I bought one a few weeks ago in Alberta Canada and its a great machine, smaller with better sight lines than RMAX. Looking forward to running it in the Rockies this summer
Much needed. The 850 Wolverines are just a bit anemic at elevation, especially a 4-seater with cargo & passengers that could be pushing 3k lbs gross vehicle weight. Trying to crawl uphill on taller tires into 10k feet elevation just likely wouldn't be too fun. The RMAX units are pretty great, but they're all kind of going for a "premium" trim to compete with the top variants of the Commander and General. This actually falls in a nice price point, properly outfitted with common features, and easily goes toe to toe with the Commander XT 1000 (which costs more) and coming out slightly ahead of the same priced Polaris General in pretty much every category. Having a reliable "do it all decently well" Sport-Utility-Recreational vehicle that's small enough for most trails at $20k MSRP is a breath of sanity while Polaris & Canned Ham keep offering $50k+ trophy truck sized "ATVs" as their market focus.
I agree. Things have been going premium for a while now and I can’t justify spending 25k on something I am playing in the woods with and possibly damaging at some point.
I think this was a great addition to the line up since the Rmax has gotten expensive since it came out. Great east coast type trail machine with the smaller size and lighter weight. It probably competes very well against the OG General.
Awesome video as usual 👌. The main thing I was worried about other than affording it was interior room so thanks for mentioning that. I'm 6'1" and 325lbs so I definitely need my room. Keep the videos coming 🇨🇦👍
I like the look of the package, let's hope they can shut that engine up a little. I was in the rmax1000 the other day and it was the 1st thing I noticed. It revs high at low speed and carried that high rev all the way through. I feel it would be nice if we could use the torque of the 1000 a bit more
Where in North Carolina is that? Because I live in NC and have a PWC which model year hasn’t been reviewed on your channel yet and would love to meet up and have you review it!
Location was Brushy Mountain Motorsports Park - bmmspark.com/ We spent 3 days in NC to get this video done but we're back home now, which is not exactly around the corner. But thanks for the offer!
Informative video as always. I've been interested in seeing a review of the X2 1000. It's nice to see Yamaha put this engine in that machine. I wish manufacturers would stop putting instrument clusters in the center of the dash and I wish they would make bigger and nicer. Did you do a top speed run? I'm curious to see if the top speed is limited to 80 km/h like the 850 is.
I was able to test drive both the 850 and 1000. Both very nice machines but I could not believe the cabin noise on the 1000 even at slow speeds. The 850 felt just a bit too lame making it a very tough decision. Not sure I want to wear a communicator to talk to someone that is right beside me.
Went with the 850. No regrets on this end it has been a great machine so far. It does a great job for what I use a sxs for. Very comfy and still lots of fun. I dont think you could lose with either machine. @@deemer877
Hey TK guy! How is the engine noise on this X2 1000 compared to a Polaris RZR 900S? I just did about 400 miles in the UP of MI with mine and I am thankful for my UTV Com intercom/hearing protection.
I have a RZR 800S and test drove the X2 1000. The 1000 was alot louder at any speed. My wife and I take our RZR out lots and at low speed cruise we can chat. This was not possible in the X2 1000.
@@mlavhobbies good to know. We had to raise our voice to talk in the 900S until I bought the intercom system. I guess I will plan on reconfiguring the system if I get an X2.

Nice to see the reviews coming in. As a current Rmax2 owner, which I love, this X2 1000 will more than likely be my next sxs.
I'd be interested to know why

I still haven't heard why no viking 850/1000

Even the 850 engine braking on my 2019 is awesome. I can go riding all day in hills and rough terain and never use brakes.

Great meeting ya Steven!
You as well Romeo! Was a fun ride.
The Kawasaki Teryx is going to have to step up their game now.
Awesome machine!! I'd love to try one out. Bring one home to Canada and we'll go fur a rip bawd!
Do they have any plans of making a x4 1k in that frame? I don’t know that I’d need an Rmax but I’d have to get one if I wanted the 1000 and 4 seats.

Great machine... i belive it's faster than the rmax on a hole shot…i just picked mine up !
YXZ For the Win
I wonder if they will make it in a four seater ?🤔
Great review. I was worried about the engin noise. That helps me make my decision. Thanks
Glad I could help
So Again, Where were you riding? I thought you said Rocky Mount orv park, Is that right , if so where is it located always looking for new places?
Great video TK!

Top speed is the same as the RMAX at 70 MPH.
@@MassiveOverkill Thanks for the response.
So in Canada this machine comes with 12" rims and 27" GBC tires. Not the square set-up. Why TH do that Yamaha??
The width seems to vary from 61 from Yamaha's presenters to 63.6 here. What's the width?
