There is also a live presentation in which Gackt and Mana played with some other band in 1995. I remember the song was called Hora. It was on YT, but now i cant find anywhere.
I don’t think the malice mizer - gardenia pv high res video was lost. The footage was never recorded on a hard drive or put on a hard drive. There wasn’t any digital camera that would take professional shots just like the red camera that shoots in high res 12k in 120fps footage. I do think the footage is still on film like most music videos and movies during the 90’s. And you can upscale it with special software these days since the raw film does record in high res. All products that used film cameras until 2013 when they started using the digital camera with a high performance ssd. And also films were recorded in 35mm which is the highest res picture you can get outta a film camera. As for editing the film, nothing was edited on digital/computer. If it was, that would cost them a lot of money but the picture wasn't really good. So it was shot and cut on film like the old days. As for special effects, it was done on computers but this was late 90’s early 2000s and the tech back then wasn’t good like it is now. I do believe there might be a master tape that is done and edited, but the band don’t wanna release it or the record label has it and won’t release since it might be their property too if it is still under contract which does happen to a lot of artists and bands. For instance, Michael Jackson still has music videos, un-release music and promo pictures that have never been released by him since some of his work he felt seem to be not good enough. There was a song that was going to be the release that was stated as a single which they released after his death called “hollywood tonight” but “beat it” was a better song to release and get it on radio and also the famous mtv. I do feel that there is footage, if it is on film and was done but never shown, there has to be a master edit film reel of it. Who knows, if the expiry date of the contract ever runs up and the old band member does decide to buy it back and release it, it would be that day we get to see the full version of it.
For the contract part: AFAIK all Malice Mizer releases in this era (including Gardenia) were managed by Mana's (one of the band members) own record label Midi:Nette, so it would be entirely up to the members themselves whether to release it or not.
@@djexotic07 I don't think so. It appears that Klaha remained on good terms with the other members of MM after the disbandment. He's also the only MM vocalist I've seen Mana casually talk about on Twitter lol I also can't think of a reason why Klaha wouldn't want the "Gardenia" PV out given how he appeared in the PVs before and after it.
Also, as someone who also doesn’t have English as their first language I get that sometimes it’s a bit harder to express oneself. Ppl should keep that in mind
I wonder which other songs were performed during the merveilles l’espace live. I wonder if Mana has any rights to the recording… if an expanded version of the show would be released, I’m pretty sure even nowadays many people would buy it. Thanks for the video!
Other good examples of vk lost media is from indie/underground scene, bands like baby shiter & labels like Luciffer's Records, having many live releases throught early 2000s, and many 90s/early 2000s obscure kote kote bands.
