A great solution to clean any plastic seals and motors and pumps and including all coffee parts is the food grade citric acid. It is true vinegar will eat up your seals in time. I used to clean many motor pumps and tanks for saltwater reef tanks with vinegar finding it would ware the seals in time. I switched and many have to Citric acid food grade powder and it doesn't harm no silica seals or plastics and that what I use for all my coffee machines and house hold faucets and shower heads and all. It cleans better with no effort. Removes more than just calcium build up . And it sanitizes and disinfects everything. They use for food sanitizing as well. It's cheap and works amazing. I don't use scaling solutions or vinegar . This is what I used for many years and all my machines and pumps come out like brand new. I have Never seen anything do what this does to date yet. Great video my friend. I use the brand name well known Milliard pure no GMO fine grain food grade. Use for canning , laundry ,freezing ,jarring bread making,oh adjustments, water softening, degreasing ,arts and crafts and so much more. It's the citric acid around the home. Best thing ever made. Zero dyes ,zero additives, zero fragrance. Probably many have never heard in the use of it or considered it but in the fish aquarium hobbyist realm it's the number one thing with no more soaking and scrubbing and all that algae and calcium and Coraline algae all stuck and hard to take off. This stuff is run and rinse and all done. No overnight soaks and and smell. Give it a shot and you won't go back. 5lb bag is like $10-$15. Last you a long time.
Thank u so much for this. After the descale how should the water come out of the brew area ? Not the steam. I only have 2 streams of water. Thinking something is wrong
When did you last clean your shower screen? Take it out and clean the holes and surface. If your machine is not sitting alligned, a single or double stream can happen. Also it's normal for the water to drip and lean to one side of the shower screen, because water comes from a single hole on the Grouphead and its off center by design. Using an expensive IMS shower screen can fix this issue
Hi if you have a moment, I need help with replacing my pressure seal. The screw won't catch if the rubber ring is in place. I have tried everything including trying to use a c-clamp to compress it before trying to put the screw in. I called Breville and they said you aren't supposed to remove it in the first place, but looking at other videos, it seems like replacing the seal is pretty standard procedure. Any tips on how to get the screw in?
Hi Aju, Nice video. I have a BES820XL which is discontinued and I think has some similarities with this machine. Do you conduct a backflush with it? I don't think there is a solenoid at the grouphead (or my pucks would be a lot dryer) so is that needed?
Hey i just clean the Filter from the head group and now There no jet like before, juste water flowing without jet... Wonder if i did something bad ..... Or maybe when its There less water restrictions.... Help ahah
Hello, I did not know I had to do that procedure, Now the water is not coming out from my machine. When I turn it on, it hums a little bit but no water is coming out. Is there a way to fix this. As no water is coming out I guess I cannot descale as you said. I did clean the portafilter recently. Thanks.
I'm sure you've already fixed it if not I hope I'm not too late. Did you happen to leave the water tank up? That happens if you don't push it down all the way
@@AjusCafe Thank you Aju your very kind and your help I did manage to find it and opened it to see it I had no choice!! I also got Bezzera Magica and I was kinda disappointed as I like Breville Barrista express it’s compact nice and great built!! So returned my Bezzera kept my Breville I just like it more but YMMV what’s your take on that??
Thanks for this useful video! I wasn't sure about the right water/vinegar ratio. Say... I noticed your control knob is turning really easily. Mine has become really hard to turn. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks!
There is nothing much to do if its hard to turn, other than to replace the control switch. It can happen. One of my breville machine's knob is hard to turn.
Did anyone find their lattes from this machine had a bad bitter taste prior to descaling? I have tried 2 recommended brands of espresso :( i bought mine used.
seriously.. .you wait til the very end to mention that Breville no longer supports using vinegar!!??? and saying you yourself dont recommend it except once in a long while if you don't have the descaling powder... i'm not impressed and wish i hadnt followed your video
@@AjusCafe I'm now watching your other video on deep cleaning. I'm taking it the screen out. My coworker bought a new fancy machine and gave me this one. Apparently they make a great cup of coffee.
@@edgelite they do, but make sure you use only freshly roasted beans, and consume within 3 weeks. Buy in small quantities from your local roaster with "Roasted Date" not more than a week old.
You answered all my questions and more without dragging out the video. Thank you!
Glad to hear that

Thank you so much
Thanks for the help Aju! I did it with the vinegar solution for now, but I will be continuing with the descaling powder :) Very helpful guide!!
Thank you
Will this fix the on/off switch fading in and out? Could you make a video how to fix this on the Brevilke Cafe Roma?
Hi Aju! I bought my cafe roma like 6 years ago… I’ve never descaled it… what do you recommend I do?
Thank you so much for this video ! It was very clear and useful!
I subscribed to your chain ! ❤
Thank you so much
Does the Cafe Roma have a backflush/cleaning system? If I put in a cleaning disc with a tablet will it damage the machine?

I have breville cafe venezia which is similar to this, but the steamer is no longer working steaming out.. any recommendations ?
It might be clogged with dry milk or scale. Try cleaning it out with a pick. It might open the holes and let the steam through
Thanks brother.
All cleaned out.
Big difference.
Glad to hear that
Thank you for the help! It worked great for our machine!
Thanks for the feedback

You can do backflush in this and it has solenoid i guess to enter clean cycle its Power +single+ double cup buttons together

Aju do you know model number of Ulka Pump for Cafee Roma
I guess it is ULKA Model E Type EFP5
The pump that works with BES820XL should work in Cafe Roma. But always verify with seller before purchase.

If its not Descaled for long, the mineral deposits can be the culprit or if they used vinegar to Descale and never did a thorough cleaning
Should have said the vinegar not recommended thing at the start
