I am pretty sure those “dividers” in the panniers are meant to go into the short ends of the panniers to keep them open. I don’t have those exact model panniers, but the panniers I have had in the past worked like that.
The 2 small plastic panels are meant to go inside the ends as stiffeners which means would have to remove them to fold flat. Also each top has 2 end flaps that have velcro and are meant to go outside and keep debris from getting into the pannier and make it more rain resistant.
I actually got the bags and orbiter on together. The opening is somewhat limited but not too bad. I'm not using them for bulky items so far so its been working for me! Awesome vid man
Great review! So many reviews gloss over the accessories which are what makes cargo bikes actually useful for cargo. I plan to carry my teenagers and my wife on the back occasionally, but didnt want to have to take on and off the cargo (panniers or baskets) every time i wanted to have a passenger. This is great to know the panniers fold up meaning no reassembling every time you want to change configuration.
If you carry any passenger on the back, it will make the Xpedition handle very different and kind of unsteady. Be ready because any movement by a passenger will make handling more difficult. I consider this to be pretty dangerous with small passengers that can not hold still while riding. Please make sure any passengers wear helmet protection!!
Lucky you had the panniers to review they are currently back ordered till August. Ordered back in the beginning of June. Essentials kit just arrived.the other day. My front bag(mini backpack facing me so I can use while riding.) I grabbed at dollar tree lo.put my lock in the same place. Though I use other locks too.have over 600 miles now since June 10th.(doordash u.e.)Had to have them ship out bolts and extending wires that didn't come with my headlight or racks. Front rack with delivery bag & rack will start to lean forward and is semi bouncy which means the headlight bounces(running the elite, and want to add led bars on each side of it) I also have the large delivery bag and rack on the back. Still waiting on my cushions and running boards as well. Perhaps July. Still hope my large delivery rack and panniers fit at the same time. Might be tight but I can sacrifice that if they fit.
If you use the large panniers, mounting any rack that overhangs those panniers will not allow them to open. Using the rear basket will not allow panniers to open either. Kind of disappointing. Also using the Orbiter does not allow use of panniers or rear basket at the same time. Its use only 1 of them and no other at same time. I added foam pads under the panniers for full support when loaded with heavier items (no sag or strain on pannier bottoms) and tied those foam pads to bottom of each pannier for easy removal.
This is great and all But companies need to follow Suit with the offroad capabilities of the Tern orox cargo. We can all agree tho that the tern orox could be made much cheaper I the $2000.00 range with a longer rack like the rad wagon 4. Also a bike like this that has 100 miles range should be capable of throttle only like the anokii A8 and similar Walkee long range bikes. I believe it only makes sense to sell folding 100 watt solar pannels with a efficient mppt charger included to keep charged while camping. Thiers over 1000 videos of people charging with pannels and mppt controller. If you haven't checked out the capabilites of the Tern Orox take the time to watch the videos off its offroad capabilities range and massive weight and storage capacities. I believe all ebike channels need to start speaking about this as it wouldn't take long to manifest the ultimate offroad all terrain adventure cargo bike for around $2000 - $3000 Every company needs to start making what the Tern Orax is capable of but better and cheaper! Also fat tires for beach sand is a must! Campers and off trail riders will love those who makes these for eternity! Lets go!!!! 😊
@@ChrisCrossed Exactly that's why Xpedition should make thier own version of the Tern. I hope you could do a video explaining how ebike companies like Lectric WALKEE and Anokii should make thier own version of an offroad cargo bike.
Great video! I currently have the cargo bundle on -- small basket in back and large in front. I have the panniers on order (August like everyone is saying...) but the seats and foot panels show up tomorrow. Looks like if I remove the small basket and put the seats, foot panels, and panniers on, with panniers able to flatten, I can leave them on and switch to passenger mode pretty quick. Does that seem reasonable? Wanting to get a flexible configuration that I don't need to be swapping stuff out all the time. And even with seats and panniers on, I might be able to strap a cooler to the top on the seats with panniers full and closed? Thinking of grocery shopping. Front basket will be for lighter grocery items due to weight limit.
Hi. Thank you for your explanation.I'm trying to get this bike for several purposes too, included for food delivery. Did you try the doordash thing? How is to park/wait for the food? Do you lock and unlock all the time you are waiting for the food ?
Thanks for watching. I never got a chance to do some DoorDash so hopefully this summer. I live in suburbs so don’t I will lock it and just keep the bike by a window so I can see it.
When using the Panniers, what is another solution to place on the top rack (to carry more) if you cant use the ORBITER RACK? Thanks for the info! My girlfriend and her DOG wants this bike!
Lectric tells me adding the panniers is possible but I don’t see how with the Orbital in place. I wonder if you can buy smaller clip on panniers for the top rail of the orbital…?
I've enjoyed your videos. I am planning on purchasing a dual-battery model near Black Friday. I'm hoping for a free passenger package. I will use your link. I currently have an xp 2 with the bigger battery and have put over 1500 miles, running great. I am concerned about how far is the reach. Can you adjust the bars back so they are almost as or as close as on the xp 2 with rotated handlebar? I used your tutorial and it improved my riding comfort greatly. Also, can the panniers and seats be installed at the same time or do you have to remove the seats to install the panniers?
So the handlebars can com up straight but not like a rotated XP. You’d be better off swapping handlebars to ones that are swept back. Pannier have to go in first. The seats are kind of a pain to put on
I have the plus 1 and seat cushions but I can’t get them arranged successfully in the configuration you show at 13:03. Can you share more details or pictures as to how you got yours to fit in that config?

What is your favorite accessory or combo of accessories? For the Panniers, once mounted it seems to limit the useability of the top of the rack? I like to put a basket on top but my wish was to use the Orbitor doesn't seem to work together. Finally, rideability for tall riders... you seem pretty tall, is the Xpedition squirrely? Another video tested and between the Radwagon, Abound and Xpedition, the Radwagon is more stable (bigger) and the Aventon and Lectric is suitable for riders under 6'. What are your thoughts on the handling of the Xpedition?
I’m still figuring out which combo I like. Either Oribitor or the pannier version. I added a small bag on top with my pannier version. I’m six foot and the bike fits me well.
In their pics, the panniers are configured as open-top, which you can do by folding the cover’s end panels in and then folding the long flap over those, then sticking the entire cover into the pannier. The strap that holds in the middle of the long outer side panel has a second strap that loops through the carry handle when using the pannier in open-top mode to keep the panel from bowing out too much. After using mine for a couple months, I found the stitches near the outer two Velcro straps coming loose. I added several stitches to each to strengthen them a few weeks ago and they’ve held up so far.
Good info on the shim, and I didnt know the panniers fold up. Good info. I wont get the set package or bags or foot and seat pads till end of august earliest :( They are way behind on all accessories. I wish the motor was a bit quieter on this, she sounds like a bus going down the street.
@@ChrisCrossed they are all very small, i bought a set, I like them but they just need to be American foot size not Chinese slipper size! I wear a size 13 and the pedals online are like kid size. Are those expedition pedals full size?
Bought the bike and many accessories, got the bike but none of the accessories or free pieces, seems all on back order. Nice bike but not a happy camper on the accessories. There was no warning about all the back order on the accessories! Also ordered another battery charger but did not get that either.

I'm trying to work with their technical support but it is disappointing the full bike will not be able to be assembled and ready for Christmas as indented for my wife.. :( anyone else have an issue with the Orbitor and Passenger seats?
If you look at lectric marketing material, the orbitor and paneers are supposed to be able to work together... unfortunate that they dont do so in real life....

the small plastic bits are to go into the ends of the panier bags to stiffen them up not dividers to the internals of the bags.
