Hi Everyone, We hope you enjoyed our video! Which small travel trailer did you like? Please say hello by leaving a comment below! Also, please feel free to ask any questions or just tell us about yourselves. We want to get to know you and share our RV experiences.
Great video! Please keep up the good work! As you look at a lot of units... ever consider doing a series on full time, cold weather capable units? I’m hunting for something that doesn’t have a warranty that gets voided if you use it full time, has a heated and enclosed underside so the tanks can be heated by ducting and if you are at an RV site w power. Valves INSIDE the enclosed underbelly so they don’t freeze, and other features like decent tank sizes.
@@lordneeko hi Neeko, we just do brief reviews and many times - like at RV Shows we can’t even access all sides of the exteriors. We figure if people see something they like they can investigate further. Thanks for the feedback though… we do appreciate it.

Watched all through. May I request that you comment on the long term viability of the Murphy bed latching mechanisms in future videos? I have seen some poor examples that would quickly deteriorate the compressed wood. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming.
Thanks for all the information. We are interested in small travel trailers like these with king size beds. They are hard to find so we appreciated the info on the Heartland Mallard, but we liked the set up of the Grand Design better. That kitchen was awesome!

I liked the grand design. I have never owned and RV before. My wife and I are looking for one and so far grand designs are the one that we like the most and have greats reviews.

@@RVBlogger Thank you for the suggestion. We being thinking on renting a class C first since I don't have a truck to pull a travel trailer. Am in the search for one and learning about towing numbers. Thank you for the link, I'll check it out.
On the first two Jayco’s with the ripple/uneven surface siding panels... you might want to warn people about the water issues. We rented one just like them (not a Jayco) and when we arrived at our campsite after driving in stormy weather the inside was soaked, clothes, floor, cabinets and mattress. Not sure if all are like that, but our one rental was enough to make me cautious for life. The Grand Design was very cool! Some Murphy bed mattresses are thin and well, horrible. That mattress looked O.K.! Thanks!
Hi Erin, Thanks for the tip and glad you like some of the Murphy bed designs. Enjoy the Super Bowl tonight! Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
The Heartland Mallard is the best. It would be almost perfect if they pulled out those couch seats and put in reclining seats. A perfect trailer to me is small like what you are showing with a king size bed, reclining seats (no dinette) and a good size bathroom (shower 3×3).
Thanks for doing these videos that show multiple small units. Any chance you could include the cargo carrying capacity too, in future videos? I'll be towing with a mid-size truck so it's a factor. Oh, and so far I like the ones with the murphy bed because you can get it out of the way during the day. Thanks again!
Hey Random Spirit, We appreciate the love, support, and suggestion! We do recommend checking out the manufacturer's website for anything we didn't cover to ensure you get the most accurate info :) Great choice!! This was great .... but what I am really interested in are travel trailers that have a max gross weight (when it is filled with all your crap) of 5000 lbs. If the tow vehicle can only pull 5000 lbs, this is important as you could very easily become dangerously overweight very quickly.
Hey JoeDaddy, The info that we didn't cover in the video could probably be found on their website. We're not sure off-hand. Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤ Mike and Susan By the way, we hope you will subscribe to our FREE monthly digital/video magazine called RV Camping Magazine. Let us know how you like it! rvblogger.com/rv-camping-magazine/
I really like the G.D. & Winn. One HUGE advantage that the Winn. has is the torsion axles. The PROBLEM is with the murphy beds though. They're split mattresses and with the quality of RV mattresses you're going to want to replace them. But with what though? Can't go to a mattress store to replace them with a quality mattress. Winn's last year's model used a regular mattress..........they sure didn't change things for the better. Plus the Murphy bed typically really eats the front pass through storage capacity.
Hi PKnewlife, We probably can't show with slides in. Very often we are shooting in dealership parking lots and if the battery is low or dead we can't move the slides. BUT - we have a solution to that and we will be showing how much space is in the camper when the slides are in - in future videos! Stay tuned! Thanks for the great feedback and for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
Very good review as usual, thanks! However, I complain that noting the dry weight is misleading; I think that you should focus on GVWR, which is the real metric needed when selecting a trailer.
Hi Reinaldo, Thanks for your feedback and we might just switch over to that metric in future videos. RUclips does not allow videos to be edited so we can't change the videos we already made. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
@@RVBlogger Yes, thanks! In looking to purchase a trailer for an existing tow vehicle (my personal situation), the GVWR is the key item to look for (to avoid towing and insurance problems.) Keep up the excellent work! (Your reviews are both brief and feature-packed -- rare combination!)
Great channel and thanks! We have not yet bought an RV but were curious, do you need to be hooked up to water and/or electric to use the bathrooms? Thanks!
Hi Sean and Fawn, Great question! Nope - you don't have to be hooked up to water, sewer or electric to use the bathroom in your RV. Hi Johnny, This video is over a year and a half old so I Googled one of the units and found that the weights are UVW. At some point after this video we did switch to GVWR but I'm not sure when. Thanks! Mike
Hi, I really enjoy watching your trailer reviews! A small personal favour to ask thou - can you please show the toilet and floor around it in your next videos please? :) I want to travel with my cats and I need to see where their litter box will fit :) Huge thank you in advance!
Hi there!, thanks for the suggestion! We love when our viewers give us feedback and if we get several people asking us to include the same info we will include it in our videos. But if you see a model you like you could also google it and check it out in greater detail. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
These are all good quality Travel Trailers. If you could please advise if of ICE BOX size. And to me more importantly is the weight DRY Weight. I have a Tacoma. Is the weights DRY or YOU NEVER state this!
Hi Don, All weights in all of our videos are dry weights. Sorry for any confusion there. And no we will not measure the ice box size. I'm afraid measuring every detail of a camper would get boring for most viewers. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
Hi Jet Lee, Great question! Yes they are all UVW. Due to viewer feedback we are now also including GVWR in our newer videos. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan By the way, have you subscribed to our RUclips channel yet? If not we sure hope you will click below and subscribe! Thanks! goto.rvblogger.com/RUclipsChannel?sub_confirmation=1
Hi Topgun, We just do brief overviews and if you see a camper you like we suggest you investigate it further. The videos would be way to long and boring if we covered every spec. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
Hi Common Sense Guy, We don't get into that level of detail. Our videos give brief overviews and then if you see a model you like you can dig into the details.. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
Hi Josh, Great question. All of our videos to date have UVW. But we will be switching over to GVWR for upcoming videos soon so be on the lookout for that! Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
Hi, thank you for your video. But I’m wondering if done any videos on Northwood products, like the 17k Nash travel trailers. Just wondering, thank you guy’s.
All these should be easily towed by a 2018 f150 RCSB with the 5.0 and 3.15 gears right? Because I looked in my owner’s manual and the chart says 8200 max towing

Unfortunately yes. When we first started our RV tour videos we used the UVWR and not GVWR. We now include all weights including CCC. Sorry for any confusion. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting. We appreciate you support!
Why don't you look at the Springdale 1860SS? It has so much more room with the super slide for the family or dogs or just to walk around, under 20K, under 4500 pounds, more closet space too.
Hi William, We can only shoot what is at the dealerships or at RV Shows. If they aren't there we can't get video. And with RV sales going through the roof inventory is extremely limited. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
For most it's not the towing cap amount, it's the hitch weight affecting payload. I've towed a 5300 pound travel trailer and it had 800 pound hitch weight which means one less adult or items I can bring with, and then there's a 7500 pound travel trailer with 520 pounds hitch weight

*thanks for your work and reviews I think the Grand Design tv placement is problematic, working at the kitchen counter make you block the view of the TV. Also, TOO close to the chef!
I’ve been following you for almost a year and I’ve been looking forward to seeing a model I saw similar to the: M210RB but the configuration of as a bit different it had recliner’s
The Grand Design Imagine is really nice, but the couch on the murphy bed looks too automotive for the overall design. Everything else is so residential. I wish they would correct that in the new models.
Hi shestudios, Perhaps they will. Some of the RV Manufacturers read through our comments and see what people are saying and we talk to them every now and then too,. If we get a lot of comments like your I will let them know! Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
Why do these manufacturers think the stove (oe sink with cover) count as counter space outer? Open to cook, counter gone. Open the sink while cooking, counter gone.
Hi Glenn, They are just trying to maximize a very small space. Only so much real estate in a camper. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
@@RVBlogger It was a Idaho based trailer manufacturer back in the '80s was their Hay day they had a 19-ft fifth wheel around 2,000 lb I believe they also came up with what was called a Boaterhome, very unique. There is a manufacturer in Canada called Taylor that make custom-made trailers that are very very lightweight 1200 lb for a 15 ft trailer. I just don't know why manufacturers now can't make something like those.

Watched all through. May I request that you comment on the long term viability of the Murphy bed latching mechanisms in future videos? I have seen some poor examples that would quickly deteriorate the compressed wood. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming.

I'll try to cover that...

Thanks for all the information. We are interested in small travel trailers like these with king size beds. They are hard to find so we appreciated the info on the Heartland Mallard, but we liked the set up of the Grand Design better. That kitchen was awesome!

Glad it was helpful! But maybe our video called 5 Travel Trailers with King Beds - Brand New 2021 Models might be even more helpful?

Hi Yanny,
Grand Design is a Good choice! If you never owned an RV before we suggest you rent one BEFORE you buy one so you will be a better educated buyer.

Thanks!
Hi Erin,
Thanks for the tip and glad you like some of the Murphy bed designs.
Enjoy the Super Bowl tonight!

The Heartland Mallard is the best. It would be almost perfect if they pulled out those couch seats and put in reclining seats. A perfect trailer to me is small like what you are showing with a king size bed, reclining seats (no dinette) and a good size bathroom (shower 3×3).
Hi rm m,
We really like the Heartland too!

This was great .... but what I am really interested in are travel trailers that have a max gross weight (when it is filled with all your crap) of 5000 lbs. If the tow vehicle can only pull 5000 lbs, this is important as you could very easily become dangerously overweight very quickly.
Hi Lida,
That's a really great point and we have considered switching from dry weight to max gross.
Does the grand design make a floor plan with bunks?
Hey JoeDaddy,
The info that we didn't cover in the video could probably be found on their website. We're not sure off-hand.

Hi Richard,

Can you show with all slides in?
Agree!
Hi PKnewlife,
We probably can't show with slides in. Very often we are shooting in dealership parking lots and if the battery is low or dead we can't move the slides. BUT - we have a solution to that and we will be showing how much space is in the camper when the slides are in - in future videos! Stay tuned!
Thanks for the great feedback and for watching and commenting!

Very good review as usual, thanks! However, I complain that noting the dry weight is misleading; I think that you should focus on GVWR, which is the real metric needed when selecting a trailer.
Hi Reinaldo,
Thanks for your feedback and we might just switch over to that metric in future videos.
Thanks!
Hi Sean and Fawn,
Great question! Nope - you don't have to be hooked up to water, sewer or electric to use the bathroom in your RV.

My v6 2.7l eco boost f150 has almost 9000lb towing capacity. So I’d think just about any half ton truck can pull that weigh easily.
Hello, When you say under 5,000 lbs, it that the dry weight of the trailer or the GVW? Thanks Bill

Hi Johnny, This video is over a year and a half old so I Googled one of the units and found that the weights are UVW. At some point after this video we did switch to GVWR but I'm not sure when.
Thanks!

Hi, I really enjoy watching your trailer reviews! A small personal favour to ask thou - can you please show the toilet and floor around it in your next videos please? :) I want to travel with my cats and I need to see where their litter box will fit :)
Huge thank you in advance!
Hi there!,
thanks for the suggestion! We love when our viewers give us feedback and if we get several people asking us to include the same info we will include it in our videos. But if you see a model you like you could also google it and check it out in greater detail.

Have you found a trailer that is cat friendly? I also am looking one.
These are all good quality Travel Trailers. If you could please advise if of ICE BOX size. And to me more importantly is the weight DRY Weight. I have a Tacoma. Is the weights DRY or YOU NEVER state this!
Hi Don,
All weights in all of our videos are dry weights. Sorry for any confusion there. And no we will not measure the ice box size. I'm afraid measuring every detail of a camper would get boring for most viewers.

We don't get into that level of detail. Our videos give brief overviews and then if you see a model you like you can dig into the details..

do they have chair height toilet
Yes but you might have to buy it aftermarket and install it.
Why don't you look at the Springdale 1860SS? It has so much more room with the super slide for the family or dogs or just to walk around, under 20K, under 4500 pounds, more closet space too.
Hi William,
We can only shoot what is at the dealerships or at RV Shows. If they aren't there we can't get video.
And with RV sales going through the roof inventory is extremely limited.

For most it's not the towing cap amount, it's the hitch weight affecting payload. I've towed a 5300 pound travel trailer and it had 800 pound hitch weight which means one less adult or items I can bring with, and then there's a 7500 pound travel trailer with 520 pounds hitch weight

Why do these manufacturers think the stove (oe sink with cover) count as counter space outer? Open to cook, counter gone. Open the sink while cooking, counter gone.

They are just trying to maximize a very small space. Only so much real estate in a camper.

The most important question is quality and durability. Repairs cost time and money. The best one is the most durable.
