Thank you so much! Something this video taught me that I haven’t heard before is that I should include more than just the organization name in that section, and actually describe the organization a bit more. This was super helpful!
The tip you shared about showing colleges the trajectory of your experience in a club was very insightful, and I plan on integrating that into my activities page!
Yk im just really grateful for you and everyone out there who is GENUINELY trying to help ppl achieve what they want and as in international student there is so much i wanna do just so little opportunity where i am but im here trying and you are helping even if i dont get accepted i dont want to have regrets and say I didn’t try enough so thank you genuinely for helping to the most you can :)
Why the hell does this have 17 views? Oh my god, You just helped me think of my passion project. I'm a gap year student from Nepal, Asia. And, Yale is my dream ( not exaggerating ). I have no guidance from my college or counselors around me. Internet is all I have. It's so great to have someone like you put up videos like these. Would love to have some feedbacks from you. Would mean the world.
Hi Kevin, you've honestly been so much help through starting my college apps! Don't know if you remember me but I took a summer writing course you taught with future bridge in 2022 (80% red, 20% blue!). One of my main activities is music (specifically piano) and I have a lot of different things that are all focused around this topic. For example: competitions, volunteer music theory mentor for 10 weeks, weekly lessons with a kid in my community, and composing music for a children's choir and for sight reading competition events. I was wondering how I should go about entering these into the activities section. Should I keep them all in one activity entry or split them up (and if so, how)? How do I estimate the time per week and weeks per year when considering more than just one specific activity? I feel like every one of these piano related activities could use more elaboration but I'm afraid of having too much about music (I was also planning on having an activity on acapella choir singing and another on school leadership, class council and commissioner of sound).
Hi Michael! Thanks for your message brother! I'd separate your piano into two portions, one for competitions, another for music volunteering and a third for music composition... it's a bit of a complicated question so your best bet is to upload it to our portal and we'll take a look! www.elevated.school/editmyessay We review activities lists!

I’m a student currently and I began volunteering at Red Cross consistently, however my hours picked up from 30 minute to 2 hour sessions per week. I began in 11th grade and now I’m in 12th continuing my duration of volunteering. How many hours should I put in the hours per week and how many weeks for the per year?
what if i’ve never had any leadership positions? would a lack of them look bad on my apps? edit: my replies aren’t showing up but i got into my ED school which is a T25, it’ll be fine

What if a college allows me to upload a resume on Common App? If I have more than ten activities I want to share, should I leave the Activities section blank and just create a resume?
I don't want to sound repetitive and waste admission officers' time by doing both. Even if I note at the top of a resume that it's just a continuation of my Activities Section, I don't have that many extra activities lol, so I'm worried that my resume will look too blank. I think my concern might be kinda silly, but I'm genuinely confused. As always, thx for the vid!
Yo, I work at Stanford as a tech ops for sports broadcast, my daughter is a freshman in high school, she shadows me now and now will be hired as a tech ops when the acc comes in, is that a good start

guys can someone help me please. I chose 1 activity as ART and in position/ leadership description I don't know what to write cause there is no particular position or leadership so I wrote "drawing / sketching artist". So also for activities where I did not participate in an organization or something , its just an normal activity that I did throughout the years sooo what about that ? do those activities count here or are these activities only those times when I participated in an organization or event ?
I just started using the common app today and I left a few things blank because I need to ask my guidance counselor about a few things before I finish. But I’m afraid to exit out of the app and that it won’t save my work will it delete and j have to start over?
Hello! I don't know if you will respond, but what would you recommend putting in the "Position/Leadership Description" space if you are putting one of your 'hobbies' as an activity? (For example, I cook every single day to feed myself and my sister, but I'm not sure what to put for the leadership position here?)
I'd just put the top leadership positions you were a part of! If you still have extras you want to mention, you can talk about them in your Additional Information

You can use some humor, like "Pasta Master and Head Chef of Ash Family"! Or you can simply put: Family Cook, cook 15 meals/wk for 3 siblings.
@@elevatedschool thank you so much I appreciate it!
just clarifying, the admissions ppl are ok that the activity description is not full sentences? like do i not use punctuation at all?
Yes!
Hi everyone, can anyone help me? I just want to know are universities ask for some certificates or recommendations for proving your activity?
If there is not enough space to type in all the leadership positions you’ve had in an activity, would you recommend to just input them all separately?
I'd just put the top leadership positions you were a part of! If you still have extras you want to mention, you can talk about them in your Additional Information
I thought the additional information section was for Covid impact
There are two additional information section I guess, and one for covid
Guys! if I was captain of my school team in various sports , do I list it as an activity or an honour?
Activity! Honors would be if you won competitions, although colleges tend to want more academic honors as opposed to sports ones!
