 12/13 going to my friend's house where he showed me this weird little blocky game called Minecraft ffs the game has come a long way and I'm so happy it has gone from just a simple Java thing to a more complex stuff, plus the change to bedrock is superb. I know Java and C++ and hell, the Bedrock implementation is just so good and opens up much more posibilities if it just lets go of the Java version (which should get support, but you've seen how pretty Minecraft can look and how well it runs compared to the Java version, maybe they should allow mods and stuff, like, have less tight of a hand surrounding Bedrock mods)
Don’t get it for Windows 10 yet. I bought it and every time I try to play it it says “game ownership not established.” I heard that Microsoft and mojang are working on fixing it
The thing i love about this game is that it opens up a load of opportunities for the standard minecraft game. There are so many new creatures/creature variants and blocks and plant types that they could add to the game. Even the shaders they are using for dungeons is probably similar to what they are planning to release for bedrock edition in the future. They now have all the character models and textures, they just have to port them over to minecraft at some point.
Is it that the both of you can't stop playing it or you can't and your daughter has already lost interest? If it's the latter, that's pretty much the kind of a parent I would probably be, buying something for my kid to enjoy only to enjoy it more myself.
In my mind minecraft dungeons has a lot of pottental as a game, similar to minecraft in some degree, I just wish they introduce cut scenes to some of the bosses to make its more immersive, one example of why this work is broken heart of ender which had this massive cut scene at the beginning and the end, but the good news is they are introducing more cosmetics and emote, as well season adventures and the tower which makes it even more fun in challenge, as you can go though the tower and face enemy variety.
This video has transitioned me from "that's weird, I'll never play it" to "oh hey, this could be a cool diablo fix". I feel like "Minecraft" has fundamentally changed, starting at v1.0. I've played since early beta. Before that it was mining, crafting, and building. Then they added the end and now mini-dungeons, pillagers, etc. so I really feel like this is a natural progression.
It's a nice way for both the new and old generation of Minecraft players to experience something new like this, almost like a breath of fresh air. And as a A-RPG enthusiast from the Diablo 2 days, I am very excited to see the younger generation get introduced to the genre in this way. The game may look simple, but I think it will do really well when it comes to finding the right kind of audience for the game. I'll definitely give the game a try.
Good game, actually has good replayability, that's what I got out of playing it, though the repeat can get kinda boring especially if your looking for lore or secrets
You should do a before you buy on Minecraft Dungeons Arcade, the test machines are already out there, and my local arcade has one, and I want to know if it is worth my hard earned chips!
i definately think you should be able to build your own camp. doesn't have to be the same kind of building in Minecraft, could work like you buy a building you place it kinda deal. like clash of clans. could even tie into the story, you can send villagers out for resources, or raid other villages just as passive activities to do at your base, also gives you something to do with emeralds. and yea with skins idk how they would do that, cause if you could implement your own skins, you would then get all the DLC skins. cause I mean people could just copy them.
I'm skeptical. I'll be waiting for the two "DLC Packs" (whatever those are) to release, and hear more about the future of the game before buying the standard/hero edition. If a modding scene pops up I'll be more than happy to build my own tileset theme or something for fun, or atleast try to.
The dlc packs are creeping winter and some jungle one and creeping winter comes out July and the jungle one comes out in September btw the game is good
I would love it if they updated this in the future by porting texture packs from vanilla Minecraft. Or the ability to create your own dungeon, with the ability to customize the mechanics and enemies.

When your so early that the video is only available in 360p
I was confused thanks
Lol
Yo wtf
Real men watch YT in 144p.
The game itself looks veeeeery similar to hytale so idk
One thing that I thought was cool is the play style variety even though there are no "classes" my character now has armor that comes with a flying bat that attacks I also have the dog that attacks and the hunters bow that places a target on an enemy that both the bat and dog will attack together when marked. Definitely fun to pick up and play here and there.
Got the same armor just need better unique bow but loving the game so far
My sleep rythm is so messed up because of the lockdown, but i'm very early on gameranx videos so that's a win in my book!
How to play Minecraft Dungeons: mash buttons really fast
Yes
You can hold
Not realy you’d just be wasting your health potion and tnt
Mash the healing potion button until it's done cooling down, but you died just before it finished.
Thats what I do in smash bros lmao
Mojang should make a dlc for this game adding herobrine as a mini boss in a new smaller section. Or they could make a game focused on herobrine. Idk just felt like saying that.
It's like asking Nintendo to add a mini dlc for Ben drowned in breath of the wild. It was really popular at the time and was considered a part of the majora mask (I think it was that game) but at the end of the day, it's just a fake creepypasta made by a teenager.
Me and my brother have played it for like the past 5 hours and we love it! We've bonded so much because of this and single handily saved our relationship.
That's just sad😂

I love minecraft dungeons Diablo is one of my favourite games, this doesn’t do as much as Diablo but still a great job

xSHARKIE 178x I would buy the Xbox or PS4 version, the feel of the controls on Switch isn’t as good as in the Xbox One or PS4 ones. I got it on Xbox because of Game Pass, so that can also save you a little bit of money
Im a HUGE playstation fanboy
BUT.....even I can appreciate a good game from a rival company. Thus I unashamedly purchased the hero version on the kids switch and my playstation.
Good Job mojang and Microsoft.
That moment when Minecraft dungeons genuinely feels harder to me then diablo 3
“He has the Minecraft feel”
There’s neither mining or crafting.
It doesn’t need some big features from Minecraft to still have Minecraft’s vibe/ feel.
If I showed you a picture of a world in minecraft without any crafting gui or mining, would you think minecraft?

@Vox Populi Yeah but honestly Otherworld looked so fucking cool, you could swing on grappling hooks properly, the bosses and terrain were all going to be revamped- but it was probably just too much.
There is still some hope for other world, if redigit gets something like 40,000 signatures they will open source the game.

This looks like it has some incredible potential.
yep i had that in mind all the time playing the game
It definitely had so much potential. Its shocking how much potential could be squandered in a game like this.
Wow, thanks! Appreciate you sticking around for so long.
i'm like 20 and I remember being 12/13 going to my friend's house where he showed me this weird little blocky game called Minecraft
ffs the game has come a long way and I'm so happy it has gone from just a simple Java thing to a more complex stuff, plus the change to bedrock is superb.
Last time I was this early I was hyped for minecraft 2
Me and my mate started playing this last night, and we absolutely love it, we are 28 and 29 years old so all age groups can get into it
Yep I'm 33 and enjoy playing the game with my son.
Dustin Minor very wholesome
So if I wanted to play solo on Xbox would I need a gold subscription?
Don’t get it for Windows 10 yet. I bought it and every time I try to play it it says “game ownership not established.” I heard that Microsoft and mojang are working on fixing it
I got that too but i just had to get internet and run it as adminstrator
Finally found a before you buy before I actually brought it its a miracle!
I bought this to play with my daughter and I can’t stop playing it... lol
So theres splitscreen?
@@naivedays5421 yes
thats wholesome
Is it that the both of you can't stop playing it or you can't and your daughter has already lost interest? If it's the latter, that's pretty much the kind of a parent I would probably be, buying something for my kid to enjoy only to enjoy it more myself.
MinimiMax she’s still interested, but I only let her game for an hour or so a day
In my mind minecraft dungeons has a lot of pottental as a game, similar to minecraft in some degree, I just wish they introduce cut scenes to some of the bosses to make its more immersive, one example of why this work is broken heart of ender which had this massive cut scene at the beginning and the end, but the good news is they are introducing more cosmetics and emote, as well season adventures and the tower which makes it even more fun in challenge, as you can go though the tower and face enemy variety.
My daughter loves Minecraft, and I love the Diablo games. Looks like I need to pick this up!
Great review as always!
“Yellow wizard needs food badly”
Is there replay ability or am I just beating this in a day and not getting full use out of my 20 dollars?
There is a huge replay ability!!
The varying unlockable difficulties for beating the game on the previous difficulties makes it easily replayable multiple times.
Dawg it's 20 dollars I don't know why your so hesitant 😂
[ZenosSaki] yeah... 20 dollars wasted if you aren’t careful 🥴
Are the character classes ? Stats? Skills?
I've played Diablo for 25 years and my 10 year old loves Minecraft- we'll be blasting!

Its 7.5/10, 8 if you play with friends
So it’s basically a average dungeon crawler with a Minecraft skin that will keep you occupied but not entertained for long.
I love how you can drop in and drop out at any point with local co-op, have been having a bunch of fun playing this with my dad.
Good game, actually has good replayability, that's what I got out of playing it, though the repeat can get kinda boring especially if your looking for lore or secrets
When you are so early that has only 360p and 15 FPS

You should do a before you buy on Minecraft Dungeons Arcade, the test machines are already out there, and my local arcade has one, and I want to know if it is worth my hard earned chips!
It is very fun with friends and also you get cards and you get different types of cards you should try it

Him:pretty light on story
Me:trust me the lore people will find something in minecraft dungeons that will help in minecraft lore
i definately think you should be able to build your own camp. doesn't have to be the same kind of building in Minecraft, could work like you buy a building you place it kinda deal. like clash of clans. could even tie into the story, you can send villagers out for resources, or raid other villages just as passive activities to do at your base, also gives you something to do with emeralds.
and yea with skins idk how they would do that, cause if you could implement your own skins, you would then get all the DLC skins. cause I mean people could just copy them.
Me watching after I buy: I’m four parallel universes ahead of you
I'm skeptical. I'll be waiting for the two "DLC Packs" (whatever those are) to release, and hear more about the future of the game before buying the standard/hero edition. If a modding scene pops up I'll be more than happy to build my own tileset theme or something for fun, or atleast try to.
The dlc packs are creeping winter and some jungle one and creeping winter comes out July and the jungle one comes out in September btw the game is good
@@aghast6954 its the other way around bro

Y’all gotta also realize this game is also fairly new so there might be future updates fixing changes
I would love it if they updated this in the future by porting texture packs from vanilla Minecraft. Or the ability to create your own dungeon, with the ability to customize the mechanics and enemies.
The differences between this review and Skillup's review is staggering.

I never actually liked Minecraft (I'm 34, btw) but my kid (8yo) loooves Minecraft, he breads it, he only talks about it. And my love for gaming has truly trikled down to him, but Minecraft was never a game where we could meet common ground. Enter Minecraft Dungeons... Man, we have had a blast! It's an awesome game to connect with your kids, it's not too tough so they feel right at home, yet it's not too easy either, so you feel the rush of the challenge, no other game has connected me more with my kid. It's great.
In my opinion this is a decently played out game. I would recommend this. I would play it with someone by you.
