*summary:*
1. the order which u put ur activities in is important!
2. for well-known organizations (MUN, key club, etc.) focus on your own accomplishments in the club rather than a general summary
3. don't use full sentences! be straightforward and to the point
4. don't overload your hours spent on activities (be realistic)
5. keep a consistent format for descriptions
6. (talking abt her own activities as an example)

PSA yall! the activities section on the Common App. is different this year so ours may not look like haley's. now there's a 50-character section for "Position/Leadership Description," 100 characters for "Organization Name," and 150 characters for description and recognition received.

Hi I am applying for colleges this year and I just have a few questions regarding the activities section.
1. Can we put activities I do that are unrelated to school on the application? (Piano, guitar, sports I do for fun with friends)
2. Is it worth it to put activities where you didn't really achieve much on the application? (I play the guitar and badminton for multiple years, though I consider myself decent in both activities, I never participated in any tournaments/competitions)

Hey howd it go? I have the same q, can you share how you described them?
I didn't bother ordering my activities for my top ea application, hope that doesn't bite me. I put all the school stuff up front (4 clubs I am president / captain of and a student gov position), listed my internship, listed a philanthropic seat I held, recurring speaking engagement, and then company I co founded / ran. The hours I put in might raise some eyebrows but by far the largest time consumer was the company (start/scaling without outside investment). My rational behind this was that I have mediocre grades (A's and B's) and I think I can excuse this with the excessive commitments I had outside of school. Since I didn't order them, I hope they don't assume the business wasn't hard or as important as the other things. Overall, I think I made a lot of the mistakes you made (not ordering, poor formatting, listing a lot of hours). Crossing my fingers for a nice admissions officer.

When should we write this part? Because some clubs I wont be in leadership positions until next year (senior year) and I'm thinking its better to write about leadership activities I did.
i included expected leadership positions i would have senior year and estimated the future hours and time commitment

... nd would u consider honor societies awards or activities
i would only mention sports accomplishments in the activity area and would reserve the awards section for stuff like cum laude, ap scholar, national merit, stuff like that
