    I've been in the church for a long time now. I've seen a number of Christian fundamentalists in my day and have read up on the phenomenon a bit too. A friend of mine is one of these super-SJW types and I swear, he's a bigger, meaner fundamentalist than any other fundamentalist I've ever met. The crazy thing: he doesn't even see it. He's completely blind to his own righteousness and bullying. I dare say, if he had some religion, he'd have more perspective on just how sold-out to the church of progressivism he actual is.

      @Captain Dildoface “Blah blah blah.”
      Inequality exists in American society. That is a fact.
      In St. Louis, there are several Homeowner’s Associations with the language: “negroes may not own property within [our] neighborhood.” The AG of Missouri recently sued to have this language removed from their bylaws.
      That’s today. 2021. It’s the definition of inequality.
      I am not a “negro”: I can own property there
      I am a “negro”: I cannot own property there
      To dismiss these claims by SJW that this is NOT ok, is to actually embrace this inequality.
      All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to stand by and do nothing.

    • @mattomjohn4314
      @mattomjohn4314 3 года назад

      @Captain Dildoface Unless I’m mistaken, the American ideal is to be able to have the same opportunities our neighbors have. Being outright banned from purchasing a home solely based on my race flies in the face of everything we stand for as Americans. Land of the Free and all.
      A “religious cult” with a foundation in reality, pushing for a positive evolutionary change within a stagnant American culture. Doesn’t really sound cult-like.

      You live in a 1st world country, with laws in place which criminalize racial and sexist discrimination, and gives you the opportunity and means to sue (and most likely win) racist people because not only of their discrimination, but also for their offensive language.
      And according to you, the lawsuit is already happening.
      And this is the proof that you are oppressed by the system, and you have the right to call people you don't know "privileged" because of their skin and genitals?
      You and the rest of the low IQ, spoiled and racist cult should live for a couple of months in Xi Jinping's China; you will very quickly discover what inequality really means and how universal it is, and the true reasons why their citizens are so united, like Joe Biden says.

      I'm an atheist. I think it's important for our group to realize that just as polytheism evolved into monotheism, monotheism has evolved into atheism. That is to say there are now atheistic religions. Feminism and veganism come to mind. Look for anyone who is preaching a doctrine in which they claim the moral authority to impose on others. Separation of church and state needs to be updated to include these new religions.

So it's about time separation of church and state is no longer exclusive to polytheistic and monotheistic religions. Clear as mud?

    Humans are naturally inclined to believing in religion or ‘myths’. Back in hunter gatherer days the tribes who held the largest number of people would win out against the tribe against the smaller number of people. How do you get tribes with larger numbers of people? You need something that they all subscribe too, faith in God’s or other religious beliefs that unites them all under the same band. Hence humans evolved over 1000s of years to become more susceptible or inclined to believe in religious beliefs or ‘myths’. Therefore nowadays people without religion often find themselves naturally yearning for some other form of myth to subscribe to that other people also do - in this case intersectionality. This is why I believe it’s incredibly common that large groups of humans will readily commit themselves to almost faith like systems of belief

      Program your mind before it is programmed for you.
      I think what you say is very true and is a big part of my research (for personal reasons) on humanity and what causes corruption, as well as funcional groups. I don't know if it's better to try to move forward and not rely on mythical thinking (which requires frequently checking in with logic and facts to the best of our knowledge) or if that is so far too much to ask of people on a large scale. In that case, maybe creating better myths to subscribe to, ones that don't involve 'being the chosen people' or being hateful towards others for who they are.

  • @secondstarllc
    @secondstarllc 5 лет назад +12

    This is an important discussion. I've definitely seen this among friends, family, and acquaintances; however, I'd propose that this thinking isn't new. What these guys are talking about are people making themselves out to be god and therefore the authority and deserving to be worshiped ....the prideful.
    It is interesting that the Bible mentions this narrative in Genesis, where the serpent tempted Eve with being prideful by rejecting God's only rule in the garden by eating the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, and once they ate from it their eyes would be opened and they would be like gods. As opposed to eating from the tree of life, which Jesus later referred Himself as the way the truth and the life. Eating from the tree of life by contrast requires one to be humble and trusting God's word on the matter. Eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and you shall surely die, or eat from the tree of life and live.

    Easy- intersectionality is an overlapping Venn diagram of race, gender, sexuality, nationality, and disability. For example- 1 point for being a woman, 1 for being black, 1 for being disabled, 1 for being gay= 4 intersectionalities. Basically, "Equity" rebranded.

  • @billm5555
    @billm5555 3 года назад +4

    The problem with intersectionality is that it assumes victimhood. It does not take into account the positive factors that those same people may possess. For example beauty, talent, the status of family and friends, wealth, education, profession, etc. Beyonce' is a black woman. According to intersectional rules, she is a victim. But she is a beautiful, talented, rich, celebrity. Does anyone think that her life suffers from negative intersectional bias? In fact, I would say that as of 2020 no beautiful, rich, or talented woman does.

      by conflating intersectionality with religion, these people have drawn on broader progressive movements and concepts and lumped them into one overarching narrative that they call intersectionality.

    While I think it's true that people invent new gods or ways or religious thinking when they don't beleive in the old ones (Killing Joke does a great talk about this regarding the development of nuclear power, al though on the esoteric side) I don't remember that being a factor in Game of Thrones. Followers of the new gods conquer or impose themselves on a thriving culture of people who do believe in the old ones, for better or worse. Sometimes the existing culture and brlief system was working just fine for everyone, sometimes not, contantion leaving a void or oprning for some new movement. This is important to point out because conquering has happened throughout our history, and in some cases is happening now.

    A lot of these arguments that say intersectionality is a religion can be applied to pretty much all science and philosophy? Does a belief in gravity or utilitarianism for example not require faith? The reason for what is being compared to religious puritanism is the proximity of issues around intersectionality to very important political ideas.

    • @leamonbazil6792
      @leamonbazil6792 4 года назад +4

      When is the last time you saw a group of utilitarians shouting at a speaker at a conference in an attempt to convince the masses that deontologists need to check their privilege and that they need to be more woke? You haven't, and that is because the utilitarian is going to make an argument and use reason to try and convince the deontologist and the masses. When is the last time you saw a group of scientists chanting "falsificationism matters" with picket signs, all the while declaring that creationists need to shut up and listen? You haven't, because the scientist is going to try demonstrate, with reason, the strength of his research methodology. Intersectionality is fundamentally different than either science or traditional philosophy because it is rooted in political ideology and activism. Throw in a dash of identity politics and then you have some of the most privileged and safe people on the planet (white and black women) convinced that they are somehow dominated and oppressed (lynched and raped). These people are actually utilizing Nietzschean slave morality to gain political and economic power and people are just sitting back and allowing it to happen for fear of being labelled a racist or misogynist. The sad part of it all is that most of their arguments are based on the most flimsy evidence and unsophiscated interpretation of history I have ever seen. It has been brought into being by an alliance of black and white women who don't really seek to dismantle patriarchal institutions at all. They merely want to control them and secure capital for themselves. They merely want their slice of the neo-liberal pie. It is a movement based on shame and humiliation and those two imposters can never usher in legitimate societal revolution.
