Yes, Stingers in handguns, that`s something. Never tried them in a revolver. A buddy of mine was stopped during a match because they thought he was shooting a 9mm😆
@thegunviking I guess I'm strange, I'm right-handed, and right-eye dominant but I shoot pool left-handed. It just looked like to me when you were shooting that you were left-handed but looking through the scope with your right eye. Good shooting!

One thing that must be understood. A surpressor is a muffler and works on similar principles as a mufflers on vehicles. THE biggest thing that is missunderstood is that regardless of the volume of the "can" if there is not a matching restriction on the output and within the can there will be less reduction in the pulses. . So if the surpressor is not designed for the barel diameter it will fail to reduce volume as much. Therefore if your surpressors are designed for larger calibres, they will be less effective on smaller calibres. . This is standard filter theory that applies in many fields including electronics. . The filter, muffler, surpressor, takes a restricted high volume flow, dumps it into a larger chamber or series of chambers and then feeds that flow out thru a restriction, resulting in a smoother flow. If the small paths within the surpressor and the output path do not match the input path the sound reduction will not be as effective.
A similar example on a youtube vid, was somebody trying to silence a generator by fitting it with a relativly very large automotive muffler, but not undertstading why large sound reduction was not achieved. This example the typical small engine exhaust port at 25mm or 1 inch was dumped into a muffler designed for 2 inch pipe with a 2 inch output ... poor result A better result could have been achieved by restricting the output to 25mm or 1 inch or better still fitting a larger than original muffler designed for a 25mm/1 inch exhaust, like one off a motorbike or scooter.
This is a huge topic, and I`m just a simple, norwegian gunviking. With you name, and comments, I understand that this is something you know a thing or two about. I don`t pretend to be an expert, far from it, just love to do some testing😊. Thank you for your input!
Interesting! Perhaps you can someday do the same with subsonic ammo. Say, CCI STD. I've sometimes wondered what difference a different brand of suppressor made, if any. As for stingers, I think I still have most of the first box I purchased. I'm just more into accuracy and no loud sonic crack that high speed. Just me. Plus we jump through hoops with forms, fingerprints and a $200 fee to apply for each one. Then, the worst part use to be it took12-24 months to get approved... or denied. You would think they were still working with an abacus in the federal government. For some magical reason, this spring they decided to go to "electronic filing" and the approval times went from 12-24 months to sometimes as low as 4-6 hours. Hej på dig! Not recommended to the shoot longer case CCI stingers in match rifles. You better take the CCI velocitor, but anyway; high speed 22lr ammo is crap and never accurate but we did agree about that before 😉 Cheers!
@@thegunviking For me you don't have to do more tests buddy. I don't use HV 22lr ammo but it was a good test to show for the difference in noise. I use standard velocity Norma tac.22 and have a Jaki moderator mounted on my Anschutz 1416. It's more quiet than my HW springer air rifles, only the impact is louder. I like the Jaki because the diameter is only 24 millimeters and is not so dominant in the scope on a low magnification.
@@thegunviking Yes from Finland. Kost in Sweden about 1000kr. It's alloy with one piece composite insert and is easy to clean with the stuff you buy in a spray bottle you use to clean the windows from a wood stove. 22lr is dirty ammo.
That is true. The crack from the bullet will be there, nothing to do with that. But a lagre portion of the noise is the gasses. And that can be dealt with with a good suppressor. In Norway 60-80 percent of all huntingrifles are equipped with suppressors, no matter what caliber.
But on where the sound is drastically different, 94db, etc. It can happen if powder charge is slightly lower, which often happens with commercial 22cal ammo.
Simple formula for zeroing scope without guessing and wasting ammo....... First, determine range in decimal format. by dividing known range by 100. Then plug those numbers into the formula "Error in inches / range number from previous calculation = adjustments in MOA needed". Example: Say range is 75yds and you're hitting 3In high. First we "75 / 100 = 0.75" Then using that number, we get " 3in / 0.75 = 4MOA correction". But if your suppressor has an index position, so you can put it back on the same way every time, the induced error is a known variable. This number should go in your "rifle data book" so you can do the math without firing a shot. Then you're never off target with that first round. But ideally, suppression requires subsonic.
Thank you for the interesting information. The problem with this setup is that I can`t get the poi low enough with HV ammo. It`s the built inn MIL in the scope mount that causes this. Another problem for me is that I shoot WAY to many different ammo variants in my rifles. I almost never fire the same ammo on dirrerent range days. And now I have bought an old BRNO Model 2 from 1976, so even more rifles to test…
Single modules on the CMM-6 will be available later I`m told. I will try to get hold of a couple. I have to check if I can afford it, I just vought 6 new suppressors to test…
