A great panel and excellent expression of the joys and triumphs we share! Getting the word out will keep it moving forward. This channel needs more views!

Last comment listening to these fine women, do not let your perceptions hinder or prevent you from feeling confident about what you want to do. I believe most men in our hobby are more open these days than you can imagine. You also have a terrific support community of women modelers to guide your endeavors to show your work.
Very excited to see and listen to y’all!

It’s good to see more women are joining the hobby. I need more women friends 😸.

A point is like to make is that you don’t have to be married to a bloke or have children interested in model trains to get into the hobby. It would be nice to see more single women or women bringing men into the hobby for a change.

This is great. I'd like this kind of thing to feature some more women modelers: top of the list for me, Elizabeth Allen.

    Hey Gals,
Do a UTube video tour of your layouts!
I don't see anything done by you when I search for layout videos.

This is a real good point. Spread your accomplishments. I watch video's to help me learn and seeing a female teaching would just reinforce everything your disusing.

Agreed! I've been binge-watching hundreds of Model Railroading videos for weeks now (I'm a newbie), and only just a few days ago saw my first video of a layout by a woman. I think she didn't actually appear it in - just a still photo - and it was her only video.
One thing that was cool was that there were a *lot* of comments on it by women. We are out there, and we could be more visible.
I'm "just a newbie," but plan to show my work if/when I actually create something, even if it's not spectacular. Representation matters.

Consider getting the girl scouts involved. Boy scouts has a merit badge, maybe the girl scouts could do something like that. Then model railroaders could teach the classes and spread the fun.

Deb Ames at 37.26 brings up an excellent point on featuring a women's layouts on the bulletin. But why not extend it to magazines, websites, and youtube channels! Show what is possible by publishing either in print, blog, or video! Show the journey! I would like to see that journey.

@Deb Ames, it is not just about having women in the hobby! The old boys club happens within the men, I have been fighting this for years but the old farts won’t relent. Most of us welcome you with open arms! When I was younger the only way you got accepted was is you could contribute to their group, otherwise you were on the outside!

Just saw this. A most fabulous presentation that highlights and promotes new participation supporting women in our magnificent hobby!
My one concern however is hearing that Christina has been let go in her role w the NMRA. Very bad optics especially given that she is a woman!! Horrible message this sends! Counter to what we as NMRA members are intending to promote…membership expansion!
I’ve seen Christina’s contribution from a ground level to her publications. The explanation for not renewing her contract is confounding.
